SLIP KNOT
A slip knot is the complete beginning of your project.
This will create the first loop of your work.

@Karlijnscorner
Make a loop with your yarn, and pull through the end
attached to your skein through the loop. Put your hook
through the loop. To tighten your slip knot pull at the
short end.

FOUNDATION CHAIN
To begin your Foundation Chain make a Slip Knot and
tug on your working yarn to tighten it around your
hook. You might want to make your foundation chain
on one hook size bigger, to help with tension.

@Karlijnscorner
Yarn over your working yarn and pull through the loop
on your hook. Repeat these steps to create your
foundation chain, this is the beginning of most crochet
projects.

crochet, here's how to:

over and pull up a loop. Then yarn over and pull
through two loops. Yarn over again and pull through
the last two loops.

COLOUR CHANGES
This is how you will be changing colours or yarn after a
row:

@Karlijnscorner
Before making a Slip Stitch to complete the row, make a
slip knot in your new yarn and put it on your hook. (
you will now have 2 loops on your hook, your old and
new yarn). Insert your hook into the first actual Stitch
of the row.

Yarn over with your new yarn and pull through the
loop. (you will now have 3 loops on your hook, 2 of your
new yarn and 1 of your old yarn) Pull through both
loops. Tie the ends of both yarns together for extra
security. Continue with your new yarn.

Sewing the squares together.

Now that you have all your granny squares it’s time to form the bag, you can
attach your squares by sewing, SL ST or SC. I’d advise strips first that you can
than attach together at once.

Make sure that you keep the seams on the same side throughout the entire
process of attaching.

INSTRUCTIONS
Straps:
ROW 1: CH 5, turn

ROW 2: SC Across, CH 1 and turn.

Repeat row 2 until you reach your desired strap length. (keep in mind these
will stretch out over time with use)

Repeat once for the second strap.

Attach the straps on the inside of the bag by sewing them to the base. Make
sure the straps are an even distance away from the sides of the bag.

If you already have an existing tote bag you can choose to use those straps
instead and sew the crochet bag to the tote bag. Make sure the right sides

@Karlijnscorner
are facing each other when sewing.

TIP: make four straps instead and sew them together in pairs of two to
avoid stretching on the straps when you think you will be carrying heavy
things.

weave in all the ends
