We require you to partake in a hybrid working model of 3 days per week in-office with your team.

does not.

What responsibilities will I have as a Software Engineer at Datadog?

Generalist focus at Datadog consists of backend development work mostly in one of the following
languages: Python, Go, Java, and Rust. In addition the role could include close collaboration with
frontend engineers to develop APIs that power the interface of the product.

The backend development portion of this role normally involves development against our commonly used
APIs and datastores like postgres, cassandra, and redis. The developer's focus is on the business logic
that brings these systems together for a new purpose or product. At times we need to develop a new
system, schema, or datastore for a unique purpose and that too may fall into the scope of this role.

Collaboration with Frontend engineers may include the APIs that power human facing interfaces, such as
the web-app of our product, or they may stop at the machine facing interfaces, i.e. APIs used by customer
or partner systems. Hence the developer can partner closely with Product Managers and Frontend
engineers to understand the workflows of API and web-app users.

* Please note we also have more specialized engineering roles available, for example Distributed
Systems, Systems and Tooling, and Frontend teams alongside Systems Development teams, so if you
feel you are better suited to another space, please let me know!
How many team members can I expect to see in the office and which teams are represented?
This number is consistently growing throughout our Madrid and Lisbon offices, these are new spaces that
in the beginning acted as an extension of the Paris teams, now they are official datadog hubs with
distributed teams totalling 60 or more per location, commonly you will be working with 8 people (as an
example; 4 members in Madrid, 2 in Lisbon and 2 in Paris) with opportunities throughout the year and
meet and collaborate with the wider team.
