This manual describes the Software Self Service, which manages data regarding fuel distribution from a maximum of 16 Self Service stations connected by an RS85 network (also a mixed network with both FM or MC models) or with electronic keys (FM version only). Before using Software Self Service please read the manual FMMCFP Management System Software, which describes the technical features and functions of the station in detail. This software allows the user to register each fuel delivery by the new Self Service station on the computer, with obvious advantages in terms of company management. The transfer of data from the Self Service stations can happen in two ways: 1. by RS-85 network 2. by electronic key (Master Key) which comes with the Self Service station FM. In the first mode the computer periodically checks the stations connected to the RS485 network which reply by sending the data on fuel delivery which is stored but not yet sent. Where it is not possible to put in cables, it is possible to download the fuel delivery data using the Master Key, to be used as a carrier between the station and the computer. The Master Key has a memory which must be transferred to a computer to be elaborated. The procedures described in this manual, show the user how to install, configure and use the software.

2.1 HARDWARE INSTALLATION: CONNECTION DIAGRAMS
Downloading the data regarding fuel delivery stored in the stations, can happen in two ways: 1. By cable with serial protocol RS-85 2. By Electronic Key

1. In the first case the connection diagram is the classic parallel with two wires like any RS85 line which allows connections up to 1200 meters (with twisted pair wires) (see diagrams 1A and 1B). Shielding is not generally necessary. If, however, the cable does have it, it should be connected to the ground wire present in the electrical box of the Self Service station. This solution offers the advantage of sending data to the PC shortly after the deliveries have stopped, but it requires a cable to be placed between stations and PC. 2. If the USB kit is available, connect the Key Reader to a free USB port. If the RS232 kit is available, connect the Key Reader to a free RS232 serial port.

UK 2.2 Software Installation

The Software Self Service is provided on CD-ROM and can be installed on any PC with Windows 98/Me/2000/NT/XP. If a USB Kit is available, the software can be used after installing the USB Key Reader driver. If a RS232 Kit is available, the software can be installed directly. Installation of USB Key Reader driver: - Insert the CD in the PC drive. - The window shown in the following picture appears automatically. - To install the driver, click where indicated.

DRIVER INSTALLATION

The following is displayed: - Click on Open and follow the instructions that are displayed. - During installation it is advisable to leave all settings as pre-set.

Installation of Software Self Service: To install the Software Self Service carry out the same operations as described in paragraph Installation of USB Key Reader driver. The window shown in the following picture appears only in case of software reinstallation or upgrading. It offers two options: a new installation (Standard Installation) which RESETS the system completely, or software Upgrade which keeps all previous stored data. Should a new installation be selected, all data concerning previous deliveries and downloaded to the PC will be lost.

Upon successful installation, a SelfService folder is created in the Programs folder, accessible from the Start menu of Windows. Clicking on this folder the following dropdown menu appears: - SelfService - Self Service System - Self Service Communication Process

Upon successful installation, a SelfService folder is created in the Programs folder, accessible from the Start menu of Windows. Clicking on this folder the following dropdown menu appears: - SelfService - Self Service System - Self Service Communication Process In detail: Self Service System The installer and manager interact with the system through this program both for configuration (during installation) and everyday data collection and processing activities. The program uses Windows tools (windows, menus, buttons) to make it easy to learn and manage the system. Self Service Communication Process This program manages communication between the computer and the stations installed on the network: it can be accessed by the user, only to see the messages of operations between the computer and Self Service.

From the Windows Start menu click on: Programs SelfService SelfService System.

OPENING THE APPLICATION

That the program has been opened is highlighted by the Self Service System Program dialog box which appears and the taskbar which shows a SelfComm icon.

This icon must always be present on the taskbar; if it is not present the application Self Service Management will continue functioning but all communication between the computer and the stations is interrupted.

By clicking on the SelfComm icon, in the taskbar, a window which is divided in two parts is opened: 1. In the upper box is a list of delivery data which arrives at the computer through two possible sources: - From the Self Service stations (in case of RS85 network) - From the Key Reader (in case of Master Key reading only with FM version)

In the lower is a list of various types of messages: - A list of the operations done by the computer (ex. Start New Communication, Erasing Key, Saving Data etc.) - Messages regarding recognizing the Key Reader (ex. MicroLan Setup Failed etc.) - Messages regarding recognizing the key (ex. Device Memory, etc.) - Messages regarding the status of the keys (ex. Memory Empty, etc. )

Access to this page is generally useful only during Self Service station installation or when there is a communication problem between the stations and computer. In the case of the Key Reader (FM version) this window is opened automatically to be able to check the correct downloading of data through the messages on the screen (see par..6). The SelfComm page, should be closed only by using ( HIDE ); this way the program continues to work in the background thereby guaranteeing information exchange. Even when the Self Service Management application is closed, SelfComm continues to work guaranteeing data collection regarding fuel delivery and transferal to the hard disk; the next time that the Self Service Management application is opened all data sent from the stations will be immediately available. SelfComm continues working even while the computer is being used for other applications. To always guarantee communication between computer and stations (or Key Reader), the general password is necessary to close the program. The SelfComm program is closed automatically only when the computer itself is closed (exit from Windows).

CHOICE OF LANGUAGE

This activity allows you to choose the language to be used in the application starting from a list of languages offered. The default language from the moment of sale is English. Procedure: Open the Configuration menu - Select Modify Language - Type in System Password - Choose the desired language among those available Click on Confirm: the application will be closed momentarily and then reopened in the new language

4.2

MODIFY SYSTEM PASSWORD (OPTIONAL)

The Software Self Service is provided with a System Password made up of a number with a maximum of  digits. NOTE1: The System Password at the first installation is, by default, 1234. NOTE2: The System Password is in no way related to the MASTER PIN CODE of the service station The password allows access to all protected activities. By default most of the activities are protected by the Password. These activities are shown by a checkmark () next to the activities in the menus. The only menu which the Manager can choose whether to leave with or without password is Management See/Print Delivery Data (see .3) If you want to modify the Password use the following procedure: Procedure: Open the Configuration menu - Select Modify System Password - Type in the default password 123 Click on Confirm - Type in the new password Confirm by typing the same number again Click on Confirm: the message Password modified will appear on the screen - Click on OK to return to main menu ATTENTION: write down the password in a safe place; without it, it is impossible to access the protected functions.

UK 4.3 ACTIVATION OF THE REQUEST FOR ACCESS PASSWORD FOR THE MENU MANAGEMENT/ SEE/PRINT SUPPLIES (OPTIONAL)
The system allows the Manager to protect access to the management of data received from the stations with a password. This option is activated through the following procedure: Open the Configuration menu Select Password configuration - Type in the password - Check the Management box Click on Confirm

SYSTEM PRINTER CONFIGURATION FOR PRINTING DATA

The printer used by the software to print the reports is the one preset by Windows. It is possible to modify this by accessing the Windows default printer configuration program from this menu. ATTENTION: Modifying the default printer affects all the applications connected to Windows and not just the software Self Service Management. Procedure: Open the Configuration menu Select System printer configuration - Type in the password - Choose the printer to be used through the window opened by the Software Self Service

UK 4.5 CHOICE OF COMMUNICATION PORT BETWEEN COMPUTER AND STATIONS AND BETWEEN COMPUTER AND KEY READER
For the computer to communicate with the stations connected to the RS485 network and the Key Reader it is necessary to define the ports (COM) used and what stations they are associated with. The software automatically recognizes which are the available COM and the choice is made through a dropdown menu. ATTENTION: it is not possible to use one port for both the network and the key reader. If you try this operation an error message appears. Procedure: Open the Configuration menu - Select Serial port selection - Type in the password The following screen appears: - Choose the ports for software communication - with the stations via RS85 (see Attention) and - with the Key Reader ATTENTION: If the connection with the computer is through the USB CONVERTER PW 14 it could be necessary to find the COM port joined to the PW14 using the following procedure at paragraph 4.5.1. Click on Confirm. The system checks the availability of the ports and a communication message appears.

PROCEDURE TO FIND THE COM PORT JOINED TO THE USB CONVERTER PW14

ATTENTION: Should it be necessary to detach the USB connection from the PC after connecting the PW14 and identifying the COM port associated with the USB, have it restored by inserting the connector in the ORIGINAL USB PORT. Reinserting the connector in a different port generates a proliferation of VIRTUAL COM ports requiring a new search for the port actually connected. A Procedure for Windows XP 1. 4.6 INSERTION OF THE SERIAL NUMBERS OF THE STATIONS, CHOICE OF DATA DOWNLOADING MODE AND COMMUNICATION CHECK BETWEEN COMPUTER AND STATIONS
In this window it is possible to insert much of the information necessary to the functioning of the system. Each station, defined by serial number, must be associated with a Unit identified by a number in order from 1 to 16. It is also necessary to specify delivery data downloading mode for each station. At the end of the insertion it is possible to do a Communication Check between the computer and the stations connected through the RS 85 network. Procedure: Open the Configuration menu - - - Select System Configuration Type in the Password Insert the Serial Number (S/N) of the Stations in the spaces provided. To help the installer, remember that an easy way to see the Serial Number on the station is to press # + 9 in the phase called Access Control (see manual M0081 par. .7.3.1))

- - - By clicking on the Unit number next to the S/N, you complete the association of the S/N with the Unit. In the above example the station with the S/N 303019 will be associated with Unit 1 and the station with the S/N 303021 with Unit 2. After this you must choose the communication mode: whether by RS85 network or by Key Reader (Master Key). By clicking on the button under the S/N you alternate between the two modes RS85 / Key or Key Only. If you select Key Only the window immediately becomes green At the end of the insertion of configuration parameters you must do a communication check. The communication check is necessary only for the stations which are connected through the RS85 network. It is possible to test the connection of each station separately or all together. Click on Exit to return to main menu.

To check a single station click on Communication Check which is under the S/N, while to check all stations together click on Check All In case of a positive check the S/N box of the specific station will become GREEN In case of a negative check the S/N box of the specific station becomes RED ATTENTION: If a station has the Key Only setting the S/N box will become green by default If the check fails (RED box) do the following controls: Configuration of the station to the computer (PC CONNECTED=YES). Reference manual M0081 par 4.6.1 - Wire connections between computer and stations (see par 2.1 of this manual) - Driver installation - Selection of the communication ports (COM). Refer to paragraph .5 of this manual - Check that the communication ports (COM) are not already occupied by other software. - Correct S/N of the station inserted - SelfComm icon present - Station power NOTE: Returning to System Configuration, all S/N boxes, of the stations connected through the RS485 network, change to YELLOW ready for another check. The stations set as Key Only remain GREEN.

5.

DATA TRANSFER

After setting up the system and checking the communication, the computer can receive delivery information from two different sources: - From the RS-85 network the system starts automatically to download data from the Self Service stations. - From the Master Key. To download data from the Master Key follow this procedure: 1. 2. 3. Place the key in the Key Reader supplied and previously connected The SelfComm window opens automatically and in the upper part the delivery list should start running. At the end of the operation the message Operation Completed appears. Click on OK, the window is hidden.

In case the reading was not completed correctly, check some of the messages in the SelfComm window. Scroll the window List of operations using the Up/Down arrows until finding the messages similar to those circled in the picture. In the example notice that the key was not recognized because the S/N of the station which downloaded the data is not on the list of S/N set in the computer. In this example you can see how a Master Key was not recognized because the S/N of the station which downloaded the data (number 304005) is not on the list of stations configured (numbers 304006 and 304008). In this case it is necessary to make the corrections needed in the System Configuration window.

MANAGEMENT

This allows access to the activities tied to visualization and transfer of data collected from the Self Service stations regarding delivery.

6.1

VIS./PRINT SUPPLIES

This allows you to see on the screen and print personalized reports of the delivery data stored in the database. Personalization consists of the possibility to apply: - Filters ( shown as Limits ) on: - Date - Units - Operators - Registration Number - Up to two ordering criteria Checking the Total box, the report will contain the figures in order of the first criteria Procedure: - Open Management menu - Select Vis./Print supplies - Type, if required, the Password Choose the first ordering criteria (Date, Units, Operator, RegNum) Checking the Total box, the report will contain the figures in order of the first criteria - Choose, if desired, a second criteria Set the filters to apply to the Date, Units, Operators, Registration Number and indicate the limits of the filters - Click on Print to see, print or save on disk the delivery data chosen

6.2

ENABLE/ DISABLE AUTOMATIC PRINT

This allows you to activate and deactivate the automatic procedure immediately printing on paper and/or saving on file the data stored after delivery. Printing takes place with the Self Service Management open. 1. * * For printing on paper the system has different procedures depending on the type of printer used: If you are using a needle printer then you will need to indicate which of the two ports LPT1 or LPT2 is connected and a line will printed immediately after each delivery If you are using an InkJet or a Laser printer you must select Default Printer: - If the printer is an InkJet, it will print a line immediately after each delivery - If it is a Laser printer, it will print every time there is a full page of data. In exiting from Self Service Management, it will print automatically, even if there is not a full page of data.

If the Self Service Management is closed, but SelfComm stays open, new delivery data can be stored that cannot be printed immediately (because Self Service Management is closed). As soon as Self Service Management is reopened all delivery data stored while the application was closed is immediately printed.

In case of Print on File (or Log on File) the deliveries will be saved in a text file to be read with NotePad. The name and path must be typed in the specified box. The file which is created is of the type shown in the picture.

Procedure: - Open Management menu - Select Enable/ Disable Automatic Print - Type in the password - Select the various options. ATTENTION: Printing on paper and saving on file the delivery logs are independent and can coexist.

Type in the name and path of the file log. You must also type the file name extension .txt .

NOTE: If you do not type a path, but only a name the file will be saved in the folder C\:Programs\SelfService\Exe. Click on Confirm.

6.3

EMPTY PRINT QUEUE

This activity allows you to interrupt printing which has started but is not yet finished: - In the case of an InkJet printer which prints line by line on arrival of new data the sheet is expelled - In the case of a Laser printer the printing stops even if the page is not complete The procedure is as follows: - Open Management menu - Select Empty print queue The printout will be automatically ejected If the automatic printing is deactivated the activity Empty print queue cannot be selected from the Management menu.

PACKING

The Packing operation allows you to delete all information regarding deliveries before the date chosen by the user. ATTENTION: Data which has been deleted cannot be recovered.

Procedure: - Open the Database menu - Select Packing - Type in the password Define the date, all stored delivery information before this date which will be deleted Click on Confirm - Click on Yes when you see the message Cancel all deliveries before DAY/MON/YEAR? Wait for the Packing finished message - Click on OK to return to main menu

7.2

REBUILDING

Rebuilding allows you to recover databases only if they have been damaged (ex. In case of a blackout). ATTENTION: This uses a standard Microsoft Access tool, which cannot always guarantee full data recovery. If the damage is heavy sometimes the data is not recoverable.

Procedure: - Open the Database menu - Select Rebuilding - Type in the password - Select the option Yes or No - Click on OK to return to main menu

7.3

BACKUP

Saving allows you to create a backup copy of all data. In case of loss or damage to the main database, it can be recovered from the backup copy.

Procedure: - Open the Database menu - Select Backup - Type in the password - Choose the destination directory with Browse Click on Confirm - Click on Yes to save data - Click on OK to return to main menu

When you re-enter this screen, the system automatically shows the last name and path to overwrite. The user can decide whether to create new copies.

UK 7.4 RESTORE

Restore allows you to recover information from the backup copy in case of damage to the main database, if the main database is not usable even after Rebuilding. ATTENTION: Restore overwrites the present databases, with consequent loss of data stored from the last backup copy. Therefore this activity should be carried out prudently. Procedure - Open the Database menu - Select Restore - Type in the password - Choose the directory containing the last backup copy. Click on Confirm - Click on Yes to recover data - Click on OK to return to main menu

Procedure: - Click on ? - Click on Self Service Information. - A screen similar to the following will appear: Click on Confirm to exit

?INFORMATION ON RELEASE

This activity allows you to have information on the version of the software being used.

EXIT

It allows you to close the Self Service Management application: all data is stored correctly by SelfComm which continues to receive messages from the various stations connected to the computer and it is available on the See/Print screen as soon as the Self Service Management application is reopened. To close SelfComm as well, double click on the SelfComm icon to bring to the foreground and then click on Exit, type in the password and confirm the exit by clicking on Yes.

UNINSTALL SOFTWARE

This procedure must be followed to correctly uninstall the software Self Service Management: - - - - - - Close the Self Service Management application by clicking on exit Close the SelfComm application by right clicking on the icon next to the computer clock Choose EXIT Type in the password Enter the Start menu Settings Control Panel Add/ Remove Programs Choose the Self Service Management System application Click on Change/Remove (Windows2000) or Add/Remove (Win95/Win98/WinME)

The following windows will appear:

In the above window choose Yes. The screen asking you if you want to uninstall shared files which are no longer used.

To avoid any malfunctions caused by uninstalling, choose No to All .

Clicking on Details will show the following window which shows which folders cannot be deleted automatically and must be deleted manually, if you want to completely uninstall the software Self Service Management.
