Valedictorian Speech
Valedictorian Speech
Valedictorian Speech
To be honest, I don’t know how to write a speech, and when I was elected by my
classmates to be Valedictorian, I looked like a pleasant peach on the outside. But in the inside, I
was like… I have to get the hell out of here. So after that moment, I took immediate action and
went home and looked on the internet for a very long time. And when I mean a long time, I’m
taking a long time, so long you couldn’t even keep track of time. Well actually I think my mom
did. She said I was in my room for three long days and on the third day my mom came in the
room, and I was staring at the computer like, DUH. Then that’s when I realized I wanted to
create the most beautiful, biggest, and bad ass Valedictorian speech ever. So this is where my
speech ends. And when I say end, I mean start. Like T.S Elliot once said, “What we call the
beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we
start from.” So ladies and gentlemen, Anne Frank and Bill Gates, this is the end to my start of
my Valedictorian Speech
Thank you, thank you everyone, parents, family, friends, teachers, and of course to my
class of 2013. We made it guys! I’m so delighted to be elected as this wonderful position. A
valedictorian to me is what makes a graduation ceremony, that much better. It’s kind of like an
election for a Prime Minister to get to this position. People listen to the nominees, people vote,
people wait, people see, people hear, and people speak. Except I don’t stay for a couple years.
In matter of fact I’m here for less than 5 minutes, then next year, a different group of people
listen to the nominees, then people votes, people wait, people see, people hear, and people
speak. What I’m trying to say is people vote for the best and I’m not the best or anything, but I
guess people think I’m the best? Not saying I am, but I am standing up here so this obviously
means something. I think I am getting a little off topic. Anyways, our journey begins back in
good old year 1999. For all of these incredible people in front of me, was their start of the first
year of school. Mostly known as kindergarten, or SK, or senior kindergarten, or the first year of
school. We all had problems leaving our parents arms. We have been with our parents for four
years, day in, day out, and now they were handing us over to some random stranger who was
going to teach us education. It was hard for me, you, and you too, and even you. Like I said it
was hard for me, so what I’m about to tell you is seriously a true story. The first day of
kindergarten was sort of rough. Correction was rough. I was so sad, it was a painful day. I have
never ever left my mom and dad’s side once since I was born. Now I was going to be put in a
classroom for 7 hours a day with this random teacher. So do you know what I do? When my
parents handed me over to the teacher, literally handed me over to the teacher, she was
grabbing me from my parents with open arms, and I hit her straight in the face. SMACK. Yes,
you heard right. I slapped my kindergarten teacher straight in her face. This taught me a
valuable lesson; don’t hit women ever, no matter what. Anyways, the years went by and we
went through elementary school, which consisted of grade 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and finally grade 8. I
was so excited to leave elementary school and go into high school. But it wasn’t what I
expected. I was expecting things to be more fun, but there’s nothing really fun about writing a
comparison essay about two books. Shout out to Mrs. Barrigar for that. Now were at the grand
finale, graduation. We have been training for 13 years to come to this position. Now we can’t
wait to leave our parents side and go off to college or university. And for the others that want
to be by their parent’s side, they can’t wait to go back to their parent’s basement. But that’s
alright; you only lose 0.5 calories every hour sitting on your couch playing Xbox. So if I did the
math correctly, you’ll lose 2 calories if you play for 4 hours. Now were ready. Now were leaving
high school. Now were the futures tomorrow. Now were going to have to go out there in this
world. Now were going to have to make a difference. This world…This world is full of incredible
things. It’s just a matter of walking through the right doors to find these incredible things. It’s
not all about what’s at the end of the tunnel, it’s about what is in the tunnel, how you made
your way to the end, who you became as a person in the tunnel. Can’t you see? Were all in
imaginary tunnels no one knows about travelling to find something in life, and when you die,
you reached the end of the tunnel. … KRAP! I don’t think I was supposed to tell you that. Now
that you know, I met some incredible people in my tunnel. I had my friends. Whenever I needed
help with something, they would be by my side giving me their opinion about what to do. Little
things from your friends help give you strength and hope to move on. The Next people I met in
the tunnel were these incredible teachers, administrators, mentors, and pedagogues. They are
pretty awesome. They are a persuader of our life. They help guide us down the right path. They
treat us like their own children. I think they are pretty awesome and I don’t think they get
enough recognition. Then finally, we have our family. They have been with us since the
beginning. We can get mad and they will forgive us like it’s nothing. We can get sad and they’ll
be by our side till the moment we crack a smile. We can be happy and they’ll be happy too. We
can graduate and they can sit in a hot sweaty gym for two hours while we receive our diplomas.
So that brings me to the conclusion. Or is it the conclusion? Or is it the conclusion to the start of
a new life?
