INTRODUCTION:
A fun and competitive approach for kids to develop their physical abilities, collaborate as a
team, and meet new people is through intramural sports. Sports like sepak takraw, basketball, and
volleyball are great methods to demonstrate one's athletic prowess, maintain physical fitness, and hone
one's personal skills. Intramural sports inspire students to pursue a sustainable lifestyle and embody the
core values of sportsmanship, integrity, and reliability. It gives pupils a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
that enhances their academic endeavors and is a fantastic method to foster a feeling of school spirit and
community.
In line with this, the Daraga Community College launched its Intramurals 2023 starting from
November 14-18, 2023, with the theme, “Building and Sustaining the Spirit of Hope, Sportsmanship,
Unity, and Teamwork through Excellence in Sports.” The said event was spearheaded by the Physical
Education Club together Federated Organization officers for each year level.
ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
Before the successful event, the Sophomore Federated Organization had a brief discussion of
the flow of intramurals, particularly with the selection of official players of the sophomores,
representatives for the pageant, MUSDA representatives, venues that will be used for trainings or
practices of representatives, documents needed, and funds for budgeting and purchasing throughout the
intramurals.
On November 1-3, 2023, led by the President and Vice-President of the organization, they
assigned works in each officer, specifically, their job is to facilitate sport tryouts and competition and
MUSDA competition. The Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the said organization prepared Google
forms for each sport (basketball, volleyball, darts, table tennis, sepak takraw, badminton, scrabble,
chess, arnis, and taekwondo) for pre-registration of the players. After the pre-registration, it was
ordered by the President to make a group chat for each sport that is facilitated and monitored by the
officers. Subsequently, the Secretary briefly discussed in the GCs the eligibility for tryouts. Eligibility
for sports tryouts and competition are as follows: (1) Must be a sophomore student of Daraga
Community College; (2) Must present a school ID or any valid ID for identification and verification
and/or (3) Must bring their COR for verification if the players are indeed a 2nd Year student.
November 4, 2023 (Sunday), the day of tryouts, at 7:00 AM, the players for each sport were
gathered around the DComC grounds and was briefly oriented about the flow of selection of players
and the flow of tryouts led by the President– Jan Ralph S. Rabanillo. Before the tryouts officially
started, the Secretary provided an official list of players who pre-registered and are the only eligible to
play for the tryouts. It was signed by them for attendance and verification and was used as a reference
for bracketing of players throughout the tryouts. Basketball tryouts were facilitated by Angel Marie
Persia (Organization Treasurer) and Stephen Mendez (Organization Vice-President). Volleyball tryouts
was facilitated by Niña Angela Excija (Organization P.R.O). Table Tennis tryouts and Mass Demo
were facilitated by Michelle M. Paliza (Organization Muse), Oliver Olin Olango (Organization Escort),
and Justin Figueras (Organization Bus. Manager). Chess tryouts was facilitated by Christel Ann

facilitated by Charles Antonio Lopos (Organization Peace Officer) and Stephanie Almirol
(Organization BSED Rep.). Darts tryouts was facilitated by Wealyn Orpiada (Organization Bus.
Manager). Badminton tryouts were facilitated by Jasmine Nicole V. Mirabete (Organization Peace
Officer) and Jeffrey Badillo (Organization Bus. Manager). For arnis, taekwondo, folkdance, dance
sport, cheer dance, and singing pop solo, Aldrich Pila (Organization BPED Rep.), John Paul Solis
(Organization Bus. Manager), and Catherine Joy Danque (Organization Peace Officer) facilitated these
activities.
At the very same day, November 4, 2023, the official Sophomore players for the sports
competition were announced. Afterwards, the organization officers discussed about the MUSDA
competition. Jason Gomez and Hernan Dineros– hired choreographer and facilitator for cheer dance
and Mass Demo; Steven Perez from BEED 27 was the choreographer for Hip-Hop; Dave Russel
Erwaso– choreographer for interpretative dance, informed the officers of the said organization about
the estimated expenses for costume, props and the payment for choreographers. In connection to the
budget, the Sophomore Federated Organization asked for donations from all 2 nd Year students of
Daraga Community College. The donations of the students were given to their block presidents and
remitted to the Federated Treasurer– Angel Marie Persia. This served as the source of fund of the said
organization that was utilized for foods, drinks, payments for choreographers, costumes for MUSDA,
transportation, and other necessities of the Sophomore representatives. The total accumulated donation
from the BEED course was 25,341 pesos. For BSED course, the total accumulated donation was, 5,845
pesos. From BPED course, the total accumulated donation was, 1,795 pesos. To sum this up, the total
accumulated donations from all the courses was, 32,981 pesos plus the 5,000 pesos that was turned
over to the Sophomore Federated Organization from the former 2 nd Year Federated Organization, a
total of 37,981 pesos all in all.
The Secretary, of the organization prepared documents such as excuse letter and letter to
authorize the representatives of MUSDA to commence their practices at APAO, Camalig, Albay,
starting from November 8-13, 2023.
On the first day and the opening of intramurals, November 14, 2023, various activities
happened such as Fun Run, Zumba, Mass, Mr. and Ms. Intramurals 2023, and MUSDA competition.
Officers of the Sophomore Federated Organization together with other clubs and organization officers
helped facilitate the activities on that day.
