System Overview
Thank you for purchasing a Case IH Sprayer with the AutoFold Plus feature by Raven Industries.
After calibration, the AutoFold Plus system monitors the position of each boom section via the rotary sensors
and allows the controller to accurately control boom folding or unfolding operations. Simply hold the AutoFold
switch and watch the booms unfold or rack automatically. Manual operation of the machine boom functions
remains fully intact which allows the operator to manually rack or unfold the booms if necessary or desired.
Note: The AutoFold Plus system reserves a portion of each rotary sensor’s total range for error
detection. The status of AutoFold operation for each section may be displayed by the Raven
controller.
At Raven Industries, we strive to make your experience with our products as rewarding as
possible. One way to improve this experience is to provide us with feedback on this manual.
Your feedback will help shape the future of our product documentation and the overall service
we provide. We appreciate the opportunity to see ourselves as our customers see us and are
eager to gather ideas on how we have been helping or how we can do better.

NOTICE
Please read and exercise the following safety procedures when operating the AutoFold Plus system.
Avoid contact with any sharp edge or abrading surfaces such as, but not limited to:
• Sheared or flame cut edges
• Edges of machined surfaces
• Fastener threads or cap screw heads
• Ends of adjustable hose clamps
• Wire exiting conduit without protection, either ends or side of conduit
• Hose and tube fittings
Allow sufficient clearance from machine component operational zones such as:
• Drive shafts, universal joints and hitches (i.e. 3-point hitch)
• Pulleys, gears, sprockets
• Deflection and backlash of belts and chains
• Adjustment zones of adjustable brackets
• Changes of position in steering and suspension systems
• Moving linkages, cylinders, articulation joints, attachments
• Ground engaging components

Status
Fold Status. The following conditions may be displayed while the AutoFold Plus system is operating:
• When any section is moving, the corresponding status display will indicate In, Out, Up, or Down.
• The direction displays Idle for sections which either have not started or have completed the
current folding sequence.
• The status display will indicate Fail if the sensor voltage is below 0.25 V. The status displays
OOR (Out of Range) when the sensor voltage is above 4.75 V. Refer to Chapter 4,
Troubleshooting, for information on correcting either of these status displays.
Unfold Percentage. The percentage displayed on the AutoFold Status tab is an estimated percent of the each
boom section position. When completely folded and racked, the percentage display for each section will be
0%. When the booms are unfolded and level, the value for each section will be 100%.
Note: The unfold percent estimate may drift slightly by ±3% for each section. If the percentage displays a
value outside of this range, recalibrate the AutoFold Plus system.
Switch Sense. Indicates if a switch sense node is communicating on the CANbus with the AutoFold node.

The sensor count displays a value between 0 and 1023, corresponding to a signal reading of 0 to 5 Volts
respectively.
Important:The controller must observe a minimum of 150 counts and a maximum of 930 counts between the folded
and unfolded positions for each rotary potentiometer sensor. Adjust sensors as necessary to remain within
this specified range.

Calibration
Note: AutoFold uses special logic to prevent boom damage when manual control is used and the system
is not calibrated. When unfolding, hold the middle boom out button for six seconds before
unfolding the tip. If the button is released before six seconds, fold the middle boom in while holding
the button for six seconds. When folding in, hold the outer boom for six seconds before folding the
middle boom in. If the button is released before six seconds, fold the outer boom out while holding
for six seconds before attempting to fold again.
7. Verify that the Machine Selection option is correct for the machine on which the system is currently
operating.
Note: The PWM Frequency value is set from the factory and should not be adjusted for calibration. Refer
to the AutoFold Calibration section on page 9 for assistance with this value.
8. Touch the Calibration button to the right of the Folded Position value. The Set Folded Position prompt will be
displayed.
9. Make sure that both booms are fully folded and racked in the cradles.
CAUTION
Do not overexert the boom into the cradle.
Excessive pressure on the cradle will result in a
faulty calibration and will cause the booms to
come into the cradle too low during an
automatic folding in cycle.
10. Touch the Calibration button at the bottom of the Set Folded Position prompt. The system will save the
current sensor values and will use these values when folding and racking the booms.
11. Touch the Calibration button to the right of the Unfolded Position value. The Set Unfolded Position prompt
will be displayed.
12. Manually unfold both booms and confirm that each boom is completely unfolded and level. Lower the center
rack to a normal spray position.
13. Touch the Calibration button at the bottom of the Set Unfolded Position prompt. The system will save the
current sensor values and will use these values when unfolding the booms.
Note: If AutoFold Plus will not calibrate at the folded or unfolded position, verify that the observed
controller counts provide an acceptable range for operation. Refer to Chapter 4, Troubleshooting,
for more information.
14. Calibration of the AutoFold Plus system is complete.
3 Operation
Safety
Note: Please review and follow the safety precautions outlined in the Important Safety Information
section on page 2 before operating the AutoFold Plus system.
Operation
Once the system has been calibrated, AutoFold is ready to control boom folding and unfolding operations.
To unfold the booms, hold the AutoFold, or One Touch Fold, switch in the UP position. AutoFold will begin
unfolding booms starting with the inner sections of each boom. When the AutoFold switch is held in the DOWN
position, AutoFold will begin folding and racking the booms starting with the outer sections of each boom.
AutoFold operation will stop if the AutoFold or One Touch Fold switch is released.
This chapter covers some of the common problems or issues encountered with the AutoFold Plus system.
Before contacting a local Case IH dealer for support, read and perform the following procedures to eliminate
these issues.
TABLE 1. AutoFold Troubleshooting
Problem Solution
1. Verify that the booms are fully unfolded and in the spray position.
2. The controller must observe a minimum controller count difference
between the folded and unfolded position for each boom section to
establish a working range. Make sure the controller observes the
minimum difference for the following boom sections:
a. Center Rack - 100
AutoFold Plus will not calibrate b. Inner Sections - 500
at the folded or unfolded
position. c. Mid Sections - 400
d. Outer Sections - 400
e. Lift Cylinders - 100
3. Check the sensor data screen. The controller must observe a
minimum of 150 counts and a maximum of 930 counts between the
folded and unfolded positions for each rotary potentiometer sensor.
Adjust sensors as necessary to remain within this specified range.
1. If all sensors indicate failure, check pin A to pin C for on 3-Pin
Weather Pack connector to each sensor for +5 V power. If an
individual sensor indicates failure, check for +5 V power on the
corresponding sensor connector.
2. Manually operate the corresponding section and check to see if the
signal returns to normal working range and the failure is cleared.
Status indicates sensor failure.
a. If the failure is cleared, loosen the corresponding sensor
(potentiometer) bolts and adjust the sensor so that, at the
sensor limits, the sensor does not exceed the normal working
range (150 to 930 controller counts, or 0.5 V to 4.5 V).
3. Check for continuity on signal line (pin B of sensor connector to
corresponding pin on control node).
Problem Solution
1. If all sensors indicate out of range, check ground wiring to sensors
(pin C).
2. Manually operate the corresponding section and check to see if the
signal returns to normal working range and the failure is cleared.
a. If the failure is cleared, loosen the corresponding sensor
(potentiometer) bolts and adjust the sensor so that at it’s limits,
Status indicates out of range. the sensor does not exceed the normal working range (150 to
930 controller counts, or 0.5 V to 4.5 V).
3. Check for +5 V across pins A and C on 3-Pin Weather Pack sensor
connector.
4. Check signal line (pin B of sensor connector to corresponding pin
on control node) for shorts to
+5 V power.
