I. LEARNING COMPETENCY
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to be able to:
1. Identify factual and subjective information in the given statements;
2. Give their own examples of factual and subjective information; and
3. Analyze the given article if it is factual or subjective.

A. Preliminary Activities: (Indicator 5)

B. Review:
Ask the students the following questions:
1. Give at least 3 elements of a One-Act Play?
2. How does One-Act Play differs from a regular play? (Indicator 3)
C. Motivation:
Activity 1: Determine Relevance
1. Display on the screen 5 statements and let the students determine
which statement is not related to the rest of the statements.
2. Ask the students what makes statement number 3 irrelevant?
3. Explain to the students that Authors present their ideas and support
them with specific reasons and evidence to convince the reader. Thus,
a reader should evaluate the reasons and evidence before giving a
judgment.
D. Discussion:
1. Explain to the students that the information used by an author in giving
his/her reasons or evidence can be classified according to: factual
information and subjective information. (Indicator 1 Within)
E. Application:

then explain why.
