when we use verb as a noun we use a/an before it.
Rule 95
Generally we don’t use a/an before any uncountable
noun. Like advice, furniture, baggage, luggage,
news, wine etc.

“The” is used before noun that was discussed
before.

We don’t use articles before disease but exceptions

We use ‘the’ before unique things.
As. The world, The universe etc. but we don’t use ‘the’
before Heaven, Hell, God, Parliament.
Rule 99
We don’t use ‘the’ before space until it is used as a
place.
Rule 100
We use ‘the’ before directions like “the east” , “the
west” etc. but we don’t use “the” when place is added
with directions. As- West Bengal, western India and
also with northern, western etc.
Rule 101
Few – Ankit have few friends. (It implies that I don’t have
a lot of friends and I am probably lonely. Also, note it may
also exhibit a negative sentiment or meaning in some
cases.)
Rule 102
(A) little and (a) few are quantifiers meaning ‘some’. Little
and few have negative meanings. We use them to mean
‘not as much as may be expected or wished for’.

We use ‘one’ with another/other but not ‘a’
Ex. A student wants to study, another wants to
play. (wrong)

We use ‘among’ before consonant sound and
‘amongst’ before vowel sound.

We use ‘amid’ and ‘amidst’ same as ‘among’ and
‘amongst’ but for uncountable nouns.

we use ‘in’ in sense of अंदर but ‘into’ in sense of
अंदर but in motion

We use ‘in’ with ‘morning/evening’ but if ‘date/day’
is with ‘morning/evening’ we use “on”.

We generally don’t use preposition ‘to’ before home
but in case of possessive case (as: my, your, his etc)
we use ‘to’ before home.
Rule 110
Very is used before present participle (ex: very interesting,
very daring etc.) and much is used before past participle
(ex: much surprised, much admired etc.) but in some case
we also use “very” in past participle
ex: very tired, very pleased, very limited etc.
Rule 111
‘Yet’ is used in negative sense of present perfect
not for past tense.
Rule 112
When the percentage or a part of something
is mentioned with plural meaning the plural
verb is used.
Ex.-30 % of Indian women are literate.
Three-quarters of the food has been eaten.
(Here the reference is to the food as a whole)

Rule 113
People are often confused or they commit mistakes in the use of
certain nouns.
Rule 114
While using ‘everybody’ ‘everyone’, ‘anybody’, and ‘each’ the
pronoun of the masculine or the feminine gender is used according
to the context.
I shall be happy to help each of the boys in this practice.
But when the sex is not mentioned, we use the pronoun of the
masculine gender.
Anyone can qualify this exam if he tries.
Each of the six boys in the class has finished their tasks. (Incorrect)
Each of the six boys in the class has finished his task. (Correct)

Rule 115
If pronouns of different persons are to be used together in a sentence,
the serial order of persons should be as follows;
second person (2) + third (3)+ first person(1) in normal sentences. But
when mistake or fault is expressed in the sentence,
the order should be; first person (1) + second person (2) + third person
(3). RULE-231
You, he and I have finished the work. (Normal idea)
I, you and he are to blame. (here Confession of guilt is expressed, it’s a
negative idea, hence order is 123)

Rule 116
‘Some’ is used in affirmative sentences to express quantity
or degree.
‘Any’ is uses in negative or interrogative sentences.
Rule 117
Use of elder, older.
‘Elder’ is used for persons of same family.
‘Older’ refers to persons as well as things and is followed
by ‘than’.
Rule 118
In some cases, the comparison is subtle and must be given proper attention.
Rule 119
If the subject is ‘the number of’ the singular verb is used. And when
the expression (‘a + number+ of) is used, plural verb is used.
Rule 120
When two or more singular nouns joined by ‘AND’ are
preceded by ‘EACH’ and ‘EVERY’ the pronoun must be
singular.
Ex.- Every student and every teacher took his or her seat.
Each of Ram and Shyam has done his work.
Each man and each boy in the party has got his share.
