Title: Conduct School Activities in Line with the National Drug


Education Program (NDEP) Week Celebration 2023-2024

II. RATIONALE

A drug is any materials or substance (with the exception of food


and water) which, when taken into the body, alters the body’s function
either physically and/or psychological. Human Being requires drugs to
maintain good health. Taking drugs with the right doctor’s prescription can
help an individual avoid certain diseases or disorders. However, abuse of its
use and purpose is one of the serious problems in the society nowadays
resulting to individual’s physical, mental, and emotional impairment. In order
to address this serious problem in our society, all government offices /
agencies joint forces to adopt and implement drug abuse prevention
programs. The Department of Education responds to manage incidents that
involve drugs problem. The mandated program NDEP in schools will be able
to prevent and manage drug-related incidents when they have effective drug
education, safe and supportive school environment and positive links with
key community agencies.
Schools play important roles in helping to prevent drug use
problems among young people. Thus, the school, Comara T. Manuel Central
Elementary School-SPED Center supports and helps promote the
government’s Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program in School with a
plan of activities.

III. OBJECTIVES

 To engage the grade four to six pupils with activities that give
education and awareness on drugs.
 To use effective Context-Based Approaches in Drug Education
to connect concept to real life.
