Trainer/Assessor Feedback:
Competency based assessment focuses on your ability to perform the required tasks to the
standard expected within the workplace. It involves you providing evidence to confirm that
you have the skills and knowledge required for competency. This evidence is in the form of
your completion of the assessment tasks for each unit.
Feedback
Once you have submitted your completed assessment, your assessor will mark your
submission. You will be given feedback on all assessment activities within 10 days of receiving
your assessment.
Competency based assessment does not use a marking scale rather, the candidate is deemed
‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’. To be deemed ‘competent’ you must achieve a
satisfactory result for all the assessment tasks that make up the unit. If you are deemed ‘not
yet competent’ in the unit, you will be given detailed feedback from your assessor to assist
you with improving your performance in the assessment tasks marked ‘not yet competent’. If
you are unable to answer a question or demonstrate a practical skill, you will be marked ‘not
yet competent’. Your assessor will work with you to identify opportunities for further
learning (if required). You will also be given the opportunity to resubmit your answers for the
tasks marked ‘not yet competent’ and be re-assessed by your assessor.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a form of cheating. It is taking and using someone else’s thoughts, writings or
inventions and representing them as your own. You must be careful when using work from
others. Copyright covers all work that is not your own including textbooks, newspapers,
website information, music, magazines, movies etc. All material taken from another source,
word for word or paraphrased, must be acknowledge using an acceptable referencing
system. Please refer to your QTS Assessment Handbook for a guide to referencing your work.
Plagiarism is a serious act and may result in exclusion from a unit or your course. If you have
any doubts about including the work of other authors in your assessments, please consult
with your trainer.
The following list outlines some of the activities for which you can be accused of plagiarism:
If your trainer has reasonable grounds to believe that plagiarism has occurred, they must
report the matter to Quality training Solutions Managing Director.
The QTS Managing Director will advise you, in writing of their concerns of plagiarism in your
submitted assessment. They will also advise that further investigation will be undertaken and
once a decision has been made, appropriate disciplinary action will be implemented. During
this investigation you will be given the opportunity to respond. A record of all communication
and outcomes will be included in your student file.
If it is determined that you have committed a serious offence or that it was intentional, you
will be immediately un-enrolled from the unit and advised of the decision in writing by the
Managing Director. Should you wish to complete the unit, you will be required to re-enrol in
the unit and pay the associated course fees.
Should you continue to cheat or plagiarize, you will be advised, in writing that your
enrolment with Quality Training Solutions will be terminated (without refund).
You have the right to appeal, in writing within 21 days of the Managing Directors decision.
Please follow the appeals policy outlined in your student handbook should you wish to
appeal the decision. Students may choose to appeal for several reasons including, but not
limited to the student’s belief:
Once an assessment is completed, if you disagree with the assessment result you can appeal
the result and be reassessed if necessary. You can refer to Quality Training Solutions Student
Handbook for information regarding the QTS Appeals Policy and process.
