7. A bike manufacturer produces 300 units of bikes in a day. The varying level of
demand for the bikes and their associated probabilities are given as hereunder:
The production cost and sales price per unit are Rs 40000/- and Rs 50000/-
respectively. Unsold quantity, if any, is to be disposed of a loss of Rs 15000. Also
there is a penalty of Rs 5000/- per unit if the demand is not met. Using the following
random numbers 12,99,67,93,88,07,72,13,23,39 estimate the total profit/loss for the
farm for the next 10 days.

9. A soft drink company has three factory outlets for its products. It distributes the
products to five zonal centres for sale. The associated transportation costs are given in
the following table. The factory capacity is 40, 30, and 50 respectively. Find out the
initial solution for the following transportation problem using North-West and VAM
Method:

10. A bed mart company is in the business of manufacturing beds and pillows. The
company has 40 hours for assembly and 32 hours for finishing work per day.
Manufacturing of a bed requires 4 hours for assembly and 2 hours in finishing.
Similarly a pillow requires 2 hours for assembly and 4 hours for finishing. Profitability
analysis indicates that every bed would contribute Rs.80, while a pillow contribution is
Rs.55 respectively. Find out the daily production of the company to maximize the
contribution (profit). Design this problem as a LPP and solve using the Simplex
method in order to maximize the total profit.
