REPORT
Blisspoint is the event that lies at the heart of our annual endeavours. It is an event that encapsulates the
essence of our Economics contingent by encouraging innovation, fostering creativity, and stimulating thought-
provoking dialogue among participants. Additionally, it embodies the spirit of innovation, creativity, and
intellectual discourse.
This year, Blisspoint'24 is centred around the theme "India and the New Global Order", serving as a platform
to explore and dissect the evolving dynamics of India's role in the contemporary global landscape.
New World Order (NWO) refers to the emergence of new forms of co-operation amongst different countries
in the 21st century. Its main focus lies on globalisation, international dialogue, pandemics, terrorism and other
issues that require collective action and global attention.
3
Recently, in 2023, India hosted the G-20, a premier forum for international economic cooperation. India
gained much more international economic prominence after hosting the 18th G-20 Summit with over 200
meetings in 60 Indian cities across all 28 states and 8 UTs including New Delhi. The G-20 summit aims to
build bridges between developed and developing countries, marking the end of old multilateralism, and the
beginning of a new order.
Also, with PM Modi’s newest initiative, Viksit Bharat @ 2047 introduced in December 2023, which is the
current government roadmap to making India a completely developed nation by 2047, it is safe to say that
India is slowly but surely acquiring a very important place among the current world leaders. According to PM
Modi, Viksit Bharat aims to nurture inclusive economic participation among all citizens, something that all
nations strive for.
This year, SVC Economics Association’s flagship event- Blisspoint, aimed to explore India’s role in the evolving global
landscape, the primary focus being on the economic opportunities and implications amidst the emergence of a new
world order.
Before calling upon the stage our esteemed speaker, we were delighted to unveil our annual magazine- Econ
Expressions. The editorial team, headed by Akansh Gandhi and Vedansh Lamba, along with the marketing team, headed
by Gracy Gupta and Sansriti Mishra, worked day and night to compile articles, heartwarming notes from the core team
and professors, and activities that were conducted by the Economics Association throughout the academic session. The
magazine, which consisted of highly illuminating articles by students and professors of our college on various topics
related to the field of Economics, was launched with great gusto and pride.
We were honoured to have Dr. Arvind Virmani as our first keynote speaker of the day. Esteemed economist and member
of NITI Aayog, Dr. Virmani specialises in policy and institutional reforms for sustained and inclusive economic growth.
He provided an overview of India’s economic trajectory and its positioning within the shifting geopolitical dynamics of
the 21st century, especially after initiatives like Viksit Bharat 2047 and G20. All students were engrossed in sir’s
compelling presentation, and the discussion afterwards was very fruitful and beneficial for the students.
Our second key speaker of the day, renowned entrepreneur and motivational speaker Mr. Subhashis Nath, carried the
discussion further. Being the founder and CEO of the prestigious Global Risk Management Institute, Mr. Nath is highly
regarded in the field of Economics. He gave us invaluable insight into the field of risk management and how it is crucial
4
for further development of Indian Economics. But along with that, he also gave all students vital motivation to excel in
different fields and disciplines.
The topics of utmost importance were geopolitical shifts and economic realignment and how globalization is affecting
India’s trade and role in the global economy. Another important theme was India’s economic growth due to the digital
transformation in the country over the last 10 years.
The panel discussion was concluded by Dr. Aruna Rao, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Virmani and Mr.
Nath.
After the speaker session, the students dispersed off to different corners of the college to commence with their respective
interactive and entertaining competitions. The various competitions that were held on the first day were: Vanguard,
Carbon Conundrum, Case-a-Blanca, Conspectus and Ecoscape.
These engaging and informative competitions were all successful, ultilizing case competitions, problem analyses,
treasure hunt, quizzes, and the like. All the participants had a very enlightening experience coupled with a lot of fun.
Events Report:
2. Carbon Conundrum
5
Carbon Conundrum was a trade-based simulation. Teams competed to maximise their output in a world
of limited resources and restrictions on carbon emission allowances. Only the top three teams that are
successfully able to harness a market modelled on a sustainable economic system, gauge their
competitors’ prowess, and potentially form cartels and groupings with them, emerged as the winners.
The event had commenced with a briefing session aimed at explaining the rules of the game, which
became clearer with each round of auctioning and trading – as did each team’s competitive streak. At
the end, however, only three emerged as the winners. Team Hawks, comprising Kartik, Priyasha and
Vivan, secured the first position, while Ananya, Akanksha, and Nayonika became the runners-up. The
second runners-up position was awarded to Alok and Anant. The Economics Department faculty was
called, photographs were clicked, and the certificates and prizes were given away.
It was a successful first day of Blisspoint ‘24, the annual fest of the Economics Association, Sri
Venkateswara College, and as much fest-related chaos (and enjoyment) went on outside, in an equally
chaotic manner did teams buy, trade, shout, exclaim, despair, and, most significantly, enjoy
themselves, inside. After the feedback session with the OC and the participants, in which much
constructive criticism was exchanged by both parties, they parted ways, each having gained a little
more understanding of what real-world trading looks like.
3. Case-a-Blanca
Case-A-Blanca was the consulting competition held at Blisspoint by the Economics Association of Sri
Venkateswara College. A total of 8 teams qualified for the final presentation round that was on campus
on the day of the event. Teams were required to solve a case study and prepare a deck, and present it
to the judges in 7 minutes followed by an Q/A session by both the judges and other competing teams.
Judges present were Johan J. Chirackel, President of 180DC SVC; Vansh Chawla, Senior consultant
at 180DC SVC and Dr. Arpita Kaul who teaches Human Resource Management in the Commerce
Department of SVC. The Teacher in charge was Mr. Yogesh Malhotra.
The event was held in the spirit of finding solutions to profound economic problems relating to the
Corporate sector, trade, Macroeconomic policies and their workings.
At the Conclusion, winners were announced, judges were thanked and photos clicked to
commemorate the event.
4. Conspectus
Conspectus is Blisspoint's quintessential research paper presentation event. This signature event of the
fest aimed to embolden the assiduous and analytical skills of young research aspirants, providing them
a platform to showcase their ideas. The topic for the papers was open to choose from, and any research
idea from the field of economics was appreciated.
Conspectus kicked off on 18th April at Blisspoint 24 organised by the Economics Association of Sri
Venkateswara College. The event began with a detailed introduction of all the rules the participants
were supposed to follow as well as an introduction of the esteemed panel of judges setting the stage
for the presentations.Participants delved into the transformative effects of artificial intelligence (AI)
on employment dynamics, highlighting concerns over job displacement and skills mismatch. They
explored the nuanced repercussions of trade wars on global economic growth, emphasizing the
intricate interplay of tariffs, supply chains, and geopolitical tensions. Moreover, presenters elucidated
the burgeoning phenomenon of platform economies, analyzing both the promising opportunities for
innovation and the attendant challenges of regulation and market concentration. The competition
fostered intellectual discourse and critical thinking, offering a platform for students to engage with
contemporary economic debates and propose solutions to complex challenges facing the global
economy.
5. Ecoscape
6
The Ecoscape event, held on the 18th of April at Blisspoint’24 organised by the Economics
Association of Sri Venkateswara College, was a whirlwind of adventure and intellect that left
participants buzzing with excitement. Ten dynamic teams from diverse colleges eagerly entered the
fray, ready to test their mettle in a treasure hunt cum escape room extravaganza.
After a riveting treasure hunt that challenged both wits and endurance, only two teams, rohitraj70038
and samykjain005 , emerged victorious, earning their coveted spots in the heart-pounding escape room
finale.
As the tension mounted, samykjain005 team showcased their prowess, navigating through a labyrinth
of cryptic puzzles with finesse and teamwork. With each solved challenge, they edged closer to victory
until, finally, they emerged triumphant, their jubilant cheers echoing through the halls.
Blusspoint’s Ecoscape event was more than just a competition; it was a testament to the power of
collaboration, creativity, and perseverance. Participants forged bonds, pushed boundaries, and
discovered new depths of their capabilities, all under the banner of thrilling adventure.
Congratulations to samykjain005 team for their well-deserved win, and to all participants for making
Ecoscape an unforgettable journey filled with camaraderie, challenge, and triumph.
The Economics Association of Sri Venkateswara College, under its flagship event Blisspoint-2024, invited
Professor Biswajit Dhar as the chief guest. Professor Dhar, a distinguished professor at the Centre for
Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, was invited to present the keynote
address on the topic 'India and the Global Order with a special focus on Economic Reforms 2014-2024'. The
event was initiated by Haripriya Muralidhar, president of the Economics Association, who welcomed
Professor Dhar with a quick speech. Dr Aruna Rao, Teacher-in-charge, thanked our esteemed guest and along
with Dr Sheebani Goswami presented the guest with a memento. S. Krishna Kumar sir then shared with the
audience how he first met Professor Dhar, sharing a short note about the chief guest. Professor Dhar was then
called on to share his insights on the fascinating topic
Professor Dhar started by mentioning that the best years of his career were spent along with students in the
classrooms of JNU. He shared his thoughts on India's domestic industry and foreign trade during different
phases of the economy- The late 1980s and the 2010s. He mentioned various economic initiatives taken during
the past decade, including the introduction of GST, the Make in India initiative, the PLI scheme etc.
Professor Dhar spoke on many problems, concerning labour organisations, the environment, unemployment,
the manufacturing sector and more. A key topic of discussion was the comparison of the development of India
and China. Professor Dhar stressed that due to various factors, including ease in getting clearances and setting
up workstations, China has been more successful with regard to foreign investment. He stressed that India's
point of increasing domestic production by sidelining imports has created a sort of import substitution policy,
and that foreign companies come to India just to maximise profits, and not to develop the environment
7
The keynote came to an end with an interactive question-and-answer session, following which D. Brahma
Reddy sir expressed his deepest gratitude towards Professor Dhar for his presence, on behalf of the Economics
Department of SVC.
After the keynote address, the students proceeded to their respective competitions. The competitions being
held on the second day were: Vanguard (continuing from day 1), Big Brand Theory, De Battle, Econquizta
and Footlocker. On the second day, we saw the completion of all events for Blisspoint-2024. All the members
and organising staff were then invited to explore the various stalls set-up within the college premises. With
that, Day 2 was a big success!

dynamics. These student economists engaged deeply, forming strategic alliances to advocate for
robust, sustainable economic policies. Their presentations highlighted innovative solutions aimed at

The second round of the auction introduced a unique twist, utilizing a Google Form where teams could
purchase remaining players from the transfer window. This innovative approach streamlined the
process and added a modern touch to the traditional auction format, allowing teams to strategically
bolster their squads.
One of the most memorable moments of the night was the bidding war between football legends
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Despite their rivalry, Messi emerged victorious, adding an extra

arguments presented by all sides.
The event kicked off with the unveiling of the first motion for the preliminary round, prompting teams
