3. REPORT
This report gives information on the topic “climate change” which was done by 4 students. This
topic was chosen because climate change has a major impact on society and citizens nowadays.
The group members decided that climate change would be the main topic. Finding sub topics
was easy since we got assistance in doing so. The group benefited more as a group than
individually.
Out of the 12 artefacts that was done, 3 was selected that provided a better understanding of it.
The news report titled “Climate change’s role in the extreme weather around the world” CBS
News, research titled “activists “taken from united nations and “causes of climate change” from
the United Nations, were selected.
News reporter Jericka Duncan said “this year alone we’ve seen a surge in temperatures shifts,
deadly floods and natural disasters all of which ties back to the effects of climate change” Mark
hertsgaard also said “if you’re going to overheat the planet, you’re going to get hotter
temperatures”. Activists research said “act now to protect people and save our planet from the
worst impacts of climate crisis” and causes of climate change said “the world is now warming
faster than at any point in recorded history”. These pieces made climate change easy to
understand.
Formal informative language was used in the news report, activist report and causes of climate
change used informative language.
Climate change exists because of humans and we now have to suffer the consequences. The
news report shows that climate change contributes to extreme weather, activists report shows
what is being done to solve this issue and causes of climate change shows what causes this
issue.
Working in a group was rewarding because we got through with completing this topic on time
and also learnt about the different sub topics.

APPENDIX A- CLIMATE CHANGE

One of the Major impacts of a warming world is an increase in the intensity and frequency of extreme
weather events. The National Climate Assessment finds that the number of heat waves, heavy downpours,
and major hurricanes has increased and the strength of these events has increased, too.
Climate change is expected to worsen the frequency, intensity, and impacts of some types of extreme
weather events. For example, sea level rise increases the impacts of coastal storms and warming can place
more stress on water supplies during droughts.

APPENDIX C-CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE

The main causes of climate change is burning fossil fuels-such as coal, oil and gas- to produce
energy and power transport. Along with other human activities, like cutting down forest and
farming, this releases heat-trapping pollution called greenhouse gases into the atmosphere,
warming the planet and destabilizing the climate.

The world is now warming faster than any point in human history. the effects are extreme
weather patterns, melting ice and raising sea levels. Climate change is already having huge
impacts on people and the environment worldwide.

Human activities that release greenhouse gases need to be urgently curbed as much as possible to
ensure a stable climate and safe world for everyone.
