HANDS ON in 30 min
Goal
The Goal of this HandsOn is to know how Trace on TIA Portal
works.
Requirement
• TIA Portal v15.1
• Basic Knowledge about OBs, FCs und FBs im TIA Portal
Use Case
You have already created a project for your brownie production
line in the TIA Portal and want to record and graph your signals
(variables, parameters ...).
CPU Trace allows you to do this!

CPU Trace
Configuration
HANDS ON in 30 min
The outputs of a signal generator should be recorded in
the trace.
3
1. Integrate the external source "FreqGen.SCL„ in your
2 project and create the block then call it to the Main
OB1.
2. Create an OB30 with 100 ms as cycle time.
1
3. Add a new trace showing at least 3 different curve
4 shapes (e.g., Val_Sinus, Val_Triangle) of the FB.
4. Select a trigger to start the recording
5. Select “rising edge” as the behavior to start the
recording.
5
6. Go online and transfer the trace to the CPU.
7. Save the recording in one measurement for further
use.

7. Start the recording and you will be able to see the actual
values, trigger your Boolean signal in order to start the
sampling.
8. As soon as the sampling ends save your measurements.
9. Open your web server, go under Trace Measurements, and
you will see what you have recorded.

Summary
Signals can be recorded over time.
A recording is performed in the device.
The cycle load is very small and fast.
After completing the recording, the data can also be
automatically copied to SMC and the recording can be
restarted.
