A poor life this is, is full of care, we have no time to stand and share

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that “life is the greatest journey we will ever be on and
time is the companion that goes with us on this journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment,
because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived”.
Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many
colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own
focus. There is so much in the world for us all if we only have the eyes to see it, and the heart to
love it, and the hand to gather it ourselves. We must be glad of life because it gives us the chance to
love, to work, to play, and to look up at the stars. We only live once, but if we work it right, once is
enough. Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the
thousand small uncaring ways so we have to love madly everything that shines on this world,
because other life is stranger to us. We have to write in our heart that every day is the best day of the
year.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our
breaths away.

Adolescence

The imagination of a boy is healthy, and the mature imagination of a man is healthy, but
there is a space of life between, in which the soul is in ferment, the character undecided, the way of
life uncertain and the ambition thick-sighted. Adolescence is a time between parental protection and
personal responsibility, between life stage managed by grown-ups and life privately held. It is the
time to enlarge the natural sentiments of pity, friendship and generosity, the time to develop an
understanding of human nature and the varieties of human character, the most beautiful part of our
life when we feel like a child and an adult at the same time. Adolescence is once in life and it is the
best period in which we receive the first lessons of destiny. It’s like a dream from which we don’t
want to wake up. Adolescence is the time in life when girls quit believing in fairy tales and start to
believe in love and boys stop asking where they came from and start refusing to tell where they were
going. A normal adolescent is so restless and dreamy and awkward that he can mange to injure his
knee—not playing basketball, not playing football—but by falling off his chair in the middle of
history class. If will ask any elder person what is adolescence for them, we will probably hear
histories on themes like the first time in the first class, the first "five", the first "two", the first
campaign at cinema, on the dances, the first fight, the first high-heeled shoes, the first slow dance,
the first kiss, the first “I love". This is the time in our lives where we experience things for the first
time. And it is valid, that in adolescence we only start to learn the world, we open a lot of new
things, not clear, at times shocking, but also surprising and fine.

It is possible to tell, that it is a long, training to an expedition. We study thoroughly district, a

route, study plans of action, find out about possible obstacles and think out ways to resist to
elements. We build, equip the ship to which long navigation is necessary. This ship should sustain
numerous storms, avoid reefs and not to sit on a bank. And we are the captain of this ship hastening
on waves of life from a bay under the name "Youth".

Communication is a two-way process

There are four ways in which we have contact with the world. We are evaluated and
classified by these four contacts: what we do, how we look, what we say, and how we say it.
Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind. Communication is the nucleus of
our society. It is the golden ribbon that ties the world together. Communication is like depositing a
part of you in another person. To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different
in the way we perceive the world and we have to use this understanding as a guide to our
communication with others. Communication is a two way process. First we have to learn the
meaning of what we say, and then speak. We are like cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The
trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out. One of the basic causes
for all the trouble in the world today is that people talk too much and think too little. They act
impulsively without thinking. A writer writes not because he is educated but because he is driven
by the need to communicate. Behind the need to communicate is the need to share. Behind the
need to share is the need to be understood. Due to communication we can say to the others magic
words like I’m sorry, or I love. All of life is a risk; in fact we're not going to get out alive.
Casualness leads to casualties. Communication is the ability to affect other people with words.”
Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.”
Communication is a skill that you can learn. It's like riding a bicycle or typing. If you're willing to
work at it, you can rapidly improve the quality of very part of your life. True communication isn't
possible. Humans have their own perceptions of reality where they feel they connect with others.
It's only the lack of real communication that prevents those personal realities from turning to utter
loneliness and despair brought about by the understanding that none of us can ever truly know
another.

Dreams

We grow great by dreams. Each of us is a dreamer. We see things in the soft haze of a spring
day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these Dreams die, but others nourish
and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which
comes always to those who hope that their dreams will come true. You can dream, create, design
and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.’ ‘Some men see things as
they are and ask "Why?" Others dream things that never were and ask "Why not?"‘ Dreaming, after
all, is a form of planning and there is nothing like a dream to create the future.
Education

Education is a cultivation of character, a habitude against nature and at the same time a
condition that differentiate people from other species. It is a virtue that you cultivate your entire life!
Today almost everybody tends to be an erudite and well-bred person. We have a hunger of the mind
which asks for knowledge of all around us, and the more we gain, the more is our desire, the more
we see, the more we are capable of seeing and the joy of learning is as indispensable in study as
breathing is in running. Education is one of the important things that everyone should have because
we are assured of good future and a good education is the way to a good carrier. Today taking
education outside one's country is very popular. You have the chance to change your lifestyle, to
meet new people, to visit new places. I think that each of us dreams to change the monotonous life
and to try something new. Also studying abroad has a lot of advantages. You have the chance to
choose a better school that actually is very important. A better school will carry a good credential
once you finish your studies that has advantages in landing for a better job than a student who just
graduated in a small college or unknown university. This is especially true if one is applying for
international jobs. Employers often ask your school because they are looking for graduates from
good schools. I think that each of us dreams to study in such universities as Cambridge or Oxford
from London, or Harvard and Princeton from USA. When we are out of our environment, we feel
freer to experiment with different ways of doing things. People can change and it is easier to change
when you are away from your family surroundings. Some students have never been independent
before. This is a chance to be a separate person and to live all by yourself as you like. Also facing
different obstacles of being alone in a foreign country will develop innovativeness of an individual.
You will learn to adapt to difficulties and how to cope with those difficulties. Such kind of learning
will make you more prepared in different situations in life. Often students live in hostels with
students from the entire world. This is a good possibility to learn to live in tolerance with others. For
students looking forward for living and working abroad or in another country, the cultural
experience you have gained from another country will put you in an advantage. Learning does not
only limit to books and lectures. It also involves cultural and societal adaptation like language and
certain cultural practices. Language is very important because it is the only way where you can
explain or share your ideas to others, and to understand other people. This kind of experience gained
from studying in other country is truly very educational and enriching for everyone. Finally,
education is our biggest credit in our life. Study abroad can be enriching. Not only can we learn a
new language, understand more about a different culture, but we can learn more about ourselves too.
At the same time, of course, we are getting an education in the formal sense. Education is the most
powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Family-the nucleus of civilization

The family is the nucleus of civilization. It is the first social unit for developing the qualities
of the heart. A true family grows and moves through life together, inseparable in the heart. This
word implies warmth, a place where the core feelings of the heart are nurtured. Family provides
necessary security and support, and acts as a buffer against external problems. A family made up of
secure people generates a magnetic power that can get things done. They are the hope for real
security in a stressful world. The family is the school of duties - founded on love. In family life, love
is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings
harmony. If the family were a fruit, it would be an orange, a circle of sections, held together but
separable - each segment distinct. You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you
are to them. Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past,
present and future. So can call it a clan, call it a network, or a tribe, call it a family; whatever you
call it, whoever you are, you need one.

Human body

God made the human body, and it is by far the most exquisite and wonderful organization
which has come to us from the Divine hand. Every man is the builder of a temple, called his body, to
the god he worships, after a style purely his neither own, nor can he get off by hammering marble
instead. We are all sculptors and painters, and our material is our own flesh and blood and bones. ”
The body is a marvelous machine...a chemical laboratory, a power-house. Every movement, voluntary or involuntary, full
A temple is an edifice erected to a deity, like a temple the human body is created
of secrets and marvels!
for our life. But it is created and kept by us. And its integrity depends just on its master – the man.
To keep the body in good health is a duty...otherwise, we shall not be able to keep our mind strong
and clear. The higher is your energy level, the more efficient is your body. The more efficient is
your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results.
There is but one temple in the universe and that is the body of man. Our bodies are our gardens to which our wills are
gardeners. Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.

Mistakes
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that “life is the greatest journey we will ever be on and time
is the companion that goes with us in this journey”. Mistakes are a part of human being, and of life.
There is no one in the world that has never done mistakes. Mistakes are stepping stones to success.
Every mistake is a lesson and every opportunity is a blessing. A man's errors are his portals of
discovery. Experience is that marvelous thing that enables us to recognize a mistake when we make it again. When we
make a mistake, we don't have to look back at it long. We have to take the reason of the thing into our mind and then to
look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in our power. Mistakes,
Mistakes
obviously, show us what needs improving. Without mistakes, how would we know what we had to work on?
are a great educator when one is honest enough to admit them and willing to learn from them .
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. A life spent making mistakes
is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. But also it is necessary
for us to learn from others' mistakes. We will not live long enough to make them all ourselves.

I think we all wish we could erase some dark times in our lives. But all of life's experiences,
bad and good, make us who we are. Erasing any of life's experiences would be a great mistake.

First think, and then speak

One of the basic causes for all the trouble in the world today is that people talk too much and think
too little. They act impulsively without thinking. First learn the meaning of what you say, and then
speak. When dealing with people, remember that you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but
creatures of emotion. Speak when you are angry - and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret.
The tongue is the only tool that gets sharper with use. Watch what you say. Kind words can be short
and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. In communications that are difficult or
draining, ease into the heart and find something to appreciate about the person you're dealing with,
or find a feeling of compassion or kindness. This will clear your mind and give you the coherence
you need to know what to say next. That's energy efficiency at work. Words are just words and
without heart they have no meaning.

Love
Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest
and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build
up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one
stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give
them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile
at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you
out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends'
turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not
just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.

Success

Success - what a wonderful word and concept. People have been striving for it all their life,
and many achieving Success, and others are not so fortunate. It seems to elude them, and their life.
Many have been pursuing Success for years, and others start towards it and seem to find it almost
immediately. The meaning of Success comes in many forms, and many definitions. It depends on
what we are searching for in life. People accomplish things everyday. They accomplish results and
more. People Succeed everyday in the marketplace and on the athletic field, as well as the
professional field or some people think that one of the greatest true success passions is on the home
field with raising successful children. Perspectives on Success are as numerous as the stars. Athletes
may have one definition, and a student thinks getting good grades in school is a measure of his
success. A musician may see Success as a number one hit, and a Doctor may see Success as a
surgery that went well. It really depends on the perspective of life we have. Ralph Waldo Emerson
said that success for him is "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and
the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false
friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better; to know even
one life has breathed easier because you have lived; this is to have succeeded." For me success is
finding who you are in the world and making your place in it. So long as you're content and you're
able to live comfortably without fear of losing everything you have, without fear of imminent
danger I would consider successful. I don't know that I can consider having a family a "success..."
but being close to my family would be, because there are plenty of unhappy families out there, rich
and poor. Having a good job I don’t think that is a 'success' because 'good jobs' often burns people
out or they just hate them. A 'good job' to me is something you enjoy doing and make enough to live
on at it. Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you
are doing, you will be successful. It means doing the best we can with what we have. It is the doing,
not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. It is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that
is in us, becoming all that we can be. The formula of success is simple. We just have to do what's
right at the right time. It doesn't come to you…you go to it. To succeed you need to find something
to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you. Take up one idea. Make that one
idea your life - think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every
part of your body, be full of that idea. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger,
more and more skilled, more and more self – confident and more and more successful. Success is a
hard journey, not a destination. Some people dream of success while others wake up and work hard
at it alone.

I think that we don’t have to aim for success if we want it; just to do what we love and
believe in, and it will come naturally but of course success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with
our hands in pocket.

We are what we read

Except a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book! A message to us from the
dead, from human souls whom we never saw, who lived perhaps thousands of miles away, on those
little sheets of paper, speak to us, teach us, comfort us, open their hearts to us as brothers. The
greatest gift is the passion for reading. It is cheap, it consoles, it distracts, it excites, it gives you
knowledge of the world and experience of a wide kind. It is a moral illumination. What we become
depends on what we read. Books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another
mind. Books support us in our solitude, are masters who instruct us without rods or ferules, without
words or anger, without bread or money. The world of books is the most remarkable creation of
man. Nothing else that he builds ever lasts: monuments fall, nations perish, civilization grow old and
die out, and new races build others. But in the world of books are volumes that have seen this
happen again and again and yet live on, still young, still as fresh as the day they were written, still
telling men's hearts, of the hearts of men centuries dead. Everything you need for better future and
success has already been written. And all you have to do is go to the library.

A life without books is a body without soul.

Informal letter
Dear Ann,

I safely arrived home yesterday. It was a long and very boring flight. Unfortunately nobody met me at
the airport because neither of my relatives or friends could.

As I returned home I realized that I miss all the good moments spend there. I absolutely miss London! I miss
the smell of the pouring rain and the taste of the delicious English tea. I really miss the sound of the Big Ben
and the silence of English nights. I miss all the gardens, parks and public areas of the city - something
seriously lacking in Moldova. And I miss the sound and look of the people of London. I shared my
impressions about the trip I had had to my family and friends. It was difficult to say the most beautiful places
I had seen there because I just love them all. Undoubtedly I will keep in my memory the view from London
Eye and the famous Tower of London. Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Westminster Abbey, the
British Museum gave me an insight of your traditions and English history. I praise much your people
kindness, care and politeness.

I’m grateful to you for such an interesting and great experience. Please keep in touch, and drop in and
visit us whenever you are in this part of the world.

Sincerely yours, Natalie
