Context
The Provisioning Tool is a PC-based tool that is used to provision ABB devices to the ABB Ability™ Energy and Asset Manager platform via the ABB Ability™ Edge Industrial Gateway. The Edge Gateway is
an independent IoT gateway which can gather data from field devices – as well as consumption of water and gas, among others – and connect the system to ABB Ability™ Energy and Asset Manager, our
cloud platform. As a result, all downstream field devices can be monitored from the cloud via an Ethernet cable, wi-fi or mobile connectivity
Provisioning of devices to the ABB Ability™ Energy and Asset Manager platform requires the customer to prepare in advance by installing the Provisioning Tool and
preparing their devices. Familiarise yourself with the steps involved so that you can provide help and support.

You need to open ports in both the network firewall and the PC firewall so that the devices can send data to the ABB Ability™ Energy and Asset
Manager. The ports in the network firewall are opened for outgoing connections only, so there is no risk of anything malicious coming through

The operations team can provide support for the commissioning process so feel free to get in touch if you have any problems.
The Provisioning Tool saves a log of its activities which the ABB operations team can use to try and solve any problems. These logs are stored
