Procedure
1. Prepare two glasses of water and label them A and B.
2. Put the same amount of water in a glass (hall full).
3. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar on glass A and 1 tablespoon of salt on glass B.
4. Mix it thoroughly until there are no solid sugar and salt that can be found.
5. Add another 1 tablespoon of sugar on glass A and 1 tablespoon of salt on glass B.
Process Questions:
1. What solution is Saturated?
2. What solution is an Unsaturated?
3. What are your observation on Solution A and Solution B?
Components of Solutions
Unsaturated – a solution that contains less solute than the solvent can dissolve at a given
temperature. Lighter in color
Saturated – a solution that contains the maximum amount of solute dissolved by given
amount of solvent. Intermediate in color
Super Saturated Solution – a solution that contains more solute than the maximum
amount the solvent can dissolve at a given temperature. It is darker in color and has excess
solid which can no longer dissolve. Darker color
Transition Statement
In studying solute, solvent and solubility it can answer more questions and wonders of
science about their properties and uses.
EVALUATION
The teacher will administer a short quiz to check the student’s mastery of the lesson and
their skills.
