Single and Twin Cylinder

High-performance compressors

Technology
s Significant reduction of power

Proven design
s Mono-block construction of the

drainage during the off-load phase from the PR system (Power Reduction, 2nd generation) integrated into cylinder head
s Lower temperatures of the delivered

crankcase with excellent torsional resistance

s Fully hardened steel crankshaft s Extended lifetime s Maintenance-free

air from the TR system (Temperature Reduction, enhanced cooling capacity of cylinder head)
s Protection against excessive pressure

from the (optional) relief valve integrated into cylinder head

PR = Power Reduction

Benefits of PR system
s Power saving s Oil carry-over reduction s Temperature reduction during offload

s Sliding leaf valves cover slots

to additional dead volume (1-cyl.) / PR channel (2-cyl.) (4) 3 Offload phase:

s PR line (1) pressurized with system

phase
s Scavenging of delivery line, prevents

pressure by the air dryer

s Piston at inner stop (5), actuating

freeze-ups
s Reduction of noise level

both sliding leaf valves (2)

s Sliding leaf valves open slots

Operation of PR system
Pump phase:
s PR line (1) vented to atmosphere s Spring keeps the piston together

to additional dead volume (1-cyl.) / PR-channel (2-cyl.) (4) (*) Pin linking sliding leaf valve and piston

with both sliding leaf valves (2) at the outer stop (3)

Pump phase:
s Sliding leaf in closed position,

Loading position:
s PR channel deactivated by sliding

Safety valve:
s Valve seat is blocked by

spring-loaded ball
s If the pressure in the outlet cavity

additional dead volume disconnected

s Air passage via inlet and

leaf valves
s Air passes through compressor via

outlet valves

inlet and outlet valves

exceeds the preset value, the safety valve opens and releases the air back into the inlet chamber

Offload position:
s Sliding leaf valves connecting

chamber (additional dead volume)

s Additional volume leeds to lower

PR channel to cylinders
s Air flows back and forth between

compression pressure
s Reduced airflow for scavenging of

both cylinders via PR channel

s Reduced airflow for scavenging of

COMPRESSORS

Temperature reduction (TR) system in single- and twin-cylinder compressors

Design and operation

The integration of an additional plate effectively enlarges the active cooling surface in the compressors cylinder head. The extended flow path and dwell time of the heated, compressed air in the cylinder head leads to a considerable reduction of temperature.
