ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
- some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the tasks and they may
also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian;
-some students might feel nervous and reluctant to participate in the activity, so they may need
more encouragement.
Assumptions:
- Ss must be familiar with environmental issues;
- Ss must be eager to participate.
PROCEDURE
Warm Up
Aim:
-to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Procedure:
-T greets the pupils by s and encourages the pupils to greet her back and ask they how they are, T
checks homework.
Timing:5 min
Activity 1: Lead-in
Aim:-
to recycle and practice the vocabulary taught previously about environment, pollution and
environment problems
Procedure:
T then gets into the topic by asking Ss to look at some pictures describing a happy, healthy
non-polluted Earth vs. an unhappy, sick and polluted Earth. T asks Ss to compare and contrast
the pictures orally and elicits a series of global environmental problems. T writes the word web
and S’s complete it
Timing:7 minutes.
Activity 2 – Pre-Listening
Aim:
-to present and activate the vocabulary of the lesson regarding the environment
-to develop and practice the pupils’ listening
Procedure:
-T highlights the importance of environmental protection and points out the fact that Earth Day is
a day celebrated each year and is marked by events held worldwide to increase awareness and
appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment.
-T explanans that they will play a game called “Battleship” but in order to have ammunition
they have to answer 4 questions and if they didn’t answer a question correctly the other teams
have the opportunity to win “the bullet” . The team whose planes suffered less damage win the
game . They will write on the blackboard the types of pollution and examples.
Timing:8 min
Activity 3 – While-Listening
Aim:
-to develop general understanding of the text
Procedure:T asks Ss to listen to the song “Save the planet” and fill in the with word or
expressions from the exercise 1
-T asks S’s questions About the text to make sure they understood it
Timing: 5 min
Activity 4 – After-Listening
Aim:
-to use the information from the text
-to recycle the new vocabulary and produce language
Procedure: Ss answer to the question of ex 2 , talk about ways in which they can protect our
planet, become eco-friendlier .
-T gives worksheets with matching halves of sentence and circle the correct answer in order to
talk about ways they van protect the planet.
Timing 13 min
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT :
Aims:
-to evaluate SS work
-to give SS homework
Timing: 5 minutes
Procedure:Ss must devise a green poster entitled Help save the planet and write about some
ways they can help save the planet by reducing, reusing and recycling. Ss must try to find
pictures or make drawings to illustrate their ideas.
