    Central HVAC System ASAP
    Main parts of a Central HVAC system commonly found in Hotels in India:
    1) Air Handling Units (AHUs): AHUs are responsible for circulating and
    conditioning air.
    a) They typically include components such as fans,
    b) Heating or cooling coils,
    c) Filters - Air filters are installed in the AHUs to capture dust, particles, and
    allergens
    d) Dampers- Adjustable plates or valves within the ductwork that regulate the
    flow of air.
    e) Exhaust and Ventilation- Mixing of fresh air as required for maintaining
    indoor air quality.
    The AHU conditions the air and then distributes it to different areas of the hotel
    through a system of ducts.
    2) Ductwork: Ductwork is a network of pipes or channels that transport
    conditioned air from the AHUs to various spaces within the hotel, such as guest
    rooms, common areas, and meeting rooms. Well-designed ductwork ensures
    efficient air distribution.
    3) VAV Boxes (Variable Air Volume): VAV boxes are devices installed in the
    ductwork that regulate the volume of air supplied to individual zones or rooms.
    They help optimize energy usage by adjusting airflow based on the specific
    cooling or heating needs of each area.

    4) Chillers - Chillers are central components of the HVAC system responsible


    for cooling the water used in the air conditioning process.

    5) Boilers - Boilers provide hot water or steam for heating purposes in the
    HVAC system. In hotels, they may be used for space heating, hot water
    supply, and other applications.

    6) Cooling Towers - Cooling towers work in conjunction with chillers to


    dissipate heat from the building. They transfer heat from the chilled water to
    the atmosphere, allowing the water to return to the chillers at a lower
    temperature.

    7) Pumps - Pumps are used to circulate water through the HVAC system.
    They play a crucial role in moving chilled or hot water from the chillers and
    boilers to the air handling units and other components.

    8) Thermostats and Sensors- Thermostats and sensors are crucial for


    monitoring and controlling the temperature in various zones. Occupancy
    sensors can also be integrated to optimize energy use based on room
    occupancy.

    9) Controls and Building Automation System (BAS) - Controls and a


    Building Automation System (BAS) provide centralized management and
    monitoring of the HVAC system. They enable operators to set temperature
    parameters, schedule operations, and respond to changing conditions in real-
    time.
    10) Boilers - Boilers provide hot water or steam for heating purposes in the
    HVAC system. In hotels, they may be used for space heating, hot water
    supply, and other applications.
    11) Humidification/Dehumidification Systems - In humid climates, hotels
    may incorporate systems to control indoor humidity levels. This can include
    humidifiers or dehumidifiers depending on the specific needs.
    HVAC systems before the air-handling unit for even moisture distribution.
    Dehumidifiers are typically installed downstream to remove excess moisture,
    often in the return air duct or return plenum.

    • The central plant generally, be placed on grade in an independent utility


    services block, which also houses most of the other high-side equipment like
    HT panel, transformers, DG sets, main LT panel, water storage tanks, water
    treatment plants, water supply pumps, fire water storage tanks, fire pumps
    and others.
    • The specific design and components of a Central HVAC system for hotels in
    India may vary based on factors such as the hotel's size, layout, climate
    zone, and budget constraints.
