Getting Started with ROSE V4.

ROSE Installation Instructions (for Microsoft Windows V7/V8.1/10 - 32 or 64 Bit Edition)

Perform a system backup (optional).

Exit active programs and shutdown RI (right click on the RI icon in the lower right corner
of your screen and select Shutdown).

Uninstall older versions of ROSE, RI and Audio & Data Link Player, if installed.

ROSE installation must be performed by a user in the Administrators group.

Browse the ROSE CD-ROM and run (double-click) the Setup.exe icon.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen and use the default install path.

RI Installation Instructions (cancel RI installation if the current version is already installed)

The RI installation and then the Microsoft 2012 Redistributable (x86) installation will begin
immediately following ROSE installation.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Browse the ROSE CD-ROM and run (double-click) the InstallDriver application icon to
install the Recorder USB FDAU Simulator (RUFS) driver.

When running ROSE and RI on Windows 7 select Control Panel to System and Security
to Change User Account Control Settings and select the Never notify setting (at the
bottom ). This will prevent startup OCX errors and RI security pop-up messages.

Configure the PC Local Area Network IP address and subnet mask for CICC3 or
FA5000/FA5001.

When using the CICC3 to connect to the recorder the PC Network Connections Properties
should be configured to the PC IP address 192.168.1.140 and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
Select CICC/3 from the ROSE Recorder Connection menu.

When using the FA50XX recorder the PC Network Connections Properties should be
configured to the PC IP address 192.168.1.140 (or 103 – 140) and Subnet mask
255.255.255.0. Select FA5000 from the ROSE Recorder Connection menu and enter the
FA5000 IP address 192.168.1.102 and PC Monitor Data IP Address to match the PC IP
address selected as shown above 192.168.1.140 (or 103 – 140). Adjust firewall settings
when needed.

When using the CICC2 (supported on Windows V7 32-bit only) to connect to the recorder:
Enable Plug and Play from the Device Manager LPT (parallel port) port settings.
Enable EPP on the parallel port BIOS settings.
Run ROSE from a user account in the Administrator group.
Select CICC/2 from the ROSE Recorder Connection menu.
Edit the Ri.ini parallel port address if not using port address 378.

Refer to the README document under the ROSE subdirectory for additional information.

To start ROSE, click the ROSE desktop icon.


If prompted for Serial Number, enter the serial number shown on the CD.

Click the User Login button and enter “ROSE” as the default password to activate all
ROSE functionality.

For Windows 7 OS systems select and run the 32-Bit OS Windows6.1-KB917607-


x86.msu or 64-Bit OS Windows6.1-KB917607-x64.msu located in the installation
directory (allows ROSE Help to run).

For Windows 8.1 OS systems select and run the 32-Bit OS Windows8.1-KB917607-
x86.msu or 64-Bit OS Windows8.1-KB917607-x64.msu located in the installation
directory (allows ROSE Help to run).

Click the ROSE Help button and select the “Getting Started” entry in the ROSE Help
Contents menu.

RI will automatically start the first time ROSE is run and recorder connection is needed.

If prompted for “Keep Blocking” or “Unblock”, select Unblock.

If this is an update from ROSE V3.x -V4.0 the existing ROSE database should be updated.
Select Utilities menu Update Database.

Troubleshooting and Additional Information:

If errors occur when attempting to start ROSE and RI with Windows 10, then it may be
necessary to change all ROSE (ROSE.exe) and RI (DAP.exe, F1IP.exe, FAIP.exe, LIP.exe,
RCP.exe, RI Startup.exe, RI_Stat.exe, RIP.exe, SP.exe) executables properties to “Run this
program as an administrator”.
