Warnings and Cautions

Warnings and Cautions

CAUTION Patient data may be lost -- DO NOT delete a patient’s images

until you have verified that the patient can be successfully
exported to media.

CAUTION Unknown exam date -- If you recall a past exam, recheck/verify

the “true examination date” from a worksheet, graph, or
anatomical survey page (this can be done through the
measurement function). The date that is on the “title bar” may
not be the actual examination date.

CAUTION DO NOT restore presets saved from other LOGIQ Book

systems.
Loss of function or erratic operation may result if system
presets are not properly backed up and restored.
Before the upgrade to R1.2.5 software, perform recommended
backup procedures.
The upgrade of application software from versions R1.1.2 to
version R1.2.5 converts and preserves Imaging Presets,
Connectivity Configuration, Measurement Configuration, and
Annotations/Body Patterns Libraries in the system wherever
possible. Only the latest four user defined presets are
converted from R1.1.2 to R1.2.5.
After the upgrade to R1.2.5 software, we strongly recommend
that you save all current system presets and configuration data
to media to be used to restore system information for future
reference.

CAUTION The system should rest on the handle to allow an air gap to
prevent overheating.

Crash Recovery Instructions

In cases where the system detects an internal error, the system

may reboot on its own. If this happens, the system automatically
returns to the start-up screens after a period of time equal to a
normal power-on sequence, taking approximately four minutes.
All images and measurements, except for generic worksheets,
are preserved in the system. When the system returns, the
system alerts you that unsaved images are still in the system
from the previous patient. Respond to the prompt to continue the
current patient. Check that all images and measurements have
been preserved in the system. Then resume the exam.
If the system fails to respond to your commands within a typical
period of time,
1. Reset the probe.
2. You may need to manually reset the system.
Reset the system by selecting <Alt> <Ctrl> R (from the
keyboard). All images and measurements, except for generic
worksheets, are preserved in the system. When the system has
fully powered up, the system alerts you that unsaved images are
still in the system from the previous patient. Respond to the
prompt to continue the current patient. Check that all images
and measurements have been preserved in the system. Then
resume the exam.

Power On/Off Procedure

To turn on the system

1. Ensure that the unit is properly plugged into an AC outlet of

sufficient capacity (120v/12A or 240v/6A) or a battery is
inserted which is not empty.
2. Momentarily press the On/Off switch on the control panel.
The backlit color changes from amber to green.
3. The system should now go through its boot-up process with
no further user intervention.
4. Cold boot-up time for the system is 2-3 minutes.

To Restart the system

If the user needs to restart the system in the middle of an

examination, for whatever reason, the preferred method to
restart LOGIQ Book is: <Ctrl> <Alt> R. This method of
restarting will take significantly less time than the cold boot-
up.

New Patient Process

Some Notes before you get going:
NOTE: Tab works to move the user between the highlighted fields.
NOTE: NEVER put anything under the “operator” field -- use
“perf.phys.)” as whoever is performing the examination
(physician or sonographer, suggestion -- use initials). Changing
“operator” can result in losing information from the archive at this
time.
NOTE: Verify your data flow -- Should almost always say “Local Archive
--Int HD”.
NOTE: If you are working from “Worklist” the dataflow will either say
”Broker” or it will give the name of what it was called within the
Connectivity package.
NOTE: DO NOT work on the LOGIQ Book if the dataflow displays as No
Archive.
NOTE: Do NOT use the Removable DC Data Flows on the New Patient
menu.
NOTE: Selecting <Ctrl T> will allow you to view the Training CD on the
LOGIQ Book screen.
When starting a new patient exam, ensure that you do the
following:
1. Make sure that the previous exam has been ended by
selecting <End Exam> from the keyboard.<Permanently
store> data for future.
2. Select <New Patient> from keyboard Or if you are in the
Active image page select <Patient> at the top left of the
screen.
3. You are now on the New Patient Page.
4. Select New Patient with the trackball and white cursor
arrow.
5. Pop up window appears with questions: Answer question.
• Store image permanently.
• Delete images.
• Go to active images.
• (These selections refer to the last patient done on the
system).
• ALWAYS select "Store images permanently" rather than
selecting "Delete Images" In this way, you can always
go back and delete them later, without losing any
information.

6. Fill in patient information.

7. There MUST be some sort of number put into the ID
position.
8. Choose the exam category from the left column listing (this
will save you a step in Presets).
9. To fill in more information on the patient, fill in the middle
box.
10. For example, in the Obstetrics window:

• If you only know the EDD, click on the grayed out
section that says “EDD by GA” and the field will turn
white so that you can enter the data.
• You can also fill in information only for GA by click on
the grayed out “GA” and the following field will light up
allowing you to enter data.
Gravida -- Number of pregnancies.
Para -- Number of live births.
When the above do not add up, fill in the last two questions:
AB -- abortions -- Number of abortions.
Ectopic -- Number of ectopic pregnancies.
11. Detail” -- Allows the user to enter further information in point
form or sentence form Indications and Comments -- Select
“Detail” again to get out of Detail (toggle on/toggle off
function).
12. “Fetus” -- only if you are doing more than one fetus --
change the number to the number of fetus’ present -- up to 4
(quadruplets).
13. You can also select a patient from the patient database at
the bottom of the patient menu.
14. Columns drive the order of the patients displayed. The
column that you select drives the order of the displayed
patient database.
15. Patient Search Key -- choose how to look through the
archive.
16. Prev and Next -- can look through the archive one at a time
above or below the top labeled name.
17. “Register” is used after entering patient information on the
New Patient page to allow the user to take an image of this
page.
18. Do not select “Register” if you are automatically generating
an ID.

19. Select <New Patient> key on keyboard, <Exit> on new

patient page to get to the imaging screen to start your
examination [Escape or Freeze (to unfreeze) also
apparently works for now].
20. Select the proper preset from the <Preset> page. The
LOGIQ Book is preset dependent, that is, you will get the
best image and color flow for the Kidney if you select
“Renal” rather than “abdomen” to do a kidney exam. There
will be fewer key strokes and the image is optimized for this
exam.
21. Perform your examination.
22. When you have completed the study, press <End Exam>.
23. <Permanently Store> the images/loops you want on the
hard drive.
