Scenario No. 1
Ms. A, 45/F under the service of Dr. V is scheduled for Pleural catheter
insertion right under IV sedation in the Operating Room on March 25
at 12pm. TCVS and Anesthesia orders are explained to both Ms. A and
her son, and written as follows:
Secure consent for the procedure
NPO 8 hours before the procedure
Start D5NSS1L x 60 ml/hr once on NPO
VS before OR
However, Ms. A and her son are both anxious and hesitant since this is
the first time that she will undergo the said procedure. As a nurse, use
AIDET to prepare the patient for the procedure
Scenario No. 2
Ms. M is the nurse on duty on the night of March 26. Her patient Mr. C
is scheduled for UTZ of the whole abdomen the following morning. He
verbalized that he wants the procedure to be done in the afternoon
instead since his daughter will be coming home from work at that
time. How will you explain the procedure to the patient using AIDET?
Scenario No. 3
Ms. D, 34lF is admitted to ward 3A for chemotherapy. Her attending
physician Dr. G made rounds and noted her hemoglobin level to be 82
upon checking her CBC result. He ordered for blood transfusion of 2
units PRBC before chemotherapy. Due to her previous reaction to BT,
Dr. G ordered her vital signs to be monitored every 30 minutes while
ongoing BT. As health care providers, use AIDET to help the patient
undergo the procedure
Scenario No. 4
Mr. B arrived at ward 3C as direct admission. Use AIDET to orient the
patient and her son on ward policy, facilitation of lab exams and
bedside care.
Thank You!!
