INTRODUCTION -
In this lesson we will learn about :-
a. Air
b. Air Pollution
c. Effects of Air Pollution
d. How Can We Keep The Air Clean?
SUMMARY –
AIR
First we will learn that why we need air?
The answer to this question is that air
provides OXYGEN for animal life and
CARBON DI OXIDE for plant life. Both living
beings and plants need air to live. Without
air there would be no life on Earth.
AIR POLLUTION
When the air becomes dirty due to smoke
and harmful gases it is called AIR
POLLUTION.
We should always breathe clean and fresh
air because breathing impure or dirty air
can make us sick and it can also harm the
atmosphere.
Some major causes of Air Pollution are:-
1. Smoke released by factories and
Plants.
2. Smoke released by vehicles

3. Burning of coal, kerosene oil and


wood for household fire.

4. Use of pesticides and fertilizers in


farms.
5. Bursting of crackers emits poisonous
gases in the air.

EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION


1. Air Pollution causes damage to our
breathing system thus affecting our
Lungs.
2. It can even cause diseases like cancer.
3. It destroys the environment.
4. It causes Global Warming.
HOW WE CAN CONTROL AIR POLLUTION
Some ways to check Air Pollution are:-
1. Walk or ride a bicycle for short
distances. Try to use public transport
instead of using your own vehicle.
2. Plant more trees as they help us to
keep the air clean by absorbing Carbon
dioxide n releasing Oxygen.
3. Do not waste electricity.
4. Do not burst crackers on any festival or
on any celebrations.
5. Instead of using household fuels like
kerosene etc. we should use cleaner
fuels like COOKING GAS.
6. Do not waste water.
7. Recycle paper and plastic.
