a) Installation of Windows
i) Key Stages in Windows Installation

There are three key stages in the process of installation of Windows OS. The following are
discussed along with the demo of Window 11 installation using the UTM virtual machine.
Setting up Windows
After booting Windows ISO file, the Windows Setup process is required to install Windows
properly on the device. It includes two parts - collecting information and installing Windows.
In the collecting information stage, it asks to choose the preferred language, time format and
input method as follows.
After clicking the `Next` button, it asks for the activation key to activate Windows.
After inserting the activation key, continue the process by clicking the `Next` button. Then it
prompts to select the operating system to be installed and accept Microsoft Software
License Terms. In this demo, it installed `Windows 11 Home` and agreed to the terms as
follows.
Then it prompts to set up disk space to install. In this demo, the default drive was used to
install Windows and clicked the `Next` button.
Installing Windows
After that, it started the installation process with the following stages. It first copied Windows
files before installation.
Then it prepared files to be ready for installation.
It installed features of Windows on the drive space that was chosen earlier.
Then it checked the updates and installed them as well.

Finally, installation process was successfully finished and it informed that it would restart to
boot Windows
Creating Account for Windows

After a few minutes, Windows OS was loaded and the configuration process was performed
starting with the region or country selection.
In this demo, Ùnited States` was selected and clicked `Yes` to continue. Then ÙS`
keyboard method was picked as follows.
Following that, it asked to set up username and password to create a login user of Windows
OS as follows.
After confirming the password, it asked to create security questions to recover the device
account as follows.
After that, Windows OS was eventually loaded and ready to use as follows.
ii) Required Device Drivers and Source Locations
To identify required device drivers on Windows OS, it is required to install Drive Booster to
detect outdated device drivers. After downloading Drive Booster, the exe file was opened to
install the application and then the Ìnstall` button was clicked. It started the installation as
follows.
Upon the success of the installation, it was ready to scan device drivers by clicking the
`Scan` button. It started the scanning process as follows.
After scanning, it found two device drivers are outdated. By clicking the Ùpdate Now`
button, it automatically updates device drivers as follows.
Finally, it successfully updated outdated device drivers as below.
iii) Unresolved issues
Even though some device drivers were successfully updated, there were some unresolved
issues that some drivers are not compatible for the device. The following screenshots show
the incompatible device drivers that cannot be installed in the device.
b) Installation of antivirus software
i) Identification of product used

There are tons of antivirus softwares that offers security and privacy of personal computers
these days. Among them, Bitdefender is the top rated antivirus provider that secures
personal computers enhancing the privacy and detecting threats from the Internet. The
primary tools include a firewall, malware scanner, ransomware remediation, VPN and
password manager. It also automates system updates and comes with user-friendly user
interfaces. That’s why Bitdefender will be installed for this assignment.
ii) Key stages in Installation

The following key stages are required to install Bitdefender on the device. To install
Bitdefender, it is required to download the Bitdefender installer (exe file) to download and
install the Bitdefender application. After downloading Bitdefender installer, it was clicked to
open the installer as follows.
After opening the installer, it downloaded the necessary antivirus software from the Internet
as follows.
Upon the successful download, it informed that the software was ready to be installed.
Clicking the Ìnstall` button after accepting the Subscription Agreement started the
installation process as below.
After a few minutes passed by, Bitdefender was successfully installed and ready to use as
follows.
iii) Identification of Problems
During the process of creating an account, it was unable to connect to the server several
times despite a good Internet connection.
After several attempts, it turned out that the use of VPN overcame this issue and the login
form was displayed as follows.
iv) Update Process for Antivirus Software

The update to the latest version of Bitdefender is automatically performed so that it does not
need the manual update. It also can be configured with the intended update check interval to
check the newest version at every time interval. With silent update turning on, the software
will be updated from the background operation.
c) Installation of Office Software
i) Identification of product used

In this assignment, LibreOffice was installed to provide office related softwares such as
document editor, spreadsheet editor, presentation tool and so on. The choice of LibreOffice
includes not because of its free offer but because of its simple and user-friendly interfaces. It
makes users easily adapt to the software without complexity. Being an open software, it
updates the software by the community so that the issues are resolved when encountering
them.
ii) Key stages in Installation

The following main stages are involved to install LibreOffice software on the device after
downloading the installer from the Internet.
To start the installation process, the installation wizard was opened and it displayed the
window form with a welcome message to install on the device as follows.
After clicking the `Next` button, it asks the intended setup type to be installed. In this
assignment, the typical setup type was chosen to install.
Moving on, it started the installation process and it was completed after a few minutes as
below.
The LibreOffice software was successfully installed on the device and was ready to use for
office tasks as below.
