Discussion
Good Service Practice. For any fault resulting in a service call, Trane recommends that when the
Trane Service Technician arrives on the site that he or she first retrieve and store the Device Data,
the Chiller Service Report, and the Events Log Report from the chiller UC800/Tracer AdaptiView
controls. This will enable an investigation of the operating conditions at the time of and prior to the
failure, if necessary.
Important: Failure to download the data upon reaching the site can result in useful information
being over-written and lost if the chiller is reset or restarted.
To retrieve and store the Device Data:
1. Connect to the UC800 with Tracer™ TU and establish communications.
2. At the top of the Tracer TU screen, select Tools.
3. Select Retrieve Data Logs.
Note the default path that defines the location where the information will be saved. If desired,
the path can be changed to store the file in a job or chiller specific file location of your choice.
4. Select Retrieve.
The Device Data will then be stored; this process can take several minutes.
To save a Chiller Service Report:
1. Select Reports.
2. Select Chiller Service Report.
3. Save a copy of the Chiller Service Report in a file location that can be easily located later.
To save an Events Log Report:
1. Select Reports.
2. Select Events Log Report.
3. Save a copy of the Events Log Report in a file location that can be easily located later.
If the preceding procedures are followed, the stored data can then be viewed later by the Trane
Service Technician if a more in-depth investigation of the fault that occurred is required. The data
will also be available to zip (compress) and send to CenTraVac Technical Service if factory
assistance is required.
Note: Prior to sending any files, contact CenTraVac Technical Service (see “Questions,” below).
