Biology SBA

Hypothesis:

* When plants are planted apart, they have better access to necessary resources, which in turns
supports their healthy growth.

Aim:

*To investigate whether the plants that are planted apart have access to necessary resources than
the ones planted closer.

Apparatus:

*Corn seedling, measuring tape, soil, shovel, water, watering cans, pH indicator, manure.

Method:

1. Get 10 corn seedlings of the same age, height and variety.

2. Divide the area and the seedlings into two sections- one for plants to be planted apart and
the other to be planted closer.
3. Prepare the soil with manure in both sections to ensure it is of the same quality and
fertility.
4. Plant the first 5 seedlings 20 cm apart while the other 5 seedlings 2 cm apart.
5. Ensure both sets of plants receive the same amount of sunlight, water and nutrients
throughout the experiment.
6. Regularly monitor and record the growth, health, and development of plants in both
section
7. Measure the plant height, leaf height, and the number of leaves.
8. Conduct soil test using pH indicator.
9. Compare the growth of plants in both sections over the course of a month.
10. Analyze the date collection.

Variables

Independent variables: distance between the corn seedling.

Dependent variables: plant height.

Controlled variables: age of the seedling, height of the seedling, soil’s fertility and quality.
