SURVEY PREPARATION

Survey Plan Survey Team Documents collection Survey Route

Before survey, the team should study the contract and biding documents to clarify the technique standard and
requirements of client/customer. To improve the survey efficiency, the team should bring with the destination map,
with the road being recognized clearly. Bring the hard-copy of design, diagram, and existing network if available.
You need to obtain so much information about the OSP survey, and it would take so long time when confirming
that on the scene, so don't bring the problem to the scene if it can be soluted before survey. The successful
survey should be based on the necessary preparation.

6.4.2.PLDT Standard does not require erection of new poles based on long-
span or over-span. It is the compliance to the allowable sagging as well as
compliance to vertical cable clearance that dictates the need for new poles
for erection.
6.4.3. Average poles span of 50 to 70 meters is based on rule of thumb. In
terms of Technical Standards, what should be complied are the allowable
vertical clearances as follows:

WHEN TO PROPOSED A POLE
Confidential ▲

For sites not allowing RTA or Poles with issue.

1. Assess the Spanning distance from existing pole that OK for attachment to the next existing pole. If it is
straight line and with line of sight (LOS). We can proposed up to 70m spanning before proposing a New Pole
depends on site status.

2. If there is a low distribution of houses in an area, we have the flexibility to extend up to 80 meters
attachment, as long as the subsequent attachment does not exceed 80 meters on the next span.

3. Assess the location theoritically to distribute low number of proposed poles as much as possible, plan the
pole location if terrain has no issue and landmarks are mostly Vacant lot, Proposed pole on the right / left side
only, avoid proposing alternate FOC route unless required or needed on the actual area status.

4. No need to proposed a pole between existing Pole if straight line, 70m was based on rule of thumb, but
during implementation what should complied is to follow allowable sag and vertical clearance.

5. Joint Pole agreement standards. (*REFER TO POLE DATA VISAYAS)
