Development
Background of Information for Learner
What is online platform?
It is a base of technologies designed to run within an online environment and
provides interactions online services.
Examples of Online Platforms
Presentation Tools- Graphic program that allow you to create slide show
presenting the topic, lecture, demonstrate to enlighten, educate, communicate,
or persuade the audience.
Examples: Prezi, Zoho Show, Slide share and MindMeister.

Cloud Computing – The practice of using a network of remote servers hosted


on the internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server
or a personal computer.
Examples: Google Drive, Drop box,
Social Media- Are computer -mediated tools that allow people, companies, and
other organizations to create, share, or exchange information, career
interests, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks.
Examples: Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr,
Web page Creation – Encompasses a number of important elements including
color, layout, and overall graphical appearance.
Examples: Wix, Weebly
File Management- Is the storing, naming, sorting and handling computer files.
Examples: Zamzar , Word2pdf
Mapping Tools- A transformation taking the points of one space into the points
of the same or another space.
The creation of maps, a graphic symbolic representation of the
significant features of part of the surface of the Earth.
Examples: Google Maps, Wikimapia
Content Management System (CMS)
Is a computer application (sometimes online or browser-based) that allows you
to publish, edit and manipulate, organize and delete web content . CMS is used
in blogs news websites and shopping.
Vocabulary Words
Blogs- is a discussion of informational website published on the web consisting
of discrete , often informal diary -style text entries (“post”
WordPress- one of most popular blogging platform.
Graphics- Visual images or designs on some surface, such as a wall, canvass,
screen , paper , or stone to inform , illustrate or entertain.
Layout- Is the process of planning and arranging graphics or text in a page.

Basic Principles and Elements of Graphics and Layout


Balance- The visual weight of objects, texture, colors and space is evenly
distributed on the screen. It can be

b. Asymmetrical - A layout may be asymmetrical where there is
an artistic and different intensity on one slide of the page

Emphasis – An area in the design that may appear


different in size, texture, shape or color to attract
the viewer’s attention.

Proportion - Visual elements create a


sense of unity where they relate
well with one another.
Consistency- There should be uniformity
of theme on each page.

Text –
The text type should be legible appropriate font
face, and arranged either left justified, right justified
or centered. The flow of the text and picture should
be easy to read.
Images- The image should be proportionate,
with sharp color and high resolution. The images
use should have caption.
Proximity and Harmony - The elements should be close together and
not scattered and arranged from each other. Elements should not be
cluttered and not compete with each other.
Shape and Color - Use color to create interest by providing variety in
design like the use of color and shapes.
Variety- This uses several design elements to draw a viewer’s attention.

Activity 2. “CoVid19 Infographics”


Direction: In this time of the CoViD19 pandemic, there is a need to fully inform
the public on how to keep ourselves safe even when we are outside our
homes. As a graphic designer of the National Government, you are tasked to
create an infographic material to be distributed to the people. This will be
placed in a long sized bond paper. You must be guided by the different
principles of graphic design while making your infographic material. Your work
will be guided with the rubric below:
