The Bateria National High School faculty conducted a Five-Day Mid -Year Performance
Review and Evaluation (MPRE) and School-based In-Service Training (INSET). On its first day,
January 24, 2024 at Science Laboratory of the school, it was started with a registration at 7:30 am
and followed by a short program started at 8:00 am.
The statement of the purpose given by the school administrator, Dr. Edgardo S. Diamos paved
a way for the teachers to strive more on the duties and responsibilities. During the morning session,
Dr. Diamos tackled the review of the performance of teachers and the school staff. He, then, gave
applications and insights on the objectives.

On the afternoon, Mrs. Aubrey M. Diaz, tackled the DepEd Memorandum No. 008, s. 2023, the
Multi-year Guidelines on the Results-Based Performance Management System–Philippine
Professional Standards for Teachers. She also discussed the Individual Performance Commitment
Mid-Year Review Form (IPCMRF), its 4 KRAs namely, KRA (1) Content Knowledge and Pedagogy,
(KRA 2) Learning Environment and Diversity of Learners, (KRA 3) Curriculum Planning and
Assessment and Reporting, and (KRA 4) Personal Growth and Professional Development.
The teachers also watched the live session on Introduction to Microsoft 365 with Microsoft 365
Tour and Overview, Outlook and Teams at 3:30 in the afternoon. The teachers, then, shall be
equipped on this matter. The day was filled with knowledge and skills to be applied for the students in
helping reach their dreams.

On the second day, in the morning session of January 25, 2024, a recorded video on National
Orientation on the Implementation of Catch-Up Fridays watched by the teachers. Reasons why there
is a need of Catch-Up Fridays are to respond to low proficiency levels in reading and the urgent need
to intensify Values, Health, and Peace Education and it supports the goals outlined in the MATATAG
curriculum. According to the speaker, Dr. Leila P. Areola, Director IV of Bureau of Learning Delivery,
school heads and teachers are the ones responsible in the conduct of the activity. It was structured
through which all Fridays will be designated, with the first half of the day on the National Reading
Program and the second half on Values, Health, and Peace Education. The Homeroom Guidance
Program will also be included. Catch-Up Fridays will not be graded, though, the primary objective is to
reinforce learning.
The second part of the orientation was on the National Reading Program. As being discussed
by the speaker, it is an initiative aimed at improving reading skills and outcomes for children and
young people across the country by providing access to high-quality reading materials and resources,
as well as professional development opportunities for teachers and other education professionals.

On the afternoon session of January 25, 2024, Mrs. Aubrey M. Diaz discussed on the DepEd
Memorandum No. 001 s., 2024 regarding the Implementation of Catch-Up Fridays. This is a learning
mechanism intended to strengthen the foundational, social, and other relevant skills necessary to
actualize the intent of the basic education curriculum. A class program was thoroughly discussed and
the teachers constructed class program.
The teachers watched a video on the speech of DepEd Secretary, Hon. Sara Z. Duterte on
DepEd Matatag, its curriculum, students, teachers, and stakeholders on reaching the goal for the
betterment of our students.

On January 26, 2024, the teachers had their In-Service Training at Calape National High
School. The clustered schools, Bateria National High School and Calape National High School
gathered together this day. The teachers were grouped into three subject areas; English, Mathematics
and Science.
The training was on the Higher-Order Thinking Skills for Professional Learning Package
(HOTS-PLP) for English, Mathematics, Science teachers. The sessions were started with a pre-test
on the SOLO objectives. SOLO (Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes) offers a structured
outline for the learners to use to build their learning and thinking. It motivates students
to ponder where they are presently in terms of their level of understanding, and what they must do
to progress. There were different facilitators or speakers in every group, Mrs. Marivic B. Ylanan for
English, Mrs. Virgie Felicano for Mathematics, and Mrs. Crispina Ambrad and Neizl Garcesa for
Science. They were both teachers from Calape National High School.

On January 29, 2024, the three different areas continued the remaining topic on Structure of
Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO). There were set of activities were given by the facilitators on
application of the SOLO Model where the participants have been skilled on making questions,
strategies to be applied and gave rationalizations in every objective.
Then, group activities had conducted and shared their answers and thoughts to the rest of the
groups. This was successfully done through the cooperation of the participants and the session was
ended by big smiles as they had learnt many things from the training. That, would be applied to
classroom setting and learning.

On the afternoon of January 29, 2024, the three groups were assembled for another sessions.
The first talk was on the National Orientation of Catch-Up Fridays discussed by Dr. Edgardo S.
Diamos, school administrator of Bateria National High School. He discussed an overview and how the
Catch-Up Fridays be implemented to the class. The second talk was on Community Linkages which
was discussed by Mrs. Ramilita G. Ayuda. Mrs. Irish D. Dosdos discussed the Classroom
Management on her part and gave insights to all the participants.

In the morning of January 30, 2024, Dr. Edgardo S. Diamos, discussed the DepEd Order No.
26, s. 2022, the Implementing Guidelines on the Establishment of School Governance Council. This
policy aims to recognize and strengthen the role of school stakeholders, alongside Local Government
Units (LGUs), as partners in providing learners accessible and quality education, upholding children's
rights, and promoting respect and well-being in the learning environment to ensure effective education
service delivery. The SGC shall function as a structure for shared governance and a feedback
mechanism at the school level.

The fifth day of Mid-Year Performance Review and Evaluation and School-Based In-Service
Training for Teachers, concluded with a closing program. The program was conducted at Science
Laboratory at 3:00 in the afternoon and started with a prayer, and followed by the singing of the
Philippine National Anthem and Sugbo Hymn. Mrs. Dulce Mae J. Layaguin gave her opening remarks,
Mr. Meljay Fariolen gave an impression and Mrs. Jovelyn C. Monares for the presentation of outputs.
Dr. Edgardo S. Diamos gave the challenge and Mr. Percilito C. Tillor delivered the acceptance. A
distribution of certificates to the facilitators or speakers and participants. The program was ended with
the words of gratitude by the School Paper Adviser, Mrs. Evelyn D. Albellar.
