    VILLAGE ADOPTION PROGRAM AND VILLAGE VISIT

    ABOUT PRO BONO CLUB


    Pro Bono Club (PB Club) Scheme, has been conceptualized to strengthen the existing pro bono
    programme, by integrating law schools and students within its fold. At the outset, it is important
    to mention that the spirit to serve the community pro bono “in public good” has always remained
    a core value amongst the legal fraternity. The primary objective of this scheme is to improve the
    efficiency and quality of pro bono legal services by providing assistance to pro bono advocates
    through competent law schools. Here, selected law students ( known as ‘Pro Bono Associates’ or
    PBA) are part of Pro Bono Clubs attached to law schools and helmed by a dedicated faculty in-
    charge.
    PARTICIPANTS
    At the time of the program, the Head and Dean of Faculty of Law, Prof. (Dr) B.D. Singh, Prof.
    Harish Chandra, Dr. Radheshyam Prasad, Dr. Abhishek Kumar Tiwari were present. The Pro
    Bono Associates who attended the village visit are : Yashvardhan Verma, Anurag Yadav, Sumit
    Singh, Vaishnav Mishra , Dhruv Shukla, Sushant Shukla, Aditya Raj Soni, Suhani Rastogi,
    Srishti Chaudhary, Mimansha Rawat.

    SUMMARY OF THE EVENT


    In compliance with the spirit of Pro Bono i.e. “ in public good” , The Pro Bono Club of Faculty
    of Law, University of Lucknow successfully adopted the village “GOHNKALA IN BAKSHI
    KA TALAB, LUCKNOW” for promoting”EQUAL ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR ALL” under
    the Department of Justice’s Nyaya Bandhu Scheme .
    The Pro Bono Club, Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow organised a campaign on 2.11.2023
    to adopt village “GOHNKALA IN BAKSHI KA TALAB, LUCKNOW “, under the Department
    of Justice’s Nyaya Bandhu Scheme, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.In this
    sequence, on 04.11.2023, the Pro Bono Associate of the club launched a door to door campaign
    to provide free legal aid, legal information and publicity of government welfare schemes to the
    villagers.
    The Pro Bono Associates campaigned around 150 houses and talked to the people regarding

    whatever problems they had related to the system which were noted down and their problems
    would soon be resolved by setting up a camp in the village. The villagers were also motivated to
    mediate the cases through Lok Adalat. The team of Pro Bono Club did an awareness drive and
    told the people regarding the free legal services provided by the Pro Bono Club. The residents
    were also informed about the various Welfare Schemes in which they can enroll and avail the
    benefits.
