PROJECT PROPOSAL

I. PROJECT TITLE:

Project READ “Reading Enhancement Activity Drill”

II. RATIONALE

Children with learning difficulties have the same psychological needs and characteristics as other children.
Some of them, however may be less able to comprehend abstracts ideas and concepts.Some may have poor
memory,poor level of motivation, and short span of attention in work situations or associated behavioral
problems.Non- readers or poor readers often have low opinions of themselves and their abilities.Many times
they feel isolated and behavior problems can surface. They can perform poorly in other subjects because they
cannot read and understand the materials.Often the readers tends to give-up.

So that, teachers from primary grades are providing extra instructional time to help children achieve levels of
literacy that will enable them to be successful through their school careers and beyond.

So then, Project READ program is developed to give additional help to Primary Grade Level pupils who have
fallen behind to learn to the best of their ability.

On the other hand, this project allows building Parent-Teacher relationships and essential for establishing
school- family partnership that constitutes the foundation for all other forms of family involvement in education.

III. OBJECTIVES

The project aims to accomplish the following objectives:

1. Assist pupil at risk to improve their reading skills


2. Enhance/develop the reading abilities of slow/ non readers
3. Evaluate the improvement of the pupil’s reading profiency
4. Equip pupils with necessary reading materials
5. Encourage a sense of personal responsibility for one’s own progress

III. METHODOLOGY

The proponent, with the guidance of the Principal and Head Teacher, spearheaded the project following
the series of activities:

1. Reproduction of Reading Materials in Filipino and English


2. Conduct a one-on-one reading test to classify the learners based on their weaknesses.
3. Conduct a data analysis on the previous school year for slow and syllabic readers
4. Meet Grades 1 to 3 teachers for planning
5. Send Alpabasa videos to learners who have access to internet and provide hard copies of these
reading materials to learners without access to internet
6. Implementing Project READ
7. Conduct Virtual Oral Reading to learners who have access to internet
8. Home visit the learners for remedial reading and follow up.
9. Implement a consistent, regular reading intervention program.
10. Seek help from the parents by relaying to them their children’s progress.
11. Provide more reading comprehension activities.

Benefits/Anticipated Outcomes
This program will help the learners of Lara Integrated School to address their reading development
needs in time of COVID-19.

V.RECIPIENTS

All Grade 1 and Grade 2 learners of Lara Integrated School will benefit from this project.

VI. TARGET DATE

Upon the approval of the project, the program/project will start following the standard procedure set by the
school.
