User Guide
To access SCORE, you will need to have received Registration letters from Sony Music
Publishing LLC and created your User ID as directed in the letters. If you have experienced
any difficulties with this part of the process, please contact your local Sony Music Publishing
LLC office for assistance.
Following the creation of your User ID, you will be sent two separate emails from Sony
Music Publishing LLC:
1) A welcome email confirming your User ID has been granted access to SCORE
(includes user guide link).
2) An email containing your temporary password.
The first time you log in you will be prompted to change your temporary password and create
personal security questions and answers. Please make sure you keep your password safe!
Please enter https://score.sonymusicpub.com into your web browser. The very first time you log
in, you will be presented with a pop-up regarding cookies. Most websites use cookies, however we
do not place any cookies on a user’s machine unless prior permission is granted. It will be
necessary for you to accept cookies to use SCORE as it will not function without them. Note from
the pop-up you can review our cookie policy and find out more about them. This is a onetime
acceptance until such time your browser cookies are cleared, and then re-acceptance will be
required.
Please enter your User ID and temporary password and click on ‘Login’:
After accepting the Terms & Conditions, you will be prompted to create your own personal security
questions and answers. This is necessary in case you lose your password. In such case, SCORE
will ask you for your security questions.
Please enter security questions and answers in the relevant fields as shown in the
example below. When complete, click ‘Submit’.
Example:
Please create New Password – note that the password will have to be a minimum
of 12 characters and must contain 1 number and a mixture of lower and upper
case. Special characters like !, @, #, $, % and so forth may also be used.
Please note you will only need to do all the above steps the very first time you log on to the
website. The next time you log on, you will just need to enter your User ID and the password you
created in order to access your statements.
If you have forgotten your password, click on the ‘Forgot Password?’ link.
Once you have clicked on ‘Forgot Password?’, you will be prompted to enter your
User ID and then click ‘Next’.
You will then be prompted to answer the security questions that you created when
you first logged in. Complete the answers and then click ‘Submit’:
Log into the site using the temporary password received in your email (you will be
prompted to change it to one of your own choosing).
If you have forgotten your User ID, click on the ‘Forgot User ID?’ link.
After entering your email address, click ‘Submit’ and an email will be sent to your
email address with the User ID on file.
Note: If you enter the wrong Password 5 times your account will be locked, and you will have to
use the ‘Forgot Password?’ link to reset your details.
Note: If you are unable to retrieve your User ID via the ‘Forgot User ID?’ link provided, you will
need to locate your welcome email or contact your local Sony Music Publishing LLC office for
assistance.
Note: For security reasons, your account will be disabled if your security questions are answered
incorrectly numerous times. If this happens, please contact your local Sony Music Publishing LLC
office for assistance.
When you access SCORE from a new device or if you do not access SCORE for an extended period
of time, a verification code authentication is required to access SCORE.
The verification code will be emailed to you and you will be presented with a screen similar to the
one shown below. Enter the code in the space provided and select “This is a trusted device.”
checkbox (except when using a shared/public computer or mobile device).
If you are unable to locate your verification code in your email, you may request another code by
selecting ‘Send A New Code’.
If you still have log in issues after following the reset procedures, then we would recommend you
clear your browser cookies and cache and try the log in procedure again. The method for doing so
differs on each browser. The example below is if you are using the Firefox browser:
From the main menu, select ‘More Tools’ then select ‘Clear browsing data’
If problems persist then please contact your local Sony Music Publishing LLC office
for assistance.
Please note: SCORE works best when using a minimum screen resolution of 1920 X 1080
and scale set to 100%. If your browser or screen is zoomed in, you may want to set it to
100% to provide the optimal view for all SCORE features.
The SCORE Home page will display all of the client/payee account name(s) and code(s) that have
been linked to your SCORE User ID on the left panel. You may select an individual client/payee by
clicking directly on the client/payee name.
Please note if you are a new client with no prior royalty earnings, there may not be any details
displayed on your account until earnings are processed and updated on SCORE.
Click on to expand the left panel client/payee account list. Click on again to
collapse the view.
The Next Statement Due at the top right of the page shows the number of days until
your next statement will be available.
At any time, you may switch to another client/payee by clicking directly on the desired
client/payee name in the left panel. This action will take you to the home
page/Dashboard view for the selected client/payee.
Clicking the Home Icon (or your browser’s back button) will return you to the home
page/Dashboard view for the currently selected client/payee:
The Dashboard provides a high-level chart analysis of earnings for the selected client/payee
account.
Your Prior Statement balance is shown in blue in the ‘Prior Statement Balance’
box. Prior Statement represents the previous period that has already been
reported to you. Click on the arrow to expand for more details on the Prior
Statement Balance. Click arrow again to collapse.
Earnings Totals graph – Illustrates the total earnings by income types for the selected
client/payee and time period. To view the Earnings Totals graph, click on the Earnings by
Period icon on the Dashboard. You will see the earnings totals on the right side of the
screen.
Earnings by Territory Graph – Represents the proportion of earnings by territory for the
selected client/payee and time period. To view the Earnings By Territory graph, click on the
Earnings by Territory icon on the Dashboard. You will see the earnings graph on the right
side of the screen.
2.2 Summaries
The Summaries tab shows high level details for the selected client/payee account.
Statement Summary - The Statement Summary page will show the high-level details for
each statement period for the selected client/payee account. To view the Statement
Summary, click on the Statement Summary icon at the top left of the Summaries tab.
Opening Balance: Account balance at the start of the period. Positive balances
represent your prior period’s payable balance, while negative balances represent
your remaining un-recouped balance at the start of the period.
Payments: Credit Balance Payments made during the statement period.
Advances: Total of all advances paid during the statement period.
Other Charges: Total of other expenses that have been charged to you during the
period, including such items as demos and legal fees.
Adjustments: Total of any non-royalty adjustments that do not fit the other
categories listed here.
Song Earnings: Total of the royalty credited during the statement period.
Balance or Closing Balance: Current balance not yet accounted or the balance at
the end of the period (after the above financial changes are applied).
Earnings Summary – The Earnings Summary page shows the income for the selected
statement period broken out by:
To view the Earnings Summary page, click on the Earnings Summary icon at the top left of
the Summaries tab.
To adjust the period, select the period you want to view from the period drop downs at the
top of the page.
Source Summary – The Source Summary page shows the earnings reported to Sony Music
Publishing LLC by all sources for the selected statement period.
To view the Source Summary page, click on the Source Summary icon at the top left of the
Summaries tab.
Source: Party which reported income to Sony Music Publishing LLC (e.g. Harry Fox
Agency, SAMP Australia etc.).
Income Type Category: Income Type Categories can be found in Appendix A-1.
Income Type: Income Types can be found in Appendix A-1.
Client Amount: Share of royalties received by Sony Music Publishing LLC.
Client Total: Total share of royalties credited to your client account.
To view the Sub-Source Summary page, click on the Source Summary icon at the top right
of the Summaries tab, and then click on the ‘Sub Source’ radio button at the top right.
Source: Party which reported income to Sony Music Publishing LLC (e.g. Harry Fox
Agency, SAMP Australia etc.).
Sub-Source: Party which reported income to the source (above). For example, the
source may show another Sony Music Publishing LLC Affiliate (e.g. SAMP Australia)
and the sub-source will show the relevant country’s Society (e.g. AMCOS).
Income Type Category: Income Type Categories can be found in Appendix A-1.
Income Type: Income Types can be found in Appendix A-1.
Client Amount: Share of royalties received by Sony Music Publishing LLC.
Client Total: Total share of royalties credited to your client account.
By default, the song list is displayed alphabetically by song title. To sort the list by client
royalty amount, click on the arrow next to ‘Client Royalty’. To resort the list again by song
title, click on the arrow next to “Song”.
Song Income Type Summary – The Song Income Type Summary page shows the
earnings by Song Title, Income Type Category, and Income Type for a selected statement
period.
To view the Song Summary page, click on the Song Summary icon at the top left of the
Summaries tab and then click on the ‘Song Income Type’ radio button at the top right of the
page.
Transaction Summary – The Transaction Summary shows the financial transactions that
have been posted to the client account for a selected statement period by Category and
Type.
To view the Transaction Summary page, click on the Transaction Summary icon at the top
left of the Summaries tab.
The Details tab shows detailed earnings data for selected Prior statement period(s).
Transaction Details – The Transaction Details page shows the individual financial
transactions for selected Prior statement period(s). Please note you may advance to
additional pages by using the pagination function at the bottom of the screen.
To view the Transaction Details page, click on the Transaction Details icon at the top left of
the Details tab.
Transaction Details provides two filters which allow you to change the data displayed
according to your preferences:
Transaction Category
Transaction Type
To view the Earnings Details page, click on the Earnings Details icon at the top left of the
Details tab.
Earnings Details provides various filters which allow you to change the data displayed
according to your preferences.
The Song Details tab provides details of all songs associated to the selected client/payee.
Alerts – The Alerts page lists all songs associated to the selected client/payee that have
issues preventing full registration and collection, such as missing information or disputes.
For more information on any songs appearing on this page, please contact your local Sony
Music Publishing office. If there are no issues with any songs associated to the selected
client/payee, the Alerts page will not be visible.
Song Details – The Song Details page shows the Interested Parties, Registration Details,
Albums/Soundtracks, and Alternate titles for each song associated to the selected
client/payee.
Interested Parties View – To view the Interested Parties View page, click on the
‘Interested Parties View’ slider.
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
Writers: The songwriters associated to the song.
User can search and filter the song list by song, publisher, or writer using the filter fields at
the top of the page.
To view additional details, click on the arrow to the right to expand the song.
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
Writers: The songwriters associated to the song.
Publishers: The publishers associated to the song.
Controlled %: The percentage controlled by each writer and publisher.
Mechanical collection: The percentage of mechanical income each writer and
publisher is entitled to collect.
Performance collection: The percentage of performance income each writer and
publisher is entitled to collect.
Synchronization collection: The percentage of synchronization income each
writer and publisher is entitled to collect.
Registrations View – To view the Registrations View page, click on the ‘Registrations
View’ slider.
The default view of the Registrations page displays the following details:
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
Accepted %: The percentage of total registrations that have been accepted by the
society to which they were submitted.
User can search and filter the song list by song, territory, society, or status using the filter
fields at the top of the page.
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
Accepted %: The percentage of total registrations that have been accepted by the
society to which they were submitted.
Territory: The country in which the rights society is located.
Society: The rights society to which the registration file has been submitted.
Submitted Date: The date on which the registration file was submitted to the
society.
Status: The status of the registration at each society. Possible statuses include:
o Accepted: Society has confirmed acceptance of registration.
o Deemed Accepted: Registration has been submitted and is deemed
accepted by society unless otherwise notified.
o In Review: Society has requested additional information. Registration will be
reviewed and re-submitted.
o Not Applicable: Work is not controlled by this society. Registration does not
apply.
o Submitted: Registration has been submitted and is awaiting confirmation of
acceptance from society.
The default view of the Albums/Soundtracks page displays the following details:
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
User can filter the song list by song title using the filter field at the top of the page.
To view additional details, click on the arrow to the right to expand the song.
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
Album Title: The title of the album or soundtrack that the song has been recorded
on.
Artist: The artist associated to the recording of the song for this album or
soundtrack.
Label: The record label that owns or distributes the album or soundtrack.
Product Number: The record label’s product code associated to this album or
soundtrack.
Release Date: The date the album or soundtrack was released for sale or
distribution.
Alternate List – To view the Alternate List page, click on the ‘Alternate List’ slider.
The default view of the Albums/Soundtracks page displays the following details:
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
User can search and filter the song list by song title or alternate title using the filter fields at
the top of the page.
To view additional details, click on the arrow to the right to expand the song.
Song No: Sony Music Publishing LLC’s unique identifier for the Song.
Song Title: Title of the work income was processed to.
Alternative Title: An alternate title associated to the work such as an alternate
spelling or a translation.
Language: The language of the alternate title.
Country: The countries in which the alternate title is being used if the title is
specific to only certain countries.
2.5 Analytics
The Analytics tab provides detailed chart analysis of earnings for the selected client/payee
account based on your Time Period selection. For each chart, you can select the number of
results you want displayed, anywhere from the top 5 to the top 25, using the Top Results
drop down at the top of the page.
To view the Top Income Types, click on ‘Top Income Types’ at the top of the Analytics tab.
Top Songs – The Top Songs graph shows the highest earning songs and their amounts for
the selected client/payee in the selected time period.
To view the Top Songs, click on ‘Top Songs’ at the top of the Analytics tab.
To view the Top Sources, click on ‘Top Sources’ at the top of the Analytics tab.
Top Territories – The Top Territories map shows the highest earning territories and their
amounts for the selected client/payee in the selected time period.
To view the Top Territories, click on ‘Top Territories’ at the top of the Analytics tab.
You can also view all four graphs for Top Income Types, Top Songs, Top Sources, and Top
Territories side by side by clicking on ‘See All’ at the top right of the Analytics tab.
To download your complete statements in PDF, Excel of TXT formats, click on the
Downloads icon on the left side of the screen.
For our Studio clients, the format is different due to the reporting structure. Studio Clients
will see options similar to those shown below when clicking the Download Statements icon:
If you are entitled to view royalty information for multiple client/payee accounts, you will
receive SCORE registration letters containing activation codes for each combination.
To link additional client/payee accounts to your User ID, click on the profile menu and then
select ‘Add Activation Code’.
Then fill out the form with the details for the additional client/payee and click ‘Submit’ (one
set at a time):
Please allow 24 to 48 hours for additional client/payee accounts to appear on your User ID.
From here, select a territory from the filter on the top right of the screen and then choose
what type of form/information you would like to view or download by clicking on the
corresponding tab at the top of the screen.
6. Change Email
If you need to change the email address linked to you SCORE User ID (this is the address
Sony Music Publishing LLC will use for statement notifications as well as password resets),
click on the profile menu and then select ‘Change Email’.
7. Logging Out
To log off SCORE, click on the profile menu and then select ‘Logout’. You will be returned
to the Log In page.
