Ans to the Qs N0.1 (a)

In the below table we have found out the x̅ and Range for the further calculation-

Avera x- Average R-
bar 10.9 bar 63.5

For x̅ chart, the formula is-

Here the center Line = 10.9

UCL = 10.9 + (0.577) * 63.5 = 47.53

LCL= 10.9 – (0.577) * 63.5 = -25.73

For R̅ - chart the formula is –

Here,

The center Line = 63.5

UCL = 2.114 * 63.5 = 134.3

LCL = 0 * 63.5 = 0

From Minitab we can have the below control chart-

The process is in statistical control with no out-of-control signals, runs, trends, or cycles.
Ans to the Qs N0.1 (b)

We know,

= ( 63.5/2.326) = 27.3

Ans to the Qs N0.1 (c)

Here,

USL = 100

LSL = -100

We know,

= (100-(-100)) / (6 * 27.3)

= 1.22

So the process is capable.

Ans to the Qs N0.2 (a)

Here,

n = 50

m = 20
We know,

= 107 / ( 50 * 20)

= 0.107

Here,

P̅ = 0.107

UCL = 0.107 + 3* (√(0.107(1-0.107))/50) = 0.238

LCL = 0.107 - 3* (√(0.107(1-0.107))/50) = 0

The process is not in statistical control. Day 16 exceeds the upper control limit.

Ans to the Qs N0.2 (b)

We have omitted subgroup 16 in Minitab (as this point was out of the control limit) while estimating the
center line and control limits for process monitoring in the next period-

Here,

Center Line = 0.0916

UCL = 0.2139

LCL = 0
Ans to the Qs N0.3 (a)
Here,

= ( 80/3750)

= 0.0221

We know,

For n = 100,

0.0221 ± 3 √(0.0221(1-0.0221))/100 = (0, 0.0662)

For n = 150,

0.0221 ± 3 √(0.0221(1-0.0221))/150 = (0, 0.0581)

For n = 200,

0.0221 ± 3 √(0.0221(1-0.0221))/200 = (0, 0.0533)

For n = 250,

0.0221 ± 3 √(0.0221(1-0.0221))/250 = (0, 0.0500)

Ans to the Qs N0.3 (b)

We can have two ways for controlling future production. Unless there is a different size sample or a plot

point close to a control limit, the first strategy would be to plot and apply constant limits.

So the control limit will be =

= 0.0221 ± 3√(0.0221(1-0.0221))/n)

Another way is to construct standardized control limits to plot Z = ( Pi – 0.0221)/ √(0.0221(1-0.0221))/n)

Ans to the Qs N0.4

Here,

P1 = 0.10

P2 = 0.20

ᵟ = P2- P1 = 0.20-0.10 = 0.10

We know,

= (3/ 0.10)² * 0.10 * (1-0.10) = 81
