1.What is limestone?
Limestone is a type of sedimentary rock, for uncounted generations, trillions
upon trillions of coral polyps have lived and died, leaving behind a material
called limestone.

2. What are some structure that limestone construct?


Limestone was used to construct many churches and castles, especially the
Great Pyramids of Egypt.

3. Information about Great Barrier!


The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system, composed of
over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands.
The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia.
It is the world largest structure built by living organism.
It was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981.
CNN labelled it is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World in 1997.

4. Is coral poylps are a type of plant?


They are tiny-bodied animals related to jellyfish.
What is a reef? A reef is a ridge of material at or near the surface of the ocean.
There are natural and artificial reefs. Coral reefs are one of the most diverse and
delicate ecosystems on the planet.

I've read a marine article recently and it shows that coral reefs make up less than
1% of the surface of the world's oceans but they are home for 25% of all marine
species including fish, corals, lobsters, clams and sea turtles, seahorses…
6. How can people do harm to coral reefs?
Pollution, overfishing, destructive fishing practices using dynamite or cyanide,
collecting live corals for the aquarium market, mining coral for building
materials and jewelry-making.

7. Do you think that pollution can be a danger to coral reefs?


Yeh sure, pollution degrades water quality, chemicals kill the reef life, leaving
coral reefs susceptible to disease and possibly death.
And a warming climate is some of the many ways that damages reefs all around
the world every day. Up to 99% of the world’s coral reefs may deteriorate if
global warming countinues.

8. Can you tell me some sollutions that can protect the coral reefs?
Practice safe and responsible diving and snorkeling.
Take a reef-friendly approach to sun protection.
Recycle and dispose of trash properly ( (especially plastic).
Eat sustainable seafood
Minimize use of fertilizers ( nutrients pollute).
Use environmentally-friendly modes of transportation (choose a fuel-efficient
vehicle).
Volunteer! If you live near the coast, volunteer in local beach or reef cleanups
Conserve water. Use only the water you need.
Spread the word! ( educate your community)
