    ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

    Some observations to consider when picking out your art supplies.

    • About watercolor paper: You’ll nd a very wide array of watercolor papers from which
    to choose from. Papers with a little texture might help out in the context of
    representing textured or patterned skin. Too much texture in paper may, on the other
    hand, may interfere with the accuracy of your details. (One watercolor paper I really
    like is made by SMLT. Besides its thickness and texture, I love that they are an
    environmentally responsible brand
    • Color names may vary from brand to brand, so look for equivalents. Also, be mindful
    about lightfastness when you make your choice. (If you are a beginner, I recommend
    Van Gogh or Cotmann watercolors. If you are ready for purchasing pro colors, my
    favorites are Schmincke
    • Last, but not least: Expensive supplies won’t make you a better artist. The quality of
    what you buy matters, but understanding the difference between brands and art
    supplies requieres a sensibility you will only develop through practice. Many good
    quality brands have a pro line and a student line. Both of them will work perfectly. Just
    make sure to stay away from very basic, supermarket like art supplies.
