Amigurumi Mexican doll

A Little Love Everyday ! by Anitha Domacin

I recently reached 15 k followers on Instagram and 500 sales on Etsy! Thank you so
much for your constant support and encouragement. I started my crochet journey
here as a blogger and i'm ever so thankful to my blogging friends for sticking with me
all these years. Here's a small thank you gift from me to all you wonderful people out
there who makes my amigurumi journey worthwhile!
Mexican doll amigurumi is one of the most requested patterns from my amigurumi
collection and i'm so happy to post this free pattern so that you all could enjoy
making them.
Head:

With skin colour yarn,

R1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).

R2: Inc in each st (12).

R3: [Sc, inc] x6 (18).

R4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24).

R5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30).

R6: [4 sc, inc] x6 (36).

R7-11 : Sc in each st (36) .

R12: [4 sc, dec] x6 (30).

R13: [3 sc, dec] x6 (24).

Attach 6 mm safety eyes between R10 and R11 with a distance of 6 stitches in between.
R14: [2 sc, dec] x6 (18).

R15: [Sc, dec] x6 (12).

Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Hands (make 2):

With skin colour yarn,

R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).

R2-4: Sc in each st (6).

Switch to white colour yarn,

R5: Sc in each st (6).

Sc through both the layers of the arms to close (3sc).

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Legs (make 2):

With white colour yarn,

R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).

R2: [2 sc, inc] x 2 (8).

R3-11: Sc in each st (8)

Fasten off the first leg but don’t cut the yarn in second leg. Stuff the legs with fiberfill.

Body (Continued from the legs):

R12: With the second leg, chain 2 and join to the first leg with a single crochet, sc around the
first leg (8 sts), sc in the 2 chains (2 sts), sc around the second leg (8 sts) and sc in the other
side of 2 chains (2 sts). [20 sts in total].

R13: Sc in each st (20).


R14: [8 sc, dec] x 2 (18).

R15: (Work in back loops only) Sc in each st (18).

R16: [4 sc, dec] x 3 (15).

R17: Sc in each st (15).

R18: [3 sc, dec] x 3 (12).

R19: Sc in each st (12).

Stuff the body. Fasten off and sew the end.

Skirt:

Note: for the skirt and skirt frills, we join with a slip stitch at the end of each row and ch
1 at the start of each row.

The ch 1 we make at the start of each row don't count as hdc stitch.

Join black colour yarn to the front loops at the end of R14 of the body and

R1: [2 hdc, hdc inc] x 6 (24).

R2: Hdc in each st (24).

R3: (work in back loops only) [3 hdc, hdc inc] x 6 (30).

R4: Hdc in each st (30).

R5: (work in back loops only) [4 hdc, hdc inc] x 6 (36).

R6: Hdc in each st (36).

R7: (work in back loops only) [5 hdc, hdc inc] x 6 (42).

R8: Hdc in each st (42).

R9: (work in back loops only) [sc in each st] (42).

Fasten off and sew in the end.

Skirt frills:

Join yellow colour yarn to the front loops at the end of R2 of the skirt, ch 1 and
Sc in each st (24).

Join green colour yarn to the front loops at the end of R4 of the skirt, ch 1 and

Sc in each st (30).

Join blue colour yarn to the front loops at the end of R6 of the skirt, ch 1 and

Sc in each st (36).

Join lavender colour yarn to the front loops at the end of R8 of the skirt, ch 1 and

Sc in each st (42).

Fasten off and sew the ends.

Waist belt:

Using red colour yarn,

Ch 20 and sl st to the first stitch to form a ring

R1: sl st in each st (20). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Hair:

With black colour yarn,

R1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6).

R2: Inc in each st (12).

R3: [Sc, inc] x6 (18).


R4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24).

R5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30).

R6: [4 sc, inc] x6 (36).

R7-9 : Sc in each st (36).

R10: 3 sc, 16 hdc, 1 sc, sl st, ch 1 and turn.

R11: Skip the sl st space of R10 and 1 sc, 16 hdc, 3 sc, place the stitch marker here and
continue to 3sc, 11 hdc, 1 sc, sl st, ch 1 and turn.

R12: Skip the sl st space of the previous row and 1 sc, 11 hdc, 3 sc.

R13: Place stitch marker at the end of R12 and

20 sc, sl st in previous sl st space, 15 sc.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Note:

R10 and R11 are worked as rows instead of continuous rounds.

R10 and R12 are worked only till halfway rather than complete rounds.

Headband:

Using black colour yarn,

Ch 38 and sl st to the first st to form a ring.

Ch 2, [dc in each st] and sl st to the first dc (38). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ribbons:

With ribbon colours of your choice,

Chain 7 and sl st to the first chain to form a ring.

R1: hdc in each st and sl st to the first st (7). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Make around 12 to 15 ribbons similarly in different colours. I made 13 ribbons in total using 5
different colours.
Earrings (Make 2):

Using blue colour yarn,

4 sc in magic ring.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembling :

First, we’ll assemble the head

Place the hair in such a way that last st of hair is one stitch away from the back of the head
(see pic below). Sew the hair to the head when you are satisfied with the placement at front.

Place the head band so that it aligns with R11 of hair at the front and sew.

Place the ribbons over the head band and stitch them. Head pins comes in handy to keep the
ribbons in place.

Sew the earrings on either side of the head.

Embroider the mouth using black embroidery thread.

Insert the waist belt through the top of the body and sew it just above the skirt.

Attach the head to the body.

For the blouse design, embroider a half square shape using lavender colour yarn.

Finally attach the arms to the body just below the head.
And your mexican doll is now done!
