Design / Methodology / Approach (How are the objectives achieved? Include the main
methods used for the research and the approach to the topic.):
The methodology used in this research is a case analysis approach. The authors conducted a
case study in five manufacturing firms to understand the enhanced manufacturing performance
of an ERP system and its potential to overcome the drawbacks of fragmented systems. In
addition, open-ended questions were asked during interviews with IS executives, and their
responses work for improving the reliability of the study. The interviews were also conducted
with MIS directors, chief information officers, or ERP implementation and project leaders
because they have a comprehensive overview of both the technical and business aspects of the
system.
Findings/ Conclusions (What was found in the work, and what are the major conclusions)?
This will refer to analysis, discussion, or results.):
This article shows the benefits of implementing an ERP system in enhancing the performance
of an organization. An ERP system has proven to be an essential tool for coordinating
production at a global level, in addition achieving optimal production and sales. However,
many organizations have successfully automated their business processes by implementing
various kinds of computer hardware and software systems during the past few years. This
approach can lead organizations to innovation and provide a solid foundation for organizations
to explore new areas.
Practical Implications (What outcomes and implications for practice, applications, and
consequences are identified?):
The study identified three keys' areas. Using disparate systems in manufacturing operations
can lead to issues such as data inconsistency and process inefficiencies. In addition,
implementing ERP systems can present challenges like resistance to change and high
implementation costs. However, ERP systems can greatly enhance manufacturing performance
by improving data accuracy and increasing productivity.
Critique (Which parts of the paper do you like? Which parts of the paper do you not like?
Why?):
The part I like in this paper is the way authors emphasized the cost-effectiveness and vital
importance of implementing an ERP system for organizations in the global marketplace.
Additionally, the focus on advantages of integration outweighs the associated costs.
That’s why ERP is seen as an important tool for future survival and success in companies.
ERP can power organizations with the keys to adapt to changing market dynamics and stay
competitive. The long-term advantages and future-proofing investment for organizations
looking to secure their position in the global market.
