CHAPTER 1
Introduction
Project Context
The "Driving School Management System" is a computer
program that helps driving schools with their daily tasks and activities. It allows them to automate processes and keep track of important information. For example, the system lets driving schools schedule classes electronically and keep records of students who take driving lessons.
Usually, driving schools use manual methods to manage
their operations and interact with students. They write down student information and schedules by hand. However, this manual approach is ineffective and can lead to mistakes. Sometimes, records of students, especially their payment information, can get lost. The driving school and the students may face difficulties due to physical barriers and limited time when doing these tasks.
Implementing a driving school management system as a
capstone project can face various challenges. Some common problems include technical issues, data security concerns, user adoption and training difficulties, integration challenges, scalability issues, user experience problems, and system maintenance and upgrades. These challenges involve ensuring the system works smoothly, protecting student data, helping staff adjust to the new system, integrating with existing software, accommodating growth, providing an easy-to-use interface, and maintaining the system's performance. Overcoming these challenges requires careful planning, support, and ongoing monitoring. The driving school can benefit from an efficient and effective management system by addressing these issues.
To solve these problems, researchers have proposed the
Driving School Management System. This system automates the daily tasks of driving schools, such as managing student information, scheduling classes, and handling payment transactions. It uses electronic recording and storage to keep track of all the students enrolled in a specific driving school. The proposed system is designed to be efficient and reliable, making it easier for driving schools to manage their operations. Purpose and Description
The purpose of the driving school management system is
to help driving schools streamline their operations and improve efficiency. It aims to simplify tasks like scheduling driving lessons, managing student records, and handling payments. The system is designed to make running a driving school easier and more organized.
The driving school management system is a computer
program that assists driving schools in managing their day- to-day activities. It serves as a central hub for storing and organizing student information, including personal details, enrollment records, and payment history. The system allows driving schools to schedule driving lessons electronically, making it convenient for both students and instructors. It also facilitates online payments, reducing paperwork and administrative work. With its user-friendly interface, the system is easy to navigate for administrators and students alike. Overall, the driving school management system aims to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and provide a hassle-free experience for driving schools and their students. Objectives of the Study
The main objective of the project is to design and
develop a Driving School Management System that will serve as a platform to electronically do processes and transactions related to driving school management.
1. develop a system that will allow driving schools
to electronically record students’ information; 2. provide system will serve as a repository of the student’s record enrolled for driving lessons; 3. develop a system that will ease up scheduling student’s driving lessons and payments; 4. implement an easy, efficient, and reliable to use the system; 5. improve a system that can handle the growing number of students, instructors, and tasks as the driving school expands; 6. ISO 9126; Scope and Delimitations
The driving school management system aims to automate
various tasks within a driving school, such as student record management, scheduling of driving lessons, and payment processing. It provides a comprehensive solution to improve the efficiency and organization of driving school operations. The system focuses on centralizing student information, streamlining scheduling processes, and facilitating convenient payment methods. It also offers reporting and analytics features to gain insights into student progress and financial data. While customization is considered, the system has predefined features and configurations that may have limitations. Basic training and documentation are provided, but extensive support and integration with external systems may have constraints.
The system's functionality may be influenced by the
hardware and software resources available, affecting performance and capabilities. Connectivity requirements, such as internet access, may be necessary for certain features. Customization and adaptability to specific driving school requirements may have limitations, as the system may have predefined features. Extensive training and support for driving school staff may not be included, and external integration with other software or systems may have limitations or require additional customization. Awareness of these delimitations helps manage expectations and ensures a realistic understanding of the system's capabilities and constraints. Significance of the Study
The importance of the study can be identified by the
outcome it provides to the following group of individuals:
Driving Schools. If the result of the study is significant,
driving schools will have a system that will assist them in their daily operation. The system will be efficient in handling all processes electronically and eliminate the manual approach that may encounter a lot of difficulties.
Driving Instructors. By having the system, they can easily
track students who are scheduled for a driving session. They can easily look for updates and communicate with their students.
Students. Students who want to enroll and avail driving
lessons will be benefited by the success of the project. It will be easier for them to register, schedule and pay for their driving lesson. Transacting to driving lessons will be convenient for them.
Researchers. The researchers of the study will gain more
experience, knowledge, and skills as program developers.
Future Researchers. The study can serve as their guide if
they wish to pursue the same project or even in developing their own version. Definition of Terms
Centralize. To gather or consolidate information or
processes into a centralized location or system. In the context of the driving school management system, it refers to the system's ability to store and organize student information in a single, accessible repository.
Data Security Concerns. Issues or considerations regarding
the protection and confidentiality of student information stored within the driving school management system, including measures to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
Hassle-free. Describing a process or experience that is
easy, convenient, and free from difficulties or complications. In the context of the driving school management system, it refers to the system's goal of providing a smooth and trouble-free experience for both driving schools and their students.
Integration Challenges. Difficulties in integrating the
driving school management system with existing software or systems used by the driving school, such as accounting or student information systems. This includes ensuring smooth data flow and compatibility between different systems.
ISO 9126: A set of international standards that defines
quality characteristics and metrics for software products. In the context of this study, ISO 9126 may be used as a reference for evaluating the quality and performance of the driving school management system. Scalability Issues. Challenges related to the ability of the driving school management system to handle a growing number of students, instructors, and tasks as the driving.
Streamline. To simplify or optimize processes, making them
more efficient and effective. In the context of the driving school management system, it refers to the system's aim of improving and streamlining various tasks and activities within a driving school.
