PART ONE: Reading (15pts)

Islam has created a nation which is free from cruelty and injustice more than any other nation that has existed
before. Islam means a religion of peace which calls for forgiveness versus hatered, toelerance versus violence and
equality against racism. It emphasizes that every human being is worthy of respect and people have to respect each
other despite the differences in religion and culture.

Islam teaches Muslims that peace can be achieved through tolerance, mercy, and respect to others. Furthermore,
good actions and deeds bring happiness and relief to people. For instance, the prophet MUHAMMAD ; (peace be
upon him) signed treaties of peace with the Jews ﴾Non-Muslims ﴿and the Infidels despite their mistreatment. He
said: “The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth , and the one in
the heavens will have mercy upon youˮ

According to Islam, all men and women are brothers and sisters .And all are creatures of one and the same
God. In this regard, the Quran says: “The believers are brothers to each other”. And ˮwhen they are angered , they
forgive ˮ.
