Toast Speech

The beginning of your toast should grab your audience’s attention

It is important to keep the remarks brief because toasts are generally given in the middle of
celebrations and they are not the main part of the event

The goal of a toast is to focus the attention on the person or persons being toasted

The true act of toast involves everyone in the group or community that is present during the
occasion. So even if somebody proposes a toast to someone, raises his glass, and take a sip but no
one responds, it will not count as a toast

It is designed to give both praise and a good-natured insult to a person being honored

It is written to honor a specific person

To build strong relations and to remember those who have died

It may also remind us of the things or persons we love the most

Rules on Antecedents

a. When “one” is used as a pronoun, its possessive form “one’s” should follow instead of “his,”
“her,” “its,” etc.
b. If a pronoun has two antecedents, it should agree with the nearest one
c. In referring to anybody, everybody, each, anyone, everyone, etc. The pronoun of the
feminine or the masculine gender is used according to the context

Adverb

- It is a word that modified a verb, an adjective, or another adverb


- It tells the reader how, when, where, why, how often, or how much action is performed
