A C K N O W L E D G E M E N T

It was my pleasure to work in S.P Architects & Engineers Pvt. Ltd. as a

trainee architect under the direct supervision of firm senior associates.
This very internship is an achievement for me and it would have been im-
possible without the support and teaching method of our directors Ar.
Yam Prasad Rai & managing director Ar. Shiv Nandan Pandit. The journey
of my internship won’t be as smooth and successful without their help, as-
sistance, guidance and endless support.

Besides this, i would like to thank everyone at S.P ARCHITECTS & ENGI-
NEERS, especially to those who have sharing as much knowledge, experi-
ence, exposure, technique, as they possibly could throughout my internship
period. Under the guidance and supervision of Alson Sirjee & Sudip Sirjee,
they have helped me to improve my working and skills in professional field
so much a big thanks to them as well.

Last but not least, i would like to express my deepest thanks to AR. DURGA
RAJ AVENG (practicum supervisor) & practicum co-ordinator AR.DIPRN-
DRA SUBBA for providing useful decision, feedbacks, advices, & guidance
throughout my entire work period till now.

of my internship period in S.P ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS PVT. LTD. till now.
The aim of the practicum is to make us students ready for the profes-

plication. Every knowing and unknowing was learning and opportunity be-
cause we were somehow allow to commit faults and get them corrected.

I got to observe the aura of head architect as well as every sin-

gle architects and engineers involved there for efficiency. This some-
how lead me to see how works is tackled in the professional field

These 90 days working periods filled me with the confidence , skills &

WHY SP ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS ?

S.P ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS is an independent firm of designers,

architects, planners, surveyor’s, engineers, environmental specialists
and technical specialist’s offering broad range of professional services.

When i was looking for an architectural firm for my internship program, i had
kept a clear mindset that i have to work in a firm which works on multiple type
of projects. After lots of struggle & research i found a firm with the help and
guidance of Ar. Shashi Kumar Mandal sir who also plays great role for con-
vincing me to go in such a beautiful working environment firm, i am looking for.

The working environment is simply awesome. It makes me feel like there is no hi-
erarchy among seniors & juniors. Thus, it helps to put on confidence, skills and
guides each members as their family which i adore the most about this office.

Being a small firm, it can overlook every work that an architect or an intern
is doing, which means one can easily get guidance & supervision from senior
architect directly.

Subtraction is done to break the monoto-

We don’t have to think to much about deco-

fines the functionality .

Plan itself speaks as we show through this

sketch as just by placing windows & doors as

ZONING AND PLAN DEVELOPMENT

First of all as knowing the site we find that there is west and north side
access to road and the north side road is end of the road. So avoiding
the junction zoning is done considering the busyness of the traffic.

Fixing the kitchen as per the vastu then others space is arranged ac-
cordingly and comfortability for the occupants.

Site is elevated up to el. 1393 M so as per geological analysis, geologist recom-
mended us to cut the steep slope at el. 1350 Land up to 45m to 50m to make
the land flat. Site slope goes downward to north and south direction from the
elevated portion similarly it goes downward in east and west direction as well.
There is a godawari khola in the north-west direction and roadways in the east
direction.

FIG : TOPOGRAPHY OF THE SITE

While developing conceptual master plan, we keep in mind that site must be min-
imum intervention so that cost will not be higher for land development works.
Other big challenge that there must be facility all modern requirements of in-

PLANNING CONCEPT
Developing a master plan of industrial village, there is big challenge because of
the land structure and sloppy nature. Considering the length of site the whole
masterplan is designed, approaching the lengthwise horizontal axis then block
are placed analysing the matrix zoning requires for the industrial village. As
road is available in east direction adjacent to site so to create welcoming envi-
ronment and buffer green pocket is designed along with health post and admin.
It is keeping very near to road for fast servicing. Planning of central road is
designed of 8m for quick follow without disturbing to each other. Planning of
other utilities like canteen, rest room and treatment plant area are designed
in inner core area of the site which is also nearby for the all personnel. Ramp
access is provided to each and every block over there for the differently abled
person. Practicum Report | 51

After cutting the land there is need of

GYANI PATHSHALA
Project Name: Gyani Pathshala, School
Location: Tikapur, Kailali, Nepal
Terrain Type: Plain Land
Land Area: 1-2-0-1 Dam
12
It is one of the educational institution project founded by the christian
community from the usa. This project is done under the collaboration with
the usa.
The form of the building is planned following the site reference. As we can
also that there is old style & modern style is fused while designing it’s 3d.

Practicum Report | 55
This the new 3d which is modified by the usa architects creating whole changes
in the facade of the building & the roofs style aswell.

This 3d looks asewome which defines the functionality of space as well.As roofs
is sloped so that solar panel is used in proper way. Facade is treated with well
ventilated part than the previous 3d design. This little things makes big differ-
ence project.
After changing the roofs style it effects the whole top floor plan.So considering
it’s itis replanned.

While discussion with the usa architects, in this part as roofs leads to down-
wards how it effects the planning. It is cleared after cutting the section it
clears that for planning of the space clear height plays great role so avoid that
area or used as the small storage room.
Practicum Report | 56
As 3d is changed it’s also effects in the circulation pattern so we can cleary
see that staircase shape is changed as per the 3d & little bit interior planning
aswell.

Practicum Report | 57
As comparising the top floor plan we will find that so much space is wasted due
to sloped roofs in one due to less clear height. It’s the space for the quarters
which is little bit more spaceous than the previous planning aswell which is the
plus point.

Frank lioyd wright believed “the good building is
not one that hurts the landscape, but is one that
makes the landscape more beautiful than it was
before that building was built.” This idea was vital
for the sake of creating architecture that has a
spiritual connection to earth

CARDINALS POINTS AS SPIRITUAL COORDINATION

Architecturally, this idea can inspire the arrangement of spaces to create the de-
velopmental journey individuals will go through during their healing process.

NATURE AS INSPIRATION FOR SPACE AND FORM
In order to truly connect architecture to earth, the
building has to nourish the ground it occupies. The
purpose of the building should not only be to fit the
needs of the intended program, but to nurture the
earth it occupies and nuture the occupants it hoilds.
Also spiritual healing is a journey,
transiting from step to step in a
recovery program could be archi-
tecturally interpreted as moving
from room to room, activity to
activity and mood to mood.
NATURAL MATERIALS
Indeed, using natural materials have a spiritual benefit, but an ecological one as well. If a
building is harmonious with nature, it also benefits the environment. By creating self –
sufficient buildings, series of “eco-cycle houses,”or argriculture systems, architecture
can work with nature in harmony.

CONLUSION
As by including different positive energies within the built environment, a hub is created
that human beings can use to spiritually connect their soul to the universe – a place
that allows the release of the conscious world and submersion of the unconscious
world. By creating a mystical trinity between human soul, built environment, and divine
power, a united bond will be formed so that those suffering with addictions will have all
they need for their spiritual journey to recovery.
