We humbly ask for Your forgiveness for failing to follow the truth in Your Word sometimes. Thank You for keeping
Your promise through Jesus. Help us with Your Holy Spirit to live righteously and have the strength to respond in
godliness at all times. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

L.E.A.D AND SHARE THE GOSPEL TO YOUR KIDS

STEP
1 LOOK UP AND READ THE SCRIPTURE PASSAGE
BACKGROUND OF THE STORY
Read 1 Peter 3:8 to 4:19 out loud to your child/children.
The Bible lesson this week tells us how Christians can keep on going even when suffering. People suffer for
many reasons. We suffer because we live in a fallen world where sin still exists.1 We suffer because of our own
mistakes or consequences of our bad actions. And sometimes we may suffer because of our faith.1

The people in the book of 1 Peter were experiencing persecution because of their faith in Jesus and for doing
good. The previous chapters tell us that Peter assured the Christians that their future is secured in eternity with
God. He also told them that God’s holy people are set apart for His specific purposes. 2 And because of the
living hope we have in Jesus, Christians can live a holy life, obey God, and do God’s work even when suffering.
We continue to do good so that even those who accuse us of wrongdoing will be embarrassed. 2 As followers of
Jesus, the Bible tells us that we can rejoice when we run into problems and trials. The sufferings help us
develop endurance which develops character and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation
(Romans 5:3-4 NLT).

Our lesson on 1 Peter 3 to 4 will help us dig deeper on how we should respond when we suffer for doing good
and for being Christians. Let’s continue to learn how to LIVE IN HOPE and how we can keep on going even when
the going gets tough.

STEP
5 SHARE THE “GOOD NEWS” TO YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN.

THE GOOD NEWS IN CONNECTION TO THE BIBLE LESSON:

When we experience suffering, let’s always remember that Jesus suffered on the cross to pay for the penalty of
our sins. Romans 6:23 tells us that the payment for sin is death. This is spiritual death means being separated
from God forever. And that place will give endless pain and suffering. But because of God’s love for us, He doesn’t
want us to be separated from Him. He sent Jesus Christ to take our place in paying for our sins (John 3:16).

Placing our full hope and trust in Jesus means believing that Jesus alone can save us. We receive Him as our
Lord and Savior. Do you want to place your hope in Jesus? You may do so in a simple prayer expressing your
desire to trust Jesus with your life and obeying Him.

When you become a Christian, you may experience suffering. Sometimes, people may treat you badly when they
find out that you believe in Jesus and the Bible. Sometimes, people will make fun of you because you obey God.
Don’t worry because this kind of suffering on earth is only temporary. We can look forward to God’s wonderful
plan for us. We can praise God for He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead. As Christians, we are living by the power of the Holy Spirit that God gave us, and we can
overcome these sufferings.
