Question 2 (2 points): The winding of AC machine gets parameters: Z = 24; m = 3; 2p =4; a =1; y =
5.
a. Define the winding factor (kdq) of this machine.
b. Explaine the meaning of selecting the short pitch winding for the armature winding of AC machine.
Question 3 (3 points): The parameters of a three phase induction motor are given:
Type: 3K 160 M2; Prated = 22 kW; nrated = 2940 rpm; ηrated = 90%; Urated = 380/660V-D/Y; f = 50Hz;
cosjrated = 0,94; Mmax/Mrated =3,1; Mstart/Mrated =2,6; Istart/Irated = 7; Insulation level: F. The motor is
working with a voltage of 380V.
a. Please xxplaine the meaning of the notation 3K 200 M2.
b. When the motor is operating with the rated load, please compute the active power and reactive power
taken from the system.
c. Calculate the rated current (Irated) and starting current (Istart) of the motor motor. When the motor is
started by the star-delta connection (Y/D), please define the starting current at that time.
d. Calculate the rated torque (Mrated), maximum torque (Mmax) and starting torque (Mstart) of the motor.
Question 4 (2 points): Two synchronous generators are working in parallel to supply a load of 1250
kW, with a power factor of 0.92. The apparent powers of the generator 1 (G1) and generator 2 (G2) are
respectively given as 850kVA and 700kVA, for a same power factor of 0.8.
a. Please present conditions for the G1 and G2 to operate in parallel (0.5 point).
b. If the G1 is connected to a load of 500kW and 300kVAr, please determine the active and reactive
powers of the G2 (1.5 points).
Question 5 (1 point):
A series excited DC motor gets parameters: Prated = 5,5kW (rated power); Urated = 110V (rated voltage);
nrated = 1000 rpm (rated speed); hrated = 0,85 (rated efficiency). Please calculate the excited current.
