This release uses Microsoft Installer for the install process for Windows operating systems.
Supported operating systems
Full build support is provided for the following operating systems: AIX 7.1 SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
Note:
Only full build support is available for the systems mentioned above - no patch installation is available.
Browser support
SAP Business Objects applications that are viewed in a browser support Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 in Compatibility mode only. Browsers running in Explorer 8 Standard mode are automatically switched to Compatibility mode when applications such as InfoView or the CMC are launched. Upon exiting the application, a browser reverts automatically to Internet Explorer 8 Standard mode. No user intervention is required to switch from one mode to another.

Publishing and Importing a Web Intelligence report to BI OnDemand
You can publish and import a Web Intelligence report to BI OnDemand. Once you have published the report, you can search, explore, visualize, and share the report using the many industry-standard BI tools offered within BI OnDemand. You can publish an existing or a newly created report. Ensure that you have a valid BI OnDemand user name and password. The publishing and importing of a Web Intelligence report to or from BI OnDemand is controlled by the following rights:
Rights Description Default State
Disable Export to BI On- This allows you to publish a Web Intelli- Enabled Demand for this user gence report to BI OnDemand. Disable import from BI This allows you to import aWeb Intelli- Enabled OnDemand for this user gence report fromBI OnDemand.
These rights apply only to Web Intelligence Rich Client and affect the viewer in these applications.

What's New in BusinessObjects Enterprise
Security enhancement
This release includes the following security enhancement: To prevent impersonation, BusinessObjects Enterprise now enables administrators to disable sensitive fields in all emails sent for scheduled reports. Specifically the From field can now be disabled using settings specified in the CMC.

BusinessObjects Enterprise Web Services now support cookie-based session affinity for load balancing environments.
Thread-dump support
This release includes enhanced supportability features. Thread dumps from SAP BusinessObjects deployments can now be retrieved for debugging purposes.

Command Line Input Option
The Command Line option of the Lifecycle Management Console enables you to promote objects through command line input from one SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise system to another SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise system.

What's New in Xcelsius 2008
Waterfall chart component
A new chart is available, that displays how an initial value is affected by a series of sequential positive or negative values. The Waterfall chart can be used, for example, to display the inventory level of goods that your retail business sells. Purchases of additional inventory are represented by positive values, and sales from inventory are represented by negative values. The columns are color-coded to distinguish between positive and negative values.
Additional alert support
In addition to the existing alert support, alerts are now supported for spreadsheet tables, and for combination charts that contain multiple data series.
Voyager
What's New in Voyager
Support for Essbase 11
Voyager now supports Essbase 11. For Windows, this support is provided via the Essbase 11 32-bit client. For Linux and UNIX, the Essbase 11 client is 64-bit only, so support is provided via the Essbase 9 32-bit client. Essbase 11 support does not add any new features to Voyager.

New features in Crystal Reports 2008
XML and webservice: replacing connections for both parent and child tables
The set location behavior of xml and webservice drivers has been changed so that you will no longer need to manually map tables one by one. When table A is mapped to table B in connection C, all the child tables of table A will be mapped automatically to connection C under table B.
XML and webservice: providing proxy support
Proxy support for XML and webservice drivers is now provided when you set the following information in your crconfig.xml file: <XML> <UseProxy>FALSE</UseProxy> <ProxyAddress> </ProxyAddress> <ProxyPort> </ProxyPort> </XML>

An SAP BW report that has been opened in Crystal Reports 2008 and saved directly from the Crystal Reports 2008 designer to BusinessObjects Enterprise now correctly uses the SAP style prompting feature.
SAP style prompting in Crystal Reports 2008: using compound variables
Compound variables in Crystal Reports 2008 are now compatible with compound variables in BEx Explorer.
Support for SAP iViews on Enterprise Portal 7.3
New method for deploying SAP iViews on Enterprise Portal 7.3 is Documented in the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Integration for SAP Solutions Installation and Administration Guide provided with this release.
