Instruction: Site Evaluation for Tourism Planning

Objective:
The objective of this activity is to conduct a comprehensive site evaluation to determine areas with the greatest potential for
tourism development. Through on-site investigation and evaluation of criteria items using appropriate methodologies, the
Tourism Planning Committee will rank sites based on their readiness and suitability for tourism.

Process:

Preparation:
Gather necessary tools and resources for on-site evaluation, including maps, questionnaires, and assessment forms.
Identify members of the Tourism Planning Committee responsible for conducting the site evaluation.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and experts to ensure their participation and input in the evaluation process.

On-Site Investigation:
Visit each potential, existing or emerging tourism site identified for evaluation.
Conduct direct observation of site characteristics, amenities, and existing infrastructure.
Engage in mapping activities to document site features, access points, and surrounding attractions.
Conduct oral interviews with residents, businesses, and community leaders to gather insights into the site's potential and
challenges.
Administer questionnaires to visitors or tourists, if applicable, to assess their experiences and preferences.
Facilitate focus group discussions or workshops to gather feedback and ideas from stakeholders regarding site development
opportunities and constraints.

Evaluation Criteria:
Utilize predetermined criteria items to assess each site's suitability for tourism development. These criteria may include
natural attractions, cultural heritage, accessibility, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and community support.
Apply appropriate methodologies, such as scoring systems or rating scales, to evaluate each criterion objectively.

Formulate Goals and Objectives:

Based on the evaluation findings, formulate clear goals and objectives for tourism development at each site.
Ensure that goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

Develop Strategies:
Develop strategies and action plans tailored to the unique characteristics and needs of each site.
Identify potential projects, programs, and activities to achieve the established goals and objectives.

Identify and Prioritize Actions:

Identify specific actions, projects, or initiatives necessary to implement the selected strategies.
Prioritize these actions based on their feasibility, potential impact, and alignment with overall tourism objectives.

Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy:

Develop a monitoring and evaluation strategy to track the progress and effectiveness of tourism development initiatives at
each site.
