Assessment 2
Part A – Written or Oral Questions
1. How can you build an environment of trust with a team, to keep them
working together towards achieving the team goals?
Building an environment of trust with a team and keep them
working together towards achieving the team goals is possible
through the following activities:
- Establish rapport: It’s an important part of managing team
and can be achieved by making all team members feel
valued and by building trust among other members with the
purpose of improving the team performance. This also helps
to get the team to continue working together towards
achieving team goals, expectations, and objectives.
- Team Building Activities: Group activities can help to create
bonds between team members and encourage them to work
together towards achieving team goals. These activities also
help team members develop problem solving skills and getting
to know each other helps them be more motivated and
adaptable to the work environment.
- Team Consultation: team members will be able to establish a
common understanding of the team purpose, roles,
responsibilities and accountabilities in accordance with
organisational goals, plans and objectives. They will also learn
how to help each other effectively in order to achieve the goals.
- Team Cohesion: it’s what keeps any group or team together
and prevents group fragmentation; this is a key element of
managing a team. It may be achieved through mentoring,
training and development activities within a team in order to
apply them in a working environment. When applied, they help
build trust within a team and keep working together towards
achieving team goals.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Coaching involves creating a
positive environment for learners to perform to the top of their
abilities. It allows the learner to analyse a situation and discover
the solutions. Mentoring involves regular contact with a person
and guides them through the learning process. The learner will
be able to use the skills learned when handling difficult
situations in the workplace.
2. How can you assess group behaviour and use strategies to guide the team?
Why is it important to resolve issues brought to your team?
It is possible to assess the group behaviour using data collected from
managers; such as feedback, questionnaires, performance reviews,
KPI’s, and self-assessments, in order to identify information about
employees. This helps have a clear idea of what goes on in the

workplace and helps find the best way to assess the problem at hand.
It is also possible to assess group behaviour by using the W.I.S.H.
Team Review. This is a process that has the purpose to analyse and
assess the team members in order to obtain a realistic view of where
your team work is located at a specific point in time. This tool also
assists in the growth and development of the team members.
Strategies to guide the team might include a professional code of
conduct; a document laid out by the organisation which clearly states
the expectations for behaviour, responsibilities and actions of team
members. The organisational code of conduct provides a professional
framework for all team members to work around and incorporate values
and attitudes expected in the industry.
It is important to resolve issues brought to a work team because these
might have a negative impact on individual and/or team work progress
and performance. Conflicts brought to a work team could also negatively
affect the group and the work environment in general. Not dealing with
these issues on time might cause the problem to get bigger and
unsolvable; this would result in a negative outcome for the organisation.
3. How can you come to group agreements in the team?
It is possible to come to group agreements in the team by providing
opportunities for discussion and feedback of any issues or inconveniences in
order to be able to solve them adequately. Some activities that can help come
to group agreements are:
- Meetings: a group of people who come together to discuss their
progress, solve any issues or inconveniences and present all relevant
information.
- One-to-one sessions: involve two people talking about the different
elements at work. It is usually held between an authority and a
subordinate.
- Action learning sets: involves a small group of people who come
together with a learning facilitator to discuss work issues and find
common ideas in the team.
- Drop-in sessions: involve one or more people who are seeking
support, advice, with a quick word with a manager in order to discuss
any relevant issues or find solutions to any inconveniences and come
up with a common agreement.
- Brainstorming sessions: a creative process that involves a group of
people coming together in order to share ideas and look for solutions to
the group problems.
- Suggestion boxes: a place where employees can make anonymously
comments about some issues that might be too delicate to share out
loud. The group can then read the comments and find possible
solutions to them, without putting pressure on an individual for
mentioning it.

Part B – Written or Oral Questions

1. How can the team understand their roles and have support to reach their
goals?
Team members can understand their roles through team consultation,
which allows them to establish a common understanding of team
purpose, roles, responsibilities and accountabilities in accordance with
the organisational goals, plans and objectives. We can also use
strategies to communicate all team members about their role and the
expectations for the employee’s performance providing them with a
job description and details of their individual roles.
Assisting team members to understand their roles and have support to
reach their goals can be done through meetings, interviews,
brainstorming sessions, email, newsletters, etc. These ensure that all
employees have the opportunity to contribute with the individual and
team performance in order to reach both individual and team goals.
2. Why is it important all members of the team help with decision making and
taking responsibility for their role?
It is important for all members to help with the decision making because
being able to demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills
are key to achieve goals and objectives. All team members should
develop and implement these skills in order to make decisions and
identify both inconveniences and opportunities. Then they must
evaluate the situation and decide on an appropriate course of action.
Being included in the decision making process and taking responsibility
for their role provides individuals with a feeling of belonging and
empowerment. They might also be more willing to work together as a
group and improve individual and team motivation effectively.
3. How can positive and negative behaviour be addressed in the group?
Positive behaviour works as a role model for others and can promote work
inspiration and motivate them to improve their performance and productivity.
A team member might become a mentor to the team by demonstrating skills
on leadership and responsibility and by showing the team that you can be
trusted if you are fair, hones, consistent in both your personal and
professional objectives.
Negative behaviour must be addressed and eliminated in the organisation as
soon as possible to prevent its spread in other team members. We can do
this by providing a code of conduct; which is a document laid out by the
organisation that states expectations for behaviour, responsibilities and
actions of team members. The organisational code of conduct provides a
professional framework for all team members to work around and
incorporates values and attitudes expected in an industry. It is also possible
to identify and address a negative behaviour by providing constructive
feedback and conducting team meetings with the purpose of improving
behaviour.
4. Why is important to be a role model for the team?

It is important to be a role model because it promotes work inspiration,

high job performance and productivity among team members. A role
model is not only an example to follow, but a mentor for other team
members who can assess them when in doubt.
A role model has a clear idea of what to do in order to accomplish the
goals and objectives set by the organisation. By sharing these ideas, we
can ensure the team’s effective work to reach the goals and objectives.
A role model is someone who is trusted and admired by team members;
they will look for him for support and guidance.
5. How can the stakeholders be communicated with?
When communicating with stakeholders, it is important to use a strategic
approach. It should ensure that the communication is two-way, proactive and
that it offers stakeholders the opportunity to ask questions and give their
opinions. It is also necessary to establish the needs and requirements of
stakeholders before selecting the best methods for communication in order to
ensure efficiency and accuracy in the communication process.
Some effective communication methods can be:
- Reports
- Presentations
- Newsletters
- Group meetings
- One-to-one meetings
- Emails
6. How can you pass accurate information between the team and management
and vice versa?
In order to pass accurate information between the team and management
it’s necessary for the management to make sure that their team is aware of
the expectations and objectives in the organisation. They must also
understand that their team’s objectives help achieve the organisation’s
objectives. When we talk about communication between the team and
management from a team perspective, it is important for each team member
to understand how their role enables the organisation to meet the objectives
and to make sure a regular communication channel with the management is
established.
Some techniques to give accurate information between the team and the
management include:
- Communicate status reports regularly.
- Develop and implement a team communication plan.
- Invite management to one of the team meetings.
- Present ideas for regular communication in the future.

- Present new ideas for future regular communication.

- Ask management how they want the communication to be (written,
oral, etc.) and how often they want it to be.
- Indicate your team’s desire to help the company be successful.

7. Why is it important that problems raised by stakeholders are investigated?

It is important to identify and investigate the nature of the issues,
concerns and problems raised by stakeholders in order to take action in
an effective manner and avoid any negative situations that could present.
It is essential to track concerns and problems and to ensure that you have
communicated with them responsibly to be able to solve the problem as
soon as possible.
It is important to create a report that states when the issue was identified,
provide full details on what has happened, identify the cause of the issue,
how it might impact if unresolved. Then provide possible solutions to solve
the problem and state what the agreement you have come to with the
stakeholder is. This
