THE SUNDAY OF THE FULFILLMENT The Last Sunday of the Church Year
PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
Dearest Lord Jesus, You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End and all things are subjected to You even as You are the source of all things. I rejoice that You have destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light. Grant that I remain faithful until death and receive the crown of life, even as You have risen from the dead and You live and reign to all eternity. In Your name I pray. Amen

WELCOME
Welcome to Grace! In our Introit we find these words from St. Peter, In keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. As we gather this morning for this Last Sunday of the Church Year we do so knowing that the Lord has gone ahead of us to prepare a place for us and that, according to His promise, He will come back to take us to be with Him forever. Indeed He makes all things new. We are glad you are here today! If you are visiting with us we especially welcome you and we pray that your faith will be nurtured through Gods Word. If you have any questions about how you might become a communicant member of Grace, we encourage you to speak with our Pastor. We ask that everyone fill out an attendance card found at each pew and return it to an usher during the Offering. Children are welcome in our Service and we encourage their participation. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.

HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 10:45 Service today. In this sacrament we receive Christs very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace are asked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might be established. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHER
The Last Sunday of the Church Year looks to the promise of eternal life; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting is how we confess that truth in the Apostles Creed. But while the fulfillment and the reality of heaven are still in the future, the Word of God wants us to know and to take comfort in the fact that Jesus, our King, is already ruling the universe. Though the darkness of sin and fear of death continues to lurk and to tempt, Jesus continues to be the Light of the world, the Light no darkness can overcome. The last word is that we do not fear because God has rescued and transferred us to the saving and loving reign of His Son Jesus.

NEXT WEEKS READINGS - The appointed readings for next Sunday, November 27th, the First Sunday in Advent, are: The Old Testament Reading: Isaiah 64:1-9, The Epistle Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:3-9, and The Gospel Reading: Mark 11:1-10.

Pre-Service Music Lighting of the Chancel Candles Prelude Ringing of the Church Bell Opening Hymn: Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones LSB 670

we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen

Absolution

[John 20:1923]

P Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen

Confession and Absolution

Stand The sign of the cross may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.

P In keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, C the home of righteousness. P O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; C let me know how fleeting I am!
Matthew 28:19b; [18:20]

Invocation

P Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, C and my lifetime is as nothing before you. P And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? C My hope is in you.

P In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen

Exhortation

1 John 1:89

P Deliver me from all my transgressions. C Do not make me the scorn of the fool! P Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! C For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers. C Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen P In keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, C the home of righteousness.

P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination.

Confession of Sins
P Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. C Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what

The reading of the Holy Gospel. P This is the Gospel of the Lord.

He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life T of the world to come. Amen

Prayer of the Church

P Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs. Each petition ends with the following:

Nicene Creed
C I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.

P Lord, in Your mercy, C hear our prayer. The prayers conclude with the following: P Into Your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy; through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. C Amen

Psalm 116:12-13, 17-19

Proper Preface
P It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who, out of love for His fallen creation, humbled Himself by taking on the form of a servant, becoming obedient unto death, even death upon a cross. Risen from the dead, He has freed us from eternal death and given us life everlasting. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying:

Lord's Prayer
C Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

Matthew 6:913

Prayer of Thanksgiving
P Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we beg You, O Lord, to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit. Grant us faithfully to eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us do in His own testament. Gather us together, we pray, from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C Amen

P Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is My T body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My T blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.
