Dear Primrose Families,

We are proud to welcome you to the Primrose community!

At Primrose, we have always believed who children become is as important as what they know. We are also
passionately committed to creating an environment where every child, family member, and staff member feels safe and
has a sense of belongingness.

That’s why, in addition to academic skills, the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum places an equally strong emphasis
on character development skills and introducing these important skills in a developmentally appropriate way. Every day,
your child will be learning character development traits such as care, compassion, generosity, respect for others, and
fairness, as well as important concepts related to diversity, culture, and social responsibility.

Additionally, we hold each Primrose school to high standards of safety and cleanliness while maintaining a caring and
nurturing environment where children can thrive.

During this time of enhanced concern with COVID-19 and variants, each Franchise Owner and their School Leadership
Team are continuing to stay up to date with the latest state and local guidelines, licensing requirements and CDC
guidelines regarding the safety and well-being of your child. With a clear appreciation of the trust, you place in them,
local Franchise Owners are committed to following stringent Primrose Schools health and safety requirements as well as
to meeting or exceeding the guidelines from local and state officials.

Schools have implemented procedures to limit the spread of COVID-19 and variants and are frequently communicating
with families and staff to convey the measures in place within their school. Notably, these enhanced procedures impact
some of the policies that were previously in place in Primrose schools. Given the differences between geographic areas
and the need for Primrose schools to continuously adapt based on the circumstances and any changing guidance or
requirements, we have not reflected any temporary or school-specific COVID-19 and variant-related policy changes in
the Parent Handbook. Each Franchise Owner will address any changes in its Parent Handbook Addendum, or directly
with parents in writing when conditions change.

Thank you for trusting us to partner with you in the education and care of your child.

INTRODUCTION
Today’s parents consider a multitude of needs when seeking the right early education and care partner. At Primrose, you will find:
• A safe, secure, and healthy environment
• Quality early education and nurturing care
• Accredited programs and high-quality service
• An educational approach that purposefully blends child-initiated and teacher-guided learning experiences with a strong
emphasis on character development and life skills to support the development of the whole child in social-emotional,
cognitive, creative, and physical domains
• Personalized attention for each child and each family

Primrose Schools is a franchise system, and each Primrose school is independently owned and operated by a Franchise Owner(s),
who is a franchisee of Primrose Schools. This Parent Handbook is designed to provide information regarding the Primrose brand and
to address policies and practices that are common across all Primrose schools. School-specific details and safety enhancements will
be provided by the Franchise Owner in the Parent Handbook Addendum for your school, or otherwise communicated in writing to
you.

We know the quality of the teacher to whom you entrust your child each day is very important to you; and it is important to us and Primrose
Franchise Owners, too! Each school has a School Leadership Team that recruits dedicated people who fit the Primrose culture. They hire
teachers who share our values, as well as possess a love of children and a passion for high-quality early learning. We provide continual,
extensive training materials for staff in the schools so they embrace the importance of building trusted relationships and interactive
communications with children and can guide our purposeful, balanced approach. Staff members in every Primrose school must meet annual
requirements for continual learning and development.

Every Primrose Franchise Owner strives to develop trusted relationships between parents and their school staff. When the school
staff and parents work together, children receive the greatest benefit. Should you have any questions or concerns, you should direct
them to the School Leadership Team or the Franchise Owner at your school.

Primrose Culture
Our History

• Paul and Marcy Erwin founded Primrose Schools in 1982. Jo Kirchner joined the company in 1990 as Vice President.

• Marcy Erwin chose the name “Primrose” from a historic site built in 1839, named “Primrose Cottage,” located near the
original Primrose School campus.

• A rooster weathervane adorned the top of the first Primrose School. Today, the weathervane, signifying direction, sits on
the top of most Primrose Schools and serves as the Primrose logo.

• From 1999 until 2016, Mrs. Kirchner served as President and CEO. In early 2016, Steve Clemente
was named President, and Mrs. Kirchner continues as CEO of the company.

• Since its inception, the Primrose Schools Children’s Foundation has donated several million dollars
to charity organizations, including Save the Children, Reach Out and Read, Zero to Three, Ronald
McDonald House, and many others that focus on the needs of young children and their families.

Our Principles of Service

Approach each day with joy
Build trusted relationships
Connect with warmth and sincerity
Deliver the WOW experience

Our Primrose Balanced Learning® Approach

Balanced Learning® is our exclusive, time-tested approach, created from the
best early education wisdom that balances purposeful play with nurturing
guidance from teachers to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and
compassion.
• Balanced Learning® curriculum is a research-informed blueprint
that guides teachers and parents to help each child build the right
foundation for an active mind, a healthy body, and a happy heart.
Our character development and life skills program help your child
develop self-regulation, responsibility, gratitude, respect for
others, and a generous heart.
• The Balanced approach to training and development provides
teachers with knowledge, skills, and resources that empower them
to develop your child’s fullest potential through each stage of development, building one skill upon another from simple to
complex.
• All classroom equipment and instructional materials are purposefully selected to meet health and safety requirements and
enhance your child’s learning experiences.
• High-quality assessment and instruction occur during daily interactions. Teachers intentionally observe your child in the
natural classroom environment to gain a comprehensive understanding of what your child knows and is able to do.
• Sharing in your child’s learning experience is a joy for the teachers in our schools, and they also enjoy sharing these
moments with you through our school-to-home communication tools and e-newsletters.

Our Primrose Promisesm

We believe who children become is as important as what they know.
• Our Primrose Promisesm engages all of us in giving without expectation and helping others in need.
• In addition to helping at-risk children and communities, our Primrose Promisesm Caring & Giving events are integrated
throughout the curriculum so that your child can develop and demonstrate their character in authentic ways.

Our Standards of Excellence

We use quality assurance and continuous improvement processes to ensure safe and consistent experiences for children and
families. Our practices include these tools:

Service Excellence Assurance Accreditation is a self-study, continuous improvement process used to

strengthen a commitment to excellence in all areas of leading and managing a Primrose School. We
pay rigorous attention to policies and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality to staff,
children, and parents.

CogniaTM Corporation Systems Accreditation represents recognized standards of quality that impact
children’s lifelong learning and support young learners in the highest regard. Cognia’s Performance
Accreditation for Early Learning Schools motivates schools to continuously improve on behalf of the
young children they serve. Cognia considers the whole institution—leadership, the programs, the
cultural context, and the community of stakeholders—to determine how well these components align
to meet the needs of students.

Surveys We use independent, third-party resources to seek feedback from staff and parents to assist us in
continuously improving our schools.

SECTION 1: ADMINISTRATION
Attendance and Schedules
Absences or Late Arrival
For the health and safety of each child, it is important that you notify the School Leadership Team anytime your child will arrive late
or will not be attending school. If your child is ill, this notification alerts the school to the potential spread of contagions in the school.

Dismissal
Occasionally, a child has difficulty adjusting to a private preschool environment. If this circumstance occurs with your child, members
of the School Leadership Team will make every effort to work professionally and respectfully with you and your child to determine an
appropriate course of action. The School Leadership Team reserves the right to dismiss any student—should it be deemed
necessary—after a reasonable adjustment period or at any time, for any reason, during a child’s enrollment at the discretion of the
Franchise Owner. Note: All tuition and related classroom fees are nonrefundable, are due and payable.

Inclement Weather
If weather does not permit outside play, appropriate large muscle gross-motor activities will be offered indoors. Determination for
outside play is based on the temperature as reported by a thermometer outside the building or a local weather station with the most
current weather information in conjunction with the Child Care Weather Watch chart.

During inclement weather conditions, the School Leadership Team makes every reasonable effort to open the school. When the local
school system closes due to inclement weather, Primrose may also close. The School Leadership Team reserves the right to
determine closures they deem necessary in the interest of child and staff safety. If the school closes, parents will be notified using
devices that may include texting, email, and ProCare app.

Note: All tuition and related classroom fees are due and payable.

School Holidays and Teacher In-Service Days

At minimum, the following holidays are observed:

• Labor Day - September

• Thanksgiving Holiday (Two days) - November
• Christmas Holiday (Two days) - December
• New Year’s Day - January
• Presidents’ Day - February
• Good Friday - April
• Memorial Day - May
• Independence Day - July
• Teacher In-Service Days (two per year) - January and August

Additional days observed by individual schools are listed in the Addendum provided.

Elementary School In-Service Days

If the local elementary school closes because of a Teacher In-Service Day or other holiday, your Primrose school may offer a special
full-day school-age program at the school. Daily rates apply.

Primrose In-Service Professional Development Days

In-Service Professional Development Days provide a significant teaching and learning opportunity for the School Leadership Team
and Staff related to the most updated information on teaching methods and instructional materials for early childhood education.
This instruction improves their ability to enhance the early childhood learning experience for your child. The school is closed for
children on these days, and regular tuition applies.

Withdrawal
If you find it necessary to withdraw your child for any reason, you must submit a written notice to the School Leadership Team prior
to the withdrawal date. The written notice must include the following information:

• Date of submission of the notice

• Last date child will attend
• Reason for withdrawal

Note: All tuition and related classroom fees are due and payable for the notice period. No exceptions.
7
After you provide a written notice of withdrawal, or your child is absent for two consecutive weeks with no notice, the School
Leadership Team will proceed to fill the child’s classroom space. To re-enroll, you will need to pay any applicable re-enrollment
fees. Re-enrollment is contingent on available space.

Note: No portion of paid or outstanding tuition fees are refunded or credited in the event of withdrawal.

Fees and Payments

Annual Registration and Supply Fee
A non-refundable registration fee for initial enrollment is due upon registration and prior to each subsequent school year.
Supplies fees, where applicable, may be assessed annually or biannually as noted by the school’s tuition schedule. These fees
are non-refundable under any circumstances, including but not limited to, dissatisfaction with the school’s performance of any
kind.

Late Pickup Fee

You will be charged a late fee if you pick up your child after the designated closing time as specified on the Enrollment
Application and Agreement or as stated in the Parent Handbook Addendum.

If your child remains at school after normal business hours, a member of the School Leadership Team will attempt to contact
you, first. If a member of the School Leadership Team is unable to contact you, he or she will call the listed emergency contacts
for pickup. When you leave a child at school after business hours and a member of the School Leadership Team is unable to
contact you, a member of the School Leadership Team will contact the appropriate regulatory agency, including, but not
limited to, the state family and children’s services authorities.

Methods of Payment
Payments are made only through ACH, information must be entered directly into your ProCare App.

Cash Payments
For safety reasons, schools do not accept cash payments.

Tuition
To ensure consistent quality programming and high-quality staffing, tuition is due even when children are absent. At times, it
might be necessary to close the school campus due to weather conditions, holidays, or unforeseen circumstances. No portion
of tuition is prorated, refunded, or cancelled in the event of absence, holiday, school closing, withdrawal, reduced hours or
dismissal from the school.

Past-due tuition for two consecutive weeks might result in the loss of your child’s reserved space at the school. Failure to pay
will constitute a default, which entitles the owner to all remedies as prescribed by law, including reasonable attorneys’ fees
and other costs to collect.

The tuition structure is reviewed annually to ensure the financial requirements to operate a high-quality educational childcare
facility are met. You will be notified of any tuition increases at least 30 days in advance of the effective date.

Student File Information

Health and Immunization
You must provide a copy of a current certificate of immunization or a physical exam verifying adequate protection against
childhood diseases as required by local, state, and other regulatory agencies. You can obtain this certification from the local
health department or private physician.

Immunizations and exemptions are issued with expiration dates, and a record with a future expiration must always be kept on
file. The parent must obtain an updated certificate of immunization prior to the expiration date of the certificate currently on
file for the child. Admission or continued enrollment may be denied if records are not updated.

If you choose not to immunize your child, you must provide a signed affidavit or medical exemption in conformance with
applicable state law. In the event there is a vaccine-preventable disease outbreak, children who have not been immunized will
be excluded from attendance. For the protection of all children, the School Leadership Team reserves the right to deny
enrollment to non-immunized children.

2
8
Persons Authorized to Pick Up Child
It is the responsibility of the registering parent or guardian to notify the school in writing of all persons authorized to pick up
your child. Anyone picking up your child must present government-issued photo identification before the child is released.

A child may be released to any person on the authorized pickup list without notifying the parents. Parents must provide in
writing any changes to the persons authorized to pick up your child. A Primrose staff member may not be listed as an
authorized person unless he or she is related to the child. A minor child or minor sibling is not an authorized person for pickup.

You must notify management in writing of any changes in telephone numbers, addresses, persons authorized to pick up the
child, family physician, or parents’ employers.

Student File Documentation

At minimum, you will need to provide the following documentation for each of your children prior to attending school. Other
documents might be required by state and local agencies and will be referenced in the Parent Handbook Addendum.

Required
• Completed Primrose Schools Enrollment Application and Agreement (updated annually)
• Current Certificate of Immunization
• Two current photographs
• Allergy and Dietary Restrictions (if applicable)
• Emergency Transportation Information
• A copy of the custody decree if the child does not live with both living parents

If a child does not live with both living parents or does live with a legal guardian who is not a biological parent, the child’s
parent or legal guardian must provide evidence of custody at the time he or she enrolls the child. A copy of the custody decree
is retained in the child’s permanent file. In addition to a copy of the custody decree, divorced or legally separated parents of an
enrolled child must also include the following information on the enrollment application:

• Who has legal custody

• Who has authorization to pick the child up from school
• Any court restrictions for either parent or legal guardian

The School Leadership Team requires a court-ordered decree to withhold a parent from having access to a child. It is the parents’
responsibility to provide updated legal documents any time the custody requirements change. The School Leadership Team will take
reasonable efforts to ensure that the custody decree retained in the Student File is enforced.

Vision and Hearing Screening

Recognizing the important relationship between vision and the learning process, the 68th Texas Legislature passed the Special Senses
and Communication Disorders Act of 1983. One purpose of the Act is to identify those children in need of professional vision and
hearing examinations. As a part of comprehensive preschool health programming, vision, and hearing screening, is aimed at detecting
problems which would limit the child’s educational opportunities. The Act requires that all children enrolled for the first time in any
preschool facility in Texas, or who are 4 years old through high school must have yearly record or the screening in the child’s file. The
following data must be recorded: Child’s Name, Type of Screening, Date, Screener, and Screening results. The school does have this
available to you annually; it is therefore the responsibility of the parent to fill out the form with their payment to participate in the
Hearing and Vision Screening when we make our announcement.

SECTION 2: PARENT ENGAGEMENT

Events
Birthday Parties
All children love to be invited to a birthday party. To avoid disappointing any child, schools allow the distribution of birthday
invitations at the school, either by the teacher or by other distributive means, as long as the invitations extend to every child in
the classroom.

For the protection of all children, school staff cannot provide a phone number or address of any children or their family
members. At a parent’s request, teachers can provide a list of the first names only of the children in the class.

Class Parties 2
Prior to planning a celebration for a special event in the classroom, such as a birthday party, you should make arrangements 9
with the teacher.

The school staff must prepare all food served to children at school. The School Leadership Team has an obligation to ensure
that any food offered to children while at school is wholesome and safe and complies with the Primrose Schools’ Food and
Nutrition Guidelines. Restricting food brought into the school reduces the risk of food poisoning and serious allergic reactions,
including anaphylactic shock.

As an alternative option to bringing treats for a special occasion, you can send a book to school on your child’s birthday. The
teacher can present the book to the class and read to classmates. Then, the teacher will place the book in the class library
with a label identifying it as a gift on behalf of your child.

For safety reasons, school staff or parents may not distribute small trinkets or balloons as party favors. If and when food is allowed to be
brought in such as cupcakes, everything must be store bought, with an original nutrition label and be completely nut free.

Special Events
Special events for your family are typically held at the school throughout the year. You and your family are encouraged to
participate. Attendance at these functions provides families and friends the opportunity to get to know the teacher and meet
other classmates and parents. The School Leadership Team will provide all the information you need so that you can plan in
advance to attend.

Parent Information
Home and School Partnering Connection for Your Child
Primrose and our Franchise Owners value the relationship that you and your child's teacher are able to develop that surround
and supports your child. You will be informed of your child's growth and development in a variety of ways.

Daily Reports. Each day you will receive a report about the experiences in which your child participated. These reports will be
sent to you through ProCare.

Assessments
Types and forms of assessment vary depending on the age of the child. The assessments are designed to measure each child’s
skill development, effectiveness of the curriculum implementation and teacher training. Teachers observe your child
throughout the day and collect samples of your child’s work in an individual portfolio to track your child’s progress in meeting
developmental milestones or learning outcomes. This information is shared with you during parent/teacher conferences.

Developmental Milestones. Teachers share and celebrate with you when your child reaches developmental milestones and
learns new concepts. Teachers record these milestones on the Ages and Stages Questionnaire-3 (ASQ-3), ASQ-SE
(Social/Emotional), and portfolio assessments for Infants-Kindergarten. These evaluations are helpful to both you and your
child’s teachers in understanding your child’s level and rate of growth and development. These evaluations are not designed to
reflect grades but are intended merely to be a communication tool between you and your child’s teacher to help establish a
common understanding of strengths and areas that will benefit from additional support. You may request a conference with
your child’s teacher to review his or her progress at any time throughout the year.

National Assessment. Schools also administer a national assessment tool at the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten levels (and
Preschool at some schools). Teachers use the information to determine each child’s development and achievement levels as
compared with national achievement levels that are widely expected of children of the same age.

Conferences or Grievances
Scheduled personal conferences are offered throughout the school year, beginning in the Private Pre-Kindergarten classroom.
A Leadership Team Member will notify you when it is time to schedule a personal conference to discuss your child’s progress.
You are welcome to request Parent-Teacher conferences throughout the year for all age groups.

If you want to speak to your school’s Franchise Owner(s), you may contact them personally by telephone or request a personal
conference at the school.

You should direct concerns, complaints, or grievances directly to a member of the School Leadership Team or the Franchise Owner.

Open Door Policy

The School Leadership Team implements an open-door policy. You are invited to visit and observe your child’s classroom at any
time unless school access is limited for safety reasons. While advanced notice is not required, it is beneficial to the coordination 2
process if you make arrangements with a member of the School Leadership Team. 10
Written notice is required if someone other than a parent is going to visit the child while on campus, including relatives, out-of-
town guests, or divorced parents with a decree on file at the school.

School Portraits
For convenience, schools may offer a quality, custom photography program at various times throughout the year. Participation is
optional, and there is never an obligation to purchase.

SECTION 3: HEALTH, MEDICAL, AND SECURITY

Health and Medical
Administration of Medication Policy
You must fully complete and sign the Parental Authorization for Medication form before any medication is administered. This
form is available at the front desk. Regulations require parents to

• Provide a signed authorization, including administration and dosage procedures of each medication staff will administer
• List any potential adverse reaction to the medication on the authorization so the staff can properly monitor your
child and notify you accordingly
• List the specific date(s) staff should administer the medication

You must complete and sign a new authorization form at the beginning of each calendar week.
Medications will be administered only if the prescription is specifically labeled with the doctor’s name, child’s name, and
dosage procedures outlined on the bottle. Medications are administered only by a member of the School Leadership Team.

The School Leadership Team will not administer over-the-counter medications of any kind without a written prescription from
a licensed medical physician. The staff will not share medications with multiple family members unless each person’s name
appears on the label.

You must drop off and pick up all medications at the front desk daily. During the day, medications are stored in a locked
cabinet in the front office. You may not take medication to the classroom, and medicine should not be placed in your child’s
school bag. Diaper cream and sunscreen may be given to the teacher and also requires that the parent has initialed the
Permission to Apply Sunscreen or Insect Repellent on the Enrollment Application.

All medication is typically administered immediately following lunch each day. You should discuss special circumstances
requiring the administration of more than one medication, administration on a different schedule, administration of
multiple doses (more than once per day) with a member of the School Leadership Team. Unless a physician provides written
instruction directing otherwise, medication will be administered only once per day following lunch.

CPR and First Aid

All staff are required to be CPR and First Aid certified within 30 days of employment and prior to placement in a classroom
with children unless another certified staff member is also present. All staff members must maintain this certification
throughout their employment.

Illness
A Signs of Illness placard is posted in each classroom. The placard provides a list of some common conditions and signs of
illnesses that require a parent’s immediate notification, such as
• A fever in excess of 100○ F, taken with a temporal or ear thermometer
• Severe coughing
• Breathing trouble
• Yellowish skin or eyes
• Infected skin patches
• Unusual behavior
• Gray or white stool
• Unusually dark or tea-colored urine
• Headache

• Vomiting 2
• Loss of appetite 11
• Diarrhea
• Sudden appearance or spread of a rash that is not explainable
• Pink Eye

If your child shows a sign of illness that requires parent pickup, you will be called to pick up your child immediately. If you cannot be
contacted, the School Leadership Team will contact someone else from the emergency contacts list. Your child will be removed from

the classroom and kept comfortable in the front office until the student is picked up. This procedure is in place to help protect
the other children in the classroom from exposure to the illness.

You will receive a Statement of Illness form when you pick up a sick child. The form outlines the requirements, which may
include a doctor’s certification before your child is allowed to return to school.

Any child who is exposed to or who contracts a communicable or infectious disease may not return to school until the disease
is no longer contagious. The School Leadership Team may require that a physician with expertise in communicable and
infectious diseases certify that your child may return to school. This procedure is followed for every child’s protection.

Children must be free of fever for a minimum of 24 hours (without administering fever-reducing medications) and show no
signs of illness, before being allowed to return to school.

When your child is not feeling well but is still well enough to continue on at school, every effort will be made to notify you to
describe the symptoms and provide pertinent information regarding your child’s status (low-grade fever, flushed, etc.). In such
cases, tuition is still due, tuition is not refunded or prorated.

In the case of a medical emergency, a member of management will contact 911 emergency services and follow the Emergency
Medical Technician (EMT) instructions. EMTs may transport your child to the nearest medical facility. In such emergency
situations, a member of the School Leadership Team will contact you as soon as the situation allows. School staff will not
transport children to or from the medical facility. Either EMTs will transport, or parents may transport if the situation allows
time for parents to arrive at the school. You, as the parent or guardian, assume full responsibility for payment of such medical
services.

**Not in any case of illness, even due to COVID, any other pandemics, or any other communicable diseases contracted at
home or at school, will tuition be waived, refunded, or prorated. Tuition is due as long as the parent wishes to keep the
enrollment spot reserved.

Notices of Medical Concern

When the School Leadership Team becomes aware of medical concerns, a Notice of Medical Concern is posted at the classroom
door or otherwise communicated to you in the event parents are not in the school, to inform you of existing cases of specific,
communicable diseases or other medical concerns in the classroom. You should notify a member of the School Leadership
Team when your child is exposed to or contracts an infectious or communicable disease. However, you may be assured that
your child’s name is never released in conjunction with such a notice. In such cases, tuition is still due, tuition is never waived,
refunded, or prorated.

Reporting of Incidents and Accidents

When an incident occurs that causes your child moderate discomfort, such as scrapes, bumps, or bruises, your child’s teacher
completes a report containing the nature of the situation and the actions taken as a result of the incident. A member of the
School Leadership Team reviews the Incident Report at the time of the event and calls you to report. At pickup, you are asked
to sign the report. You will receive a copy, and a second copy is placed in your child’s school file.

For any injury to a child occurring on school property that requires professional medical treatment other than basic first aid, a
member of the School Leadership Team, in coordination with the staff who were present at the time of injury, completes an
Accident Report. This report includes injuries staff might treat on-site that might later require medical attention by a licensed
physician. A member of the School Leadership Team and the parent both sign and date the form, and each retains a copy.

Sun Safety, Sunscreen, and Insect Repellent Application

The School Leadership Team follows local weather advisories and uses the Child Care Weather Watch chart for monitoring
conditions for safe outdoor play. (For more information, see Inclement Weather in Section 1: Administration.) School staff

follow state-recommended guidelines when applying sunscreen and insect repellent to children. If you provide sunscreen or 2
insect repellent with the expectation that the teachers will apply it at school, you must sign the Permission to Apply Sunscreen 12
or Insect Repellent form, which is kept on file. You should provide sunscreen or insect repellent labeled with your child’s first
and last name to the teacher, who will keep it in a locked cabinet in the classroom. Do not leave sunscreen or insect repellent
in the child’s bag.

Swaddling
The method of swaddling a baby in a tight blanket is not used based on recommendations from the American Academy of
Pediatrics. If swaddling is recommended, a physician’s directive is necessary.

Security
Background Checks
All staff and ancillary vendors are required to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, prior to interacting
with children. A school staff member is always present when an ancillary vendor is interacting with students.

Emergency Evacuation Location

In an emergency situation in which the school campus becomes unsafe, the staff will evacuate the children to a designated
emergency location. The emergency location is posted in the school’s reception area. In the event the school is evacuated,
staff members will attempt to contact the parent/guardian of each child. If the staff cannot reach each child’s parent/guardian,
they will make every attempt to reach the designated emergency contact as listed on the Enrollment Application and
Agreement.

Emergency Procedures and Safety Precautions

The School Leadership Team and staff take great measures to maintain a healthy, safe and secure learning environment. The
school’s comprehensive Safe School Plan provides guidelines for the ongoing safety measures that prepare staff, children, and
parents for emergencies. The School Leadership Team will provide additional information regarding the Safe School Plan during
a parent orientation. Along with the Safe School Plan, the school is equipped with the following:

• A fire and smoke monitoring alarm system

• Carbon monoxide detectors, as required
• Fire extinguishers throughout the building
• A security lock on the entrance door

Upon enrollment, you are provided an entry code to access the entrance door.

Every school participates in monthly and quarterly drills for critical emergencies. Fire, tornado, earthquake (where applicable),
and lockdown drills are conducted each month to acquaint children and staff with emergency procedures. A detailed
explanation of the plans and a log of the dates and times of the drills are kept on file in the school’s office.

Outdoor Play
The playground serves as an extension of the classroom, and outdoor activity provides an opportunity for learning in a
different environment. Benefits of outdoor play include physical activity that supports maintenance of a healthy weight and
moderate exposure of the skin to sunlight, which promotes the production of vitamin D.

Licensing regulations in each state require children to have outdoor play each day, weather permitting. Outdoor playtime is
scheduled at least twice per day. If a school does not have an outdoor playground, the school has an indoor recreation area
that is separate from classroom space and regularly available. At some schools, there is a safe well-supervised walking path,
park or play area regularly available that is scheduled for daily use in suitable weather. Children are closely supervised during
play and when going to and from the area.

Schools have age-appropriate playgrounds designed with equipment to meet the specific developmental needs of each age
group. Certified Playground Safety Inspectors inspect all playground equipment annually. The School Leadership Team
performs monthly playground inspections, and the entire staff continually checks the playgrounds for safety.

Parking Lot Safety

Secure your personal belongings when leaving your vehicle unattended in the school parking lot or take them inside with you.
Please be aware of and report any suspicious behavior to the School Leadership Team. Never leave your car running and 2
unattended in the parking lot, especially if you have a child in the car. 13
Photography, Video, and Social Media Policy
We understand that you may wish to photograph and record your child at school and events. In consideration of families that
may not wish to have their child’s images on the Internet, it is important that you be careful about uploading photographs and
videos of activities at the school that may include children other than your own. Primrose Schools, the Franchise Owners, and
the school staff will not be responsible for any photographs or videos you take or post to the Internet.

Primrose Schools has Social Media Policies in place for all of its schools and their staff members. For the protection and
privacy of students and families, staff members are not permitted to post images of Primrose children (other than their own)
to their personal social media accounts.

At the discretion of the individual Franchise Owner, a school may have a social media account(s), which may be used to
showcase the school events and communicate with parents. Each Franchise Owner will make reasonable effort to ensure that
any photographs or videos posted on the school’s social media pages, messages, or links for website areas will be images of
only those children whose parents have authorized a photo and video release on the Primrose Schools Application for
Enrollment.

For professional, ethical and privacy concerns, Primrose Schools’ Franchise Owners, National Leadership Support Staff, and
school staff may decline any connection, invitations or requests parents send through personal social media accounts.

Privacy Statement
Primrose Schools’ Franchise Owners and Staff respect your privacy and protect personal information of parents and students.
Primrose Schools will not transfer to or share personal information with third parties, except under the limited conditions
described under the discussion entitled “Information Sharing and Disclosure” below.

Information Collection
Personal information means any information that may be used to identify an individual, current or former parent or student,
including, but not limited to, first and last name; email address; home, postal or other physical address; other contact
information; title; occupation; industry; personal interests; and other information needed to provide a service or product or
carry out a transaction parents have requested.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Because Primrose Schools is a national company, parents’ personal information may be shared with other offices or
subsidiaries of Primrose Schools. Personal information also may be shared with Primrose Schools’ vendors or service providers.
All such entities are governed by this Privacy Statement or are legally bound by appropriate confidentiality and data transfer
agreements.

Staff will not share or disclose medical-related records or information without express written authorization from you. Data is
stored within the Primrose organization on controlled, secure servers with limited access. Personal Information may be stored
and processed in the United States where Primrose Schools, its subsidiaries, affiliates, or agents are located.

For privacy reasons, staff phone numbers and addresses are never shared or disclosed. You may leave a message with your contact
information with the School Leadership Team, and it will be given to the teacher or other staff member whom you wish to contact.

Security Entrance
A locking mechanism secures the entrance door. You are provided a code that allows access. To ensure the continued safety
of children, parents, and staff, you must not give this code to anyone other than the emergency contacts provided on the
Application for Enrollment. Use caution when entering and exiting the building. Do not allow anyone you do not recognize to
enter the building with you. You will be notified when the school’s access code is updated.

Sign In and Out

You must sign your child in and out daily at the front reception. For safety reasons and proper supervision, you must accompany
your child to the classroom or leave your child in the direct supervision of a staff member in charge, in the event parents are not
permitted into the school for safety reasons.

Solicitation of Products, Babysitting, or Tutoring Services Policy

There may be no solicitation of products or services on the campus of any Primrose school by parents, children, or staff.
2
14
School staff are prohibited from providing off-campus services for any parent or child affiliated with a Primrose school. These
services specifically include:

• Babysitting services
• Tutoring services
• Driving children other than their own to or from

school Why we do not allow these services:

• Outside services to parents can cause favoritism in the classroom with families and children.
• If the teacher is able to avoid favoritism, it is often difficult for the child to understand why he or she is not
receiving the same attention at school that is received at home. This situation is not best for the child.
• Families develop a personal relationship with teachers when they babysit for them. If an issue arises between the
parents and the teachers related to babysitting or tutoring for any reason, it could potentially affect the school
environment.

If school staff members provide tutoring or babysitting services, they could be violating a condition of their employment with
the Franchise Owner, which could result in the loss of their position. Parents’ solicitation of services to any staff member could
result in dismissal of the child from the school, in the Franchise Owner’s discretion.

The School Leadership Team reserves the right to terminate or suspend a family for inappropriate interactions with staff.

Staff Supervision of Children

While at school, children are in visual range at all times and physically accounted for on a frequent basis as outlined below:

• During transition periods—such as moving from one classroom to the next or moving from classroom to
playground and from playground to classroom—a staff member takes attendance.
• The staff member is responsible for performing frequent and consistent head counts throughout the day. If a child is
found to be absent, a member of the School Leadership Team is notified immediately and emergency procedures for
missing children are followed. All staff must adhere to this policy without exception; failure to do so is cause for
disciplinary action.

Caring for Children Who Miss Class Field Trips

If your child arrives at school when his or her class is on a field trip, the following procedures occur:

• You must sign in through the electronic system.

• Your child may be left with the School Leadership Team who will take your child to his or her classroom, having your
child leave personal articles in the designated area.
• If the classroom is empty, your child will be moved into the next age-appropriate classroom until his or her class returns.
• When your child’s class returns, your child will be moved back to his or her regular classroom.

Technology Usage in the Classroom

Interactive technology is included in the curriculum starting in Preschool. The Balanced Learning® curriculum supports the use
of technology (such as interactive tablets) as a tool for enhancing learning and for assessment purposes. A variety of apps are
available to enhance children’s learning (examples include apps to create original works of digital art, book creation apps,
vocabulary card design apps, and reading/ mathematics reinforcement).

The schools take several measures to ensure that they provide technology tools that are age appropriate and developmentally
appropriate, including the following:
• Each app is carefully selected to represent developmentally appropriate academic content, and only these approved
apps are permitted in the classroom.
• When available, enhanced features such as parent/teacher lockdown controls are activated.
• Tablets are used in airplane mode to limit access to external sources.
• Tablets and applications are monitored and managed by the School Leadership Team. They may have additional
restrictions on application and browser usage.

You, the parent/guardian, acknowledge that given the constantly changing nature of technology and children’s increasing 2
technology awareness, there may be some inherent risk of accessing content outside of the approved apps. However, efforts 15
such as those listed above are taken to minimize this risk.
SECTION 4: DISCIPLINE
Discipline Policy
At Primrose schools, prevention and positive guidance are the primary methods of managing behavior. Primrose Schools does
not allow physical abuse, humiliation, bribery, verbal intimidation, or threatening attitudes toward children in our schools. By
using encouragement, positive reinforcement, redirection, providing children choices, talking about conflicts and allowing
children to verbalize their frustrations, teachers provide children the opportunity to cope with their feelings in a positive way
and develop self- control.

Primrose Schools strictly prohibits these behaviors:

• Spanking or other corporal punishment
• Subjecting children to cruel or severe punishment, such as humiliation, verbal or physical abuse, neglect, or
abusive treatment, including any type of physical hitting inflicted in any manner upon the body, shaking, threats
or derogatory remarks
• Depriving children of outdoor time, meals, or snacks; force feeding children or otherwise making them eat against
their will; or using food in any way as a consequence for behavior
• Disciplining a child for soiling, wetting, or not using the toilet; forcing a child to remain in soiled clothing or to remain
on the toilet; or using any other unusual or excessive practices for toileting
• Confining a child to a swing, high-chair, crib, playpen, or any other piece of equipment for extended periods of time in
lieu of supervision

SECTION 5: DEVELOPMENTAL INFORMATION

Biting
Biting is a natural, developmental stage that children aged 12 months to three years may experience. Often, biting is a means
children use to communicate that something is not right in their world. The keys to addressing biting issues are understanding
what causes children to bite, knowing how to handle biting incidents when they occur, and acting proactively to prevent biting
whenever possible. The School Leadership Team works with teachers and parents to formulate a plan for addressing biting
behavior.

Teachers use sign language in the Infant through Preschool Pathways classroom to increase children’s ability to communicate
nonverbally. Research shows that signing can reduce the biting behavior that sometimes occurs when children are unable to
communicate their wants, needs, and feelings. Signing, along with the teacher interaction and modeling of correct behaviors,
can help children deal with their frustration and respond appropriately to stressful situations.

While teachers cannot always prevent biting, they work to provide an environment as free of stress as possible. Our schools
focus on these stress-reducing tools:

• A daily schedule and routine in order for each child to feel “safe and secure” (It is important for children to know
what to expect.)
• A calm and nurturing atmosphere with developmentally appropriate activities to promote children’s health,
safety, education, and well-being
• Teachers with specific child-development training, who provide positive guidance and who are knowledgeable in
classroom management techniques, in addition to intensive training on policies and procedures for biting

Pledge of Allegiance
Each morning, children recite the Pledge of Allegiance during Circle Time. Schools respect the decision of any child or teacher
to decline to participate.

Positive Behavior
We believe it is important to recognize children for setting good examples. Teachers are encouraged to regularly send home
messages through the parent communication portal, acknowledging positive behavior and specific achievements.

Primrose schools do not use extrinsic reward systems or behavior charts to encourage, acknowledge, or reward good behavior
or point out a child’s choice to engage in inappropriate behavior. The Positive Guidance Policy explicitly states that teachers do
not use behavior charts and reward systems as a way to manage behavior of any kind in classrooms.
2
16
School staff want children to learn to behave in caring, respectful, and socially appropriate ways because it is the right thing to
do rather than because of the chance to obtain a tangible reward. Star charts and other reward systems can interfere with
children being able to understand the importance and real consequences of their actions. Tangible rewards for appropriate
behavior can set up the expectation of a child wanting to “get paid” every time he or she behaves appropriately.

Percy’s “Rules of the Roost” posters hang in every Primrose school in each Toddler and older classroom to provide positive
guidance for children to follow. These are Percy’s Rules of the Roost:

• Be kind to yourself and others

• Use your listening ears and looking eyes
• Keep your hands and feet to yourself
• Use your walking feet and inside voice in school

These simple and powerful guidelines establish realistic expectations and the framework for consistency for all children
throughout the school.

Rest Periods
Each afternoon schedule includes a quiet time for all children to rest and relax. Teachers play soft classical-style music while
the children rest on their cots. Primrose standards and state licensing require children to rest quietly on their cots (beginning
in the Toddler classroom) or engage in quiet activities after a short rest period. Teachers allow children who fall asleep to
sleep until the end of the rest period or quiet time.
Your child may bring a small comfort item to help him or her rest. The item must be small enough to fit into the Primrose bag,
and your child may take the item out of the bag only during the rest period. Interactive and electronic toys are not appropriate
and may cause distraction to other children who are trying to rest. The school provides sheets and blankets for the cots, and
for sanitary and safety reasons, your child may not bring pillows or blankets to school.

Transitions
The School Leadership Team and teachers work with you to make your child’s transition from one classroom to another a fun,
learning experience for all concerned. Transitioning your child into a new classroom should be a positive, seamless process for
you, your child, and your child’s teachers. With a focus on what is best for your child, they all set out to answer these
questions:

• What classroom is developmentally appropriate?

• How do the School Leadership Team, teachers, and parents identify when it is best to transition a child?
• What steps are necessary to help ensure a smooth transition?

Transitions often occur at specific times throughout the year. Transitions generally occur in August, January and June
depending on the age and individual needs of your child. A member of the School Leadership Team will discuss the transition
process and Education Plan in more detail during the Parent Orientation.

SECTION 6: BALANCED NUTRITION

Nutritional Needs

Attitudes about nutrition and fitness are formed early in life. Primrose schools participate in the Balanced Menus program,
which meets or exceeds USDA standards. During snack and lunch time, children discuss the benefits of eating a Balanced Menu
consisting of protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. A trained Food Service Teacher prepares meals on campus, and your
child may eat in the comfort and security of his or her classroom in an unhurried setting. Primrose provides an environment
that encourages your child to try new, healthy foods.

Nutritious mid-morning and afternoon snacks, as well as lunch, are served daily. A late afternoon snack also provides energy
your child needs to stay active and alert until he or she leaves school at the end of the day.

Due to the potential risks associated with nut allergies in young children, our staff does not use or allow nut products or
products containing any derivative of nuts. You should discuss any special dietary needs for your child with a member of the
School Leadership Team. Modest accommodations will be made for your child if he or she has food allergies, is subject to
dietary restrictions, or requires specific menu items for cultural reasons.
2
17
Breakfast
Schools may offer breakfast service at an additional charge. Parents should check with the School Leadership Team regarding
details and availability of breakfast.

Family Style Dining

Teachers may introduce family style dining beginning in the Early Preschool classroom. At the appropriate age, your child
learns self- help skills by setting the table, pouring drinks, serving his or her own portions, and cleaning up after each meal.

The Prayer of Thanks or Poem of Thanks

Teachers work every day to help children develop good character by teaching and role modeling positive character traits. One
of the most powerful ways for your child to have a happy heart is to be grateful. Prior to lunch, teachers lead the class in reciting
the Prayer of Thanks or the Poem of Thanks. (See the Parent Handbook Addendum for the applicable version for your school.)

Religious traditions are not part of the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum, with the exception of December holidays.
During this time, teachers do provide appropriate references to a variety of religious and cultural traditions without promoting
any one tradition or religion over another.

SECTION 7: POLICIES
ADA Policy
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that childcare providers give children and parents with disabilities an equal
opportunity to participate in childcare programs and services. Specifically, childcare providers:

• Must not exclude children with disabilities from programs unless their presence would pose a direct threat to the
health or safety of others or require a fundamental alteration of the program.
• Must make reasonable modifications to policies and practices to integrate children, parents, and guardians with
disabilities into the program unless doing so would constitute a fundamental alteration.
• Must provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services needed for effective communication with children or
adults with disabilities, when doing so would not constitute an undue burden.
• Must generally make our facilities accessible to persons with disabilities. Existing facilities are subject to the
readily achievable standard for barrier removal, while newly constructed facilities and any altered portions of
existing facilities must be fully accessible. *
*(Source: www.ADA.gov)
It is the intent of all schools to comply with the ADA. The School Leadership Team is required to make an individualized assessment
of whether it can meet the needs of the particular child and attempt to find reasonable means to accommodate those needs.

Child Abuse Reporting Policy

Primrose schools comply with the rules of applicable local licensing and state laws regarding any suspected case of child
abuse. Primrose standards and state licensing mandate that school staff members must report any suspected child abuse or
neglect to the appropriate authorities.

Non-Discrimination Statement
Primrose schools provide equal opportunity for all individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin,
disability, gender identity, and veteran or disability status.

Safe Sleep Practices

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that healthy, full-term infants sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This posture is considered to be primarily important during the first six months of age,
when a baby’s risk of SIDS is greatest. In order to reduce the risk of SIDS, Primrose staff is trained in and follows the Safe Sleep
Practices as listed below:

2
18
1. Infants are placed on their back to sleep unless the school has been provided a written directive from a physician
authorizing another sleep position. The authorization must include how the infant should be placed, as well as a
length of time for which the instructions should be followed.
2. No items are placed in or on the crib with an infant.
3. No objects are attached to a crib with a sleeping infant.
4. Appropriate sleep clothing is provided by the school. Our Infant Teachers place a sleep sack wearable blanket on
infants that fit according to the commercial manufacturer’s guidelines and will not slide up around an infant’s
face.
5. Crib bedding is provided and cleaned daily or more often when necessary.
6. Infants who fall asleep elsewhere will be moved to a crib to sleep.
7. No positioning devices or wedges are used.
8. Cribs are in compliance with the CPSC and ASTM standards.
9. Crib construction is in good repair and free of hazards.

Screen Time and Movie Policy

As part of an educational classroom environment, excessive use of screen time in any form is discouraged. The Balanced
Learning® approach limits use of television to age-appropriate, theme-related material that aligns with a specific learning
outcome that is referenced in the curriculum. The use of high technological devices such as touch screen tablets are integrated
into the curriculum as research and learning tools. They are not used merely for entertainment.

Smoke/Vape-free Environment
Our schools maintain a smoke/vape-free environment. Smoking of any kind is prohibited on the entire campus of a Primrose school.

Toys and Personal Property

To prevent children from losing or breaking personal belongings, the staff will not allow children to bring toys, electronic
gaming devices, or cell phones to school.

To ensure that all toys in the school meet current safety guidelines and are appropriate for a group setting, the school does not
accept toy donations of any type. Toys, blankets, or small items are not allowed in the cribs at any time.

School staff makes every effort to keep up with your child’s personal items. Your child is provided a diaper bag, tote bag or
backpack, and a personal cubby or coat hook for storing personal items each day. You are encouraged to label all items with
your child’s full name. The school is not responsible for lost or misplaced items.

Transportation Policy—Before and After School

The school may provide transportation services for school-age children to and from designated elementary schools and to and
from designated field trips. (Check with a member of the School Leadership Team to see if transportation is available.) It is your
responsibility as the parents to inform the School Leadership Team of any schedule changes. You must notify a member of the
School Leadership Team if your child is absent or does not need to be picked up from the elementary school. When you forget
to provide this notification, it often causes delay in picking up other children as staff must verify that your child was absent
from school before leaving the school property. It is the bus driver’s duty and goal to pick up all children in a timely manner
and safely transport them to the school.

For the safety of all children, you may not drop off or pick up your child during a field trip. In order for your child to participate
in a field trip, he or she must adhere to the following regulations:

• Meet applicable state and other safety requirements pertaining to age, height, and weight
• Have written permission from you, the parent
• Be present at school and leave with the group
• Return to the school with the group

You may pick up your child after the staff has checked all children back into the school. The school will transport children only
in the designated Primrose school bus. Schools use only multi-function school activity buses in compliance with U.S.
Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rules.
2
19
Water Activities
Schools do not participate in or provide transportation to water activities involving standing bodies of water, pools, lakes,
wading pools, oceans, water parks, or rivers.

Weapons Policy
Primrose schools strive to provide a safe, nonviolent campus for everyone. Dangerous weapons and firearms (as defined below,
or by applicable law or the School Leadership Team) are not permitted on the school campus at any time. This policy does not
apply to on- duty, certified law enforcement officers.
• “Dangerous weapon” includes, but is not limited to, the following items:
o Any device that shoots or delivers a bullet, BB, pellet, arrow, dart, flare, electrical charge, or other projectile,
whether loaded or unloaded, including those devices powered by CO2
o Any explosive device, including fireworks
o Any instruments/devices that are designed or may be used as a weapon to injure or threaten another
individual, including knives with a blade greater than two inches
• “Firearm” includes, but is not limited to, the following items:
o Pistol
o Handgun
o Rifle
o Shotgun
o Any ammunition
This policy applies to all persons on campus, including staff, students, contractors, vendors, and visitors. Dangerous weapons will be
confiscated.

SECTION 8: DRESS CODE

Children Bringing Money to School
Your child is not permitted to bring money to school unless the money is intended for a Caring and Giving event. For such
events, direction will be provided by the School Leadership Team about how to handle the donation. If your child inadvertently
brings money to school, the teacher will collect it, seal it in an envelope that is clearly labeled with his or her name and
classroom and leave it in the office where you can pick it up at the end of the day.

Primrose School Bags

Your child is provided a Primrose bag at the beginning of each school year or upon enrollment. Your child should bring his or her
bag to school each day to store personal items. You should check the Primrose bag each day as teachers will place your child’s
work and all school notices in the bag.

Note: Please do not leave medication, sunscreen, insect repellant, or tuition payments in your child’s bag.

Primrose School Uniform Program

Students in the Private Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms are required to wear the Primrose School uniforms
Monday through Thursday. Friday is Clothing Choice Day when your child may wear his or her uniform or a favorite outfit.

Safe, Comfortable Apparel

Your child should arrive at school in comfortable clothing. While the teachers will make every effort to protect clothing, children
will, at times, experience accidental spills during planned activities.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends, for each child’s safety, that all strings in hoods and neck collars be
removed from children’s outerwear, including jackets, sweatshirts, and headwear. Waist and bottom drawstrings should
measure three inches or less from where the strings extend out of the garment when the garment is expanded to its fullest
width. Clothing with closures such as snaps, buttons, Velcro, or elastic is recommended.

You are encouraged to label each clothing item, including sweaters, jackets, hats, and gloves, with your child’s first and last name.

Pacifiers are used only in the Infant and Toddler classrooms. Please do not attach the pacifiers to clothing. Pacifiers with
attachments such as stuffed animals are not accepted as it can obstruct the view of the child’s face while monitoring breathing.
2
20
Rubber-soled shoes, such as tennis or athletic shoes, are recommended. For safety reasons, open-toe sandals, flip-flops, soft
rubber shoes, cowboy boots, hard-soled shoes, and roller shoes are not allowed.

Small items like hair bows, clips, small earrings, or items that can be removed or easily swallowed are not recommended
because of the potential for choking. To prevent accidental strangulation, children may not wear necklaces. Small earrings
must have safety backs.

Why Uniforms in the Older Classrooms?

School uniforms boost school spirit!
Wearing uniforms creates an atmosphere of belonging for children, helping to build a strong sense of community within the
school. This community environment can positively affect a child's attitude toward school and can lead to better learning and
improved attendance. Children excited about school are ready to learn!

School uniforms make mornings easier!

Uniforms eliminate the need for you to spend time deliberating over what your child should wear to school every day.
Uniforms promote time efficiency, organization, and neatness. Parents and students agree that starting the morning off right is
the key to a productive and happy day.

School uniforms encourage individual self-expression.

Students find ways to express themselves creatively through the arts, music, sports, personality, and cognitive and character
development rather than through their clothes.

The Primrose School uniform consists of a shirt with the Primrose logo either from the fashion or basic line with (store of
choice purchased) khaki, navy, or black pants, shorts, and skirts. The fashion line also offers jumpers and pants. Solid white,
blue, or red shirts and blouses, without the Primrose logo, and denim blue jeans do not meet the Primrose Uniform Policy.

You and school staff will partner to implement the Uniform Policy. The first time your child attends out of uniform, a member
of the School Leadership Team will call you with a friendly reminder that your child must be in uniform Monday through
Thursday. The second time your child attends out of uniform, a new uniform shirt will be provided, and your account will be
charged. If a new uniform shirt is not available, a School Leadership Team member will ask you to bring the appropriate item
to school. Parents are provided ordering information for uniforms upon registering.

SECTION 9: REDUCTION, REUSE, AND RECYCLING

School staff makes a continual effort to instill in our children the importance of protecting and maintaining the environment.
Teachers model good stewardship for the environment by recycling or reusing items. Each school is encouraged to plan
educational activities and environmental efforts beyond the basic expectation.

The Balanced Learning® curriculum includes lessons on conservation, dedicating a Unit of Learning to special emphasis of this
concept, and teachers implement the principle and encourage children’s participation throughout the year.

Inclement Weather Procedure
It may not be possible for a Primrose campus to open during certain extreme weather conditions. We will make every reasonable
effort to open the school, however, the safety of the children and our staff will be our prime consideration for closing the school. As a
general rule, when Houston ISD (HISD) is closed due to inclement weather, Primrose at the Galleria will also be closed. We
communicate with parents regarding inclement weather through ProCare App, website, Facebook, and/or emails.

School Holidays and Teacher In-Service Days

We align our holidays with the local school district calendar. Therefore, our school will be closed for the following holidays and staff
development days: If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the school will close on either Friday or Monday. Specific Dates are
posted in the school’s front office lobby.

• Labor Day: First Monday in September

• Thanksgiving Day/Next Day: Thursday, and Friday in November
• Christmas Break/Two Days: December 25th and another day
• New Year’s Day: January 1St
• Good Friday
• Memorial Day: Last Monday in May
• Independence Day: July 4th
• Staff Development Day: January
• Staff Development Day: August

Withdrawal Notice
No portion of weekly paid or outstanding tuition will be refunded, prorated, or cancelled in the event of absence, holidays, weather
related school closings, withdrawal, late starts, or early dismissal from the school. Including, but not limited to, pandemics and illnesses
circulating in the school.
A two-week “written” notice must be emailed to the school’s email ([email protected]) prior to the withdrawal
date should it become necessary to withdraw your child for any reason. This notice should include the date of submission of
withdrawal notice and the last date your child will be in attendance.
To re-enroll your child, registration and curriculum fees will be billed again. Your child will then be considered for reenrollment
depending on availability.
All access cards issued need to be returned on your last day of attendance. Cards not received will be billed $50.00 per card on your
ACH account on file. No Exceptions!!

Disenrollment
Occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, a child is unable to adjust to a private school setting or the child’s needs require smaller
classroom ratios. When these circumstances occur, Primrose Schools will make every effort to accommodate the needs of each parent or
child. Primrose School at the Galleria reserves the right to dismiss any student, should it be deemed necessary, after a reasonable
adjustment period or anytime, for any reason, during a child’s enrollment at the sole discretion of the Director and Franchise Owners. In
these cases, no portion of the registration or supply fees will be refunded.

Annual Registration and Supply Fee

Registration Fee: Your child will be registered for a specific Primrose program after the Primrose School Enrollment Application and
Agreement has been completed and submitted with the non-refundable Registration and Curriculum Fees. Registration fees are due
annually, for each academic year.
Curriculum Fee: Curriculum Fees will be billed to your account for each academic year, August through May. Curriculum Fees cover
art and school supplies and your child’s accident insurance premium. The fee is determined according to your child’s classroom needs
and required supplies. Your tuition payment reserves your child’s space in their assigned classroom. To ensure quality programming
and high-quality staffing, tuition is due even when your child is absent. Tuition is due each Friday the week prior to the week in
attendance.

Late Tuition Fee

A $50.00 late tuition fee will be assessed by close of business day on Monday and the child will be subject to dismissal. It is the sole
responsibility of the parent(s) to make sure the information entered into ProCare app is valid and accurate and weekly tuition
payments are paid in due time.

Parent Handbook Addendum │School Year 2022-2023

If tuition has not been received as specified on the Primrose School’s Application and Agreement, past due tuition fees may result in
the loss of your child’s space at Primrose School at the Galleria. Failure to pay the weekly tuition will constitute a default and will
entitle Primrose School at the Galleria to all remedies as prescribed by law including reasonable attorney’s fee.

Prohibited items
The following items should not be brought to the school by children:
Cell Phones, iPad, Cameras, Electronic Games, Chewing gum or any items that would distract other children from learning or might
create an ownership concern with sharing such items with classmates.

Poem of Thanks
Teachers work every day to help children develop good character by teaching and role modeling positive character traits. One of the
most powerful ways for your child to have a happy heart is to be grateful. Prior to lunch, teachers lead the class in reciting the
Primrose Poem of Thanks.

Poem of Thanks
We’re thankful for this food today.
We’re thankful we can learn and play.
We’re thankful for our families too.
And Happy Hearts for me and you!

Religious traditions are not part of the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum, except for December holidays. During this season,
teachers do provide appropriate references to a variety of religious and cultural traditions without promoting any one tradition or
religion over another.

Children may choose not to say the poem. For those who choose to say the poem, teachers will not ask them to bow their heads, fold
their hands, say “Amen,” or participate in any other action that might imply a specific religious belief.
