Question# 01:

How BMI for age can be Calculated?

BMI (Body Mass Index) for age is calculated similarly to standard BMI, but it takes into
account a person's age and sex. Here's how you can calculate it:

1. *Obtain Measurements*:
You'll need the person's weight (in kilograms) and height (in meters).
2. *Calculate BMI*:
Use the formula for BMI, which is weight (kg) divided by height squared (m²).
Weight (kg)
BMI =
Height (m2 )

3. *Find the BMI Percentile*:

Once you have the BMI, you can find the BMI percentile for age and sex using growth
charts provided by organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). These charts are typically available online.
4. *Interpret Results*:
Compare the calculated BMI percentile to the growth chart to determine if the person
is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese relative to others of the same age
and sex.

Remember, BMI is just one measure of health, and it may not accurately reflect an individual's
body composition or overall health status. It's best used as part of a comprehensive assessment
by healthcare professionals.

Question # 02:

What is the criteria of WC (Waist Circumference) for Pakistani Population?

Waist circumference criteria for the Pakistani population may vary slightly compared to other
populations due to differences in genetics, lifestyle, and other factors. However, generally
speaking, the criteria for waist circumference to assess abdominal obesity in adults often
follows similar guidelines to those set by international health organizations such as the World
Health Organization (WHO) or the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

According to the WHO, abdominal obesity is defined as:

- For men: Waist circumference greater than 102 cm (40 inches)

2
- For women: Waist circumference greater than 88 cm (35 inches)

These thresholds indicate an increased risk for health problems such as type 2 diabetes,
cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome.

It's worth noting that these criteria are based on evidence from various populations and may
not perfectly apply to every individual or ethnic group. However, they serve as general
guidelines for assessing abdominal obesity and associated health risks.
